STEAM | June 2014 - Enhanced Electronics Edition

Haha, actually, a second playthrough isn't a bad idea as it has been a little over a year since I finished the game. The primary reason I did a ghost/no-kill run the first time around was so that I could revisit the game in the future and have a ton of fun wrecking havoc.

You played a non-Assassin's Creed game?
A non-Ubi Collectathon?

Is the world ending?

I want to buy mafia 2 from amazon.com. its on sale for $7.49 now

In the description it says the key will only work in north america. Is that true or do they just write that to scare us europeans off from buying ?

I'm waiting for the summer drought to kick in before making a big dent in my backlog. I'm quite surprised the last 3 games I've bought on release I've finished within a week of them coming out. It's just impulse sale purchases and bundle fodder that keeps my backlog high. I suppose if you have no intention of playing it then it's not really part of your backlog is it? If that's the case yours must be tiny :p

you need me to pick your games to play. Whenever I pick seemingly (or believed to be) short game to finish, it turns out to be not short at all. If I pick myself, it always will be ~100 hours game or longer, or endless, no kidding. (><)

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Coming up on 2,000 games on Steam. Wish I could find someone who had a gift copy of Top Gun - that would make an amazing #2,000.

Earlier in the year I went through my library and made note of the games I'd either played to completion or intended to play to completion -- the number was around 1/10th of my library.

There are a few things to collect in Dishonored so it wasn't all bad. :p

Oh dear, I just bought my first console game since getting my gaming PC.

Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen used for $25....what have I done....
Hope you enjoy it, I got it for free from PS+ and couldn't get past the terrible framerate :(

Enjoy the frames. You can pretty much count them in DD (at least on PS3).
Hah, pretty much.

Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed Hard mode is damn Hard, the AI just goes full force on the player. Switching it to Normal, though, makes it too easy. That's one heck of a jump from one mode to the other.

I've gotten some of the World Circuit done, but am just wondering how much more difficult it gets later on.
Yeah, the AI can be pretty brutal in that game, I really haven't bothered trying the harder difficulties in the World Tour because of that.

Acti didn't start using Steamworks until MW2 in November 2009. Wolf09 predates this and while Blur does not, it missed the bandwagon nonetheless.
I wonder if they are moving MW1 to Steamworks or something since all of its keys are redeemable now.

Nearing the half way point in DmC 2013, played up til I got to the
Succubus boss fight.
Gotta say the characters and dialog up til that point were bearable for the most part and didn't annoy me. Although Kat's got a sweet tight ass, but she'd prob. give me AIDs...

Haven't had to use Items so far, but need to time my dodges and I'll be fine.

EDIT: Which bundle atm has 8-bit Commando?
I have been enjoying it quite a bit and I'm not particularly good at these types of games. That said, I did have to use an item (small green star) once :(
I didn't want that 10% death penalty and I mostly suck at dodging

game is the shit

haters to the left
Pretty much.

$4.83 seems fair for a game I'll never play.
Does the game come with some exclusive preorder or something?

Color restriction removal: http://dmcmods.com/2470-weapons-damage-colored-enemies-2
Turbo mod: http://dmcmods.com/2345-turbo-mode

One removes the color coded restrictions (blue enemies can only be hurt by angel weapons, etc), and the other speeds up the game at various intervals to either match or surpass previous games' turbo modes.
These are neat, will try them when I replay it eventually. Thanks!

It's too bad my 120GB SSD is filled thanks to BF3/BF4 and Titanfall

dem origin games

honestly it's the ones where the loading goes faster by far, joining and server and loading a map takes seconds so im much more inclined to just randomly play for a bit
Yeah, multiplayer games in general are great to have in an SSD since sometimes loading maps can be slow in HDDs.

Those are the only games where I feel the need to have them on my SSD. In other games it's usually the difference between 5 seconds or 2 seconds of loading and I could not care less. I remember having 60+ seconds with BF4 on my HDD, now it's more like 10 seconds.
Some games seem to have the loading hardcoded or something. Naruto UNS3 takes the same time to load from my HDD as it does from my SSD, which is very annoying :/

Yeah but that's not fair to PSN! How dare you counter his terrible and pointless argument with common sense.
LOL, although among the console makers, PSN does tend to have the best deals especially if you have PS+, like how a few weeks ago I got Soul Calibur V for $5.
obviously can't hold a candle to PC sales
FWIW you can buy PSN things (not just cards) from amazon now though.

Man, that is some sick burn XD

We were playing Amiga games back when we were kids, not whatever you Argies or Uries had (Sega Master System?).
SMS was big in Brazil, and basically only Brazil.
I had friends who had Amigas, Spectrums and the like, but I had a NES and a PC with DOS :p

Please tell me this is a terrible joke D:

I just want to say I fully support more Natalie Dormer in this thread. Saorise has had her time in the spotlight. I think it's time for her to gracefully exit. Sorry, JaseC!
I can't over her Dreamworks smirk, totally off putting.

The worst thing you can say about Uncharted 3 is that it wasn't as much of a step up from Uncharted 2 as that was from the first game. It's not bad, it just isn't excellent. It's still a fun game and I don't see why you wouldn't enjoy playing more Uncharted if you liked the first two.

By the way, you're reading the June 2014 Steam thread.

