Destiny to appear at Sony presser on Monday

will not be the highlight of the presentation, for me.
i'm just not excited for destiny.
if they've got to show 3rd party, I'd much rather seem Mass Effect 4

uggh. third party stuff in the big conferences is dumb, especially when the games publisher has their own show, looking at you UBIsoft/EA

Honestly think they are overestimating the importance of that. When you get down to it, the game is still multiplat. Sure all the marketing will give a slight tilt to the PS4 userbase, but look at CoD, a series that is "associated" with the Xbox - it's selling better on PS4. It's not like the "association" is allowing it to sell equal numbers on the xbone and the PS4 despite the PS4's lead in the US.

It worked for the 360 era. The difference is specs/performance matters and sales ratios matter. Especially given the exodus of 360 faithful to the PS4.

Xbox can marketing agreement what they like, but multiplats will sell better on PS4 this era.

I think Sony made a smart bet on Destiny, they are really handling/showing it off as an exclusive, the premium Destiny experience is on Playstation platforms.

That's what all of them do and have been doing for years. You really must have hated all E3 showing before.

3 more days. I can already feel the electricity in the air. Having the biggest seller of the year appearing at your conference two years in a row was a great marketing move from Sony. I hope they awe us this year though.

I imagine some people will go crazy when Destiny sells a shit ton of copies.

It's going to be bigger than WD, both for Activision and Sony.

WD just came out and sold PS4 almost as much as all the other consoles combined. I think that's a pretty clear indication that exclusive marketing does work very well (we'll have a better picture come NPD). The reason CoD was never this lopsided is because the 360 lead in NA, while the PS3 lead in Europe, so it balanced out. This gen, the PS4 leads everywhere.

Well, Activision doesn't do their own conference shows anymore, if you're aware of that.

Plus. 3rd party games matters on consoles no matter how many times people downplay on it.

at 2-4 a.m this and whatever ubisoft garbage they'll inevitably demo will be a test of endurance

it makes perfect sense to show it of course. it will probably outsell every exclusive shown combined and these big third party games are essential to the ps4's success.

Not all third party stuff. The KH3/FFXV combo was arguably the best thing to happen during Sony's conference last year for instance. I agree that publishers who have their own shows should stay out of the big three conferences though.

Serious question: what exactly about what you've seen of Destiny so far makes it more "amazing" than say The Witcher 3?

Note that I'm asking what you've "seen", not what you've "read" or "heard".

For starters, it looks like Halo. Halo at its best was/is peerless and I can tell from the vids that Destiny will play right (in campaign modes at least).

Literally everything I've seen, read and heard about Destiny (and why exclude those things btw?) has me enormously excited about this game.

Sure, the footage so far hasn't had the flash-bang cheap thrills of a COD trailer, but then we're back to Michael Bay vs Spielberg, and I know which movie I'd rather see.

Do we have hard evidence of this?

This is a VERY important showing for Destiny for Activision/Bungie as far as I'm concerned as calling the recent press previews and impressions "lackluster" would be generous to say the least.

Tell this to the 50% PS4 Watch Dogs in UK.

The reason for that is that the PS4 enjoys has a bigger user-base, Xbone doesnt have that advantage.

So while I can see an Xbone associated multi-plat game selling more on PS4, to have it the other way around will require an enormous (marketing) effort.

They're concluding the strike footage from a few weeks ago.

It WILL be Old Russia, and then probably a highlight reel.

God forbid we leave anything to discover for ourselves when we buy the game!

If the game is as big as they're claiming it to be, showing something other than the location they have showed since the reveal wouldn't hurt. I'm still not sold on this game.

Do we have hard evidence of this?

UK was 49% in favor of PS4, and often times the UK is pretty close to the US (I also think that in the UK, the gap between the two is rather small, no? and the only other region outside NA where it isn't dead). Outside of NA/UK, the PS4 obviously sold the majority since the X1 is practically dead. Like I said, we'll get a better picture come in NPD, but it seems that way.

You seriously have to watch a fan made 20 or 40 minute What we know so far YouTube video to actually know what Destiny is, so they've really fucked up the messaging to the masses.

So this stage is huge, and no amount of no more Destiny changes that.

Heads will turn.

Listen to Kyle Bosman's advise, and shut-up during your presentation. I want to be immersed into a beautiful sci-fi world as a guardian, not be taken out of the moment by your cheesy scripted 'bro-lines.'

Since Joe Staten is no longer with Bungie you might get your wish. Although I have to admit that I'll miss his presentations, they had a certain charm to them no matter how cheesy it ended up being.

That's what all of them do and have been doing for years. You really must have hated all E3 showing before.

not the entire shows, just the overlap we get with some games. for example FarCry3 was demoed at E3 2012 onstage at Sonys conference and UIBsofts.

Well, Activision doesn't do their own conference shows anymore, if you're aware of that.

Plus. 3rd party games matters on consoles no matter how many times people downplay on it.

of course third parties matter, but when we're seeing multiple stage demos for the same game it's gets boring.

is there any question that we'll see an EA sports game in MS's conference and a UBIsoft game at Sony's?

The Destiny hate from so many of you really is baffling to me.
The Destiny love is more baffling to me. It's Halo's lack of style combined with floaty mechanics and MMO trappings with none of the former's interesting (ish) story. The only thing ostensibly good about it is the name of the dev. Where does the hype come from?

1. Game looks boring.

2. Why waste precious time on a boring game, Sony?

(perhaps Destiny became an exciting game since last E3? Would be the biggest surprise at E3, even compared to a TLG reveil)

The Destiny hate from so many of you really is baffling to me.

I refer to my first point. Its not that people hate the game. People have yet to see a game to hate. So far we only saw some spacedudes running around and shooting at other moving spacedudes. And even that wasn´t presented in a spectacular way.

Everyone is so cynical!

Destiny might not be the next step in human evolution but it looks like it could be fun. By the time it's released I expect the marketing to be so pervasive we adverts for it on the inside of our retinas.

Personally, I'd just like them to announce immediate beta access.