Stumpokapow posted a lengthy review of Killzone 2 in a steam thread. The rubicon has been crossed my friend.

We're a bit off topic.

Hahaha. Half my problems stem from starting but not finishing a lot of games. Not that I'm abdicating you should finish everything you play as if your not feeling a game you're not feeling it. Bottom line I'm indecisive on my Game selection :p

Earlier in the year I went through my library and made note of the games I'd either played to completion or intended to play to completion -- the number was around 1/10th of my library.

Truth be told I think that ratio is about on the money for the majority of collectors. It just so happens you're in the uber collectors club.

Yeah, the strategy map is a piece of DLC.
If you can't get it any other way then I do understand your reasoning.
Still, pretty insane considering the game is going to hit the bomba bin pretty soon :p

yeah, I might play a few later today

sucks that I just have vanilla but not getting that DLC anytime soon, specially after Titanfall and that new SWAT BF

I am not plannign on getting the DLC either, but there seems to be a good amount of people online that did not get it also.

Yeah, I skip pre-ordering if the offer description makes it clear that the DLC/game is going to be released separately, as was the case with Tropico 5; with Murdered, though, there's no reason to believe the map will be made available separately.

I'm on the fence with Sniper Elite 3 as while the DLC is mentioned as a free inclusion the word "exclusive" is also tossed in. Fortunately, there are still a few weeks until the game releases so I might e-mail Rebellion for clarification.

I was going to ask you about this -- if DLC that becomes available later (that was a "pre-order exclusive") ends up with a different sub or not.

Looked expecting something around 1€/$. But that ain't crazy high, almost normal for a fresh release. The Killer is Dead cards are higher for example.

Yeah I did the same thing. I thought to myself "Crap! I wish I would have held on to those."

Until I saw that they were selling for $0.40 each, and I sold mine for almost $1 each on release day.

Nah, it's the same app that just gets its own store sub. Murdered's map does have its own sub but these days Steam by default generates a store sub, beta testing sub and developer sub automatically upon publishing an app, so it's not necessarily an indication that an individual release is on the cards.

I just think it's pretty depressing how a lot of people even here, have completely come around to the idea of season passes and dlc.

Personally I still hate them both, I'll get this way down the line because I am burnt out on DSII.

This is why I usually wait for GOTY editions for most AAA games.

Is the free Sniper Elite v2 appearing in your game list after adding from the store page?

I can install it from the store page but not from my game list because it does not appear.
If I install it, it disappears as soon as I uninstall it.

They have an upcoming release, Juju. Ya, quite a different game than Hard Reset and Shadow Warrior.

The hero's running around with a magical mask? Now I'm imagining Hoji from Shadow Warrior somehow finding his way into a kid's game, which would be hilarious. xD

I didn't install it, just added from the store page, and it's sitting in my games list.

This looks rad. I was going to go vote for it on Greenlight, but it turns out I already did. The art style looks really great.

My stance is that 24 hours should only be applied to giveaways that have much requested games people want, like if I was suddenly going to come in here and giveaway The Forest, Killer is Dead, Resident Evil 4, The Stomping Land, etc., as those are more recent/sough after games, but even then three hours on that has some appeal.

I'm not saying that's how it has to work, but my personal take on it. For quick small little giveaways, 15 minutes will suffice, and for bigger giveaways of a lot of misc codes, three hours will usually suffice.

I've started to go for three hour giveaways to give more people a shot at a game they might want and they're not online to claim it.

Noir Syndrome looks neat and was in the Groupees Retro Bundle 3 which I stupidly didn't buy. http://store.steampowered.com/app/299780/?featured_app=1

And Indiegamestand has Deity Quest (still on Greenlight) for a buck. https://indiegamestand.com/deal/

I'll probably get around to playing Noir Syndrome later tonight. I've heard some negative things about it, but I can't really say no to the concept of procedurally generated detective murder mystery.

As for Deity Quest:
Deity Quest is a light-hearted, pokemon-inspired RPG
I can get behind this.

Either hit the "Install" button from a web browser (not Steam itself; may have no effect) or opt out of the beta client (will definitely work).

howlongtobeat.com is great to discover how long is the game.

This site is full of lies. For example, it told me that Kairo is 3-4 hours long, I've played somewhere around 5 hours, I don't see the ending in sight, so to speak, not that I mind it, I happen to like it more than I thought I would.
I checked some others and compared with my play times, it doesn't compute. It must be said, that if I like the game, I take my time to explore it thoroughly and not to miss any juicy details, so my playtimes are longer usually, but still. For example it says that Skyborn full playtime is 9 hours, that's bullshit, seriously. I'm 100% sure that I missed some stuff as I backtracked very little, and later I passed no return point without noticing it and thought wth and just finished it promptly after that, my timer says 15 hours, granted I leave games sometimes to post or for other reasons and I forget I left them, but still, I simply don't believe that it can be fully finished with all side stuff in 9 hours.
And so on and so on.
Some more popular games are evaluated in playtimes more or less fairly, especially longer ones. So it's not all bad, just has to be my luck that I stumbled on those that are questionable.

Um, I knew that.. um...yeah....

well, I mean my episode 4 added without problems, I had 3 already.

The site operates 100% on user-submitted input. Some game times are more accurate than others, simply because they have more users that have submitted their own times.

The best way to improve the site is to submit your own times when you complete a game.
