My god... This was a great, unexpected treat. Day fucking one. I loved the first two
If you learn it and don't treat it like Mario, it's manageable imo. I platinum trophied the first game within 48 hours, which was no small feat with The Bunker. The jumping is easy once you learn that materials have different traction and momentum gets you different distances. In the real world, you don't just jump off an edge without a running start and expect to fly 6 feet. It's kind of a necessary evil because the games creation engine functions off real weight, momentum, acceleration and traction. What kind of natural movement does a jumping burlap sack have anyway?
Either way, the issue is overblown because jumping mechanics were completely editable in LBP2.
I'm a major fan of these games but I can't help but think that this is a missed opportunity for making LBP a 3D platformer. New characters and skills is a nice idea and LBP Hub is on the way without us really knowing what it is and I do want LBP 3 but I do think a good 3D platformer would have been the smart move here.
It's not made by Media Molecule therefore i have no interest, for now. :|
So I've never played LBP before, but was wondering does this game have a good single player mode? Or is the game more about creating your own levels and playing them?

SP levels are fantastic, community maps can be better than the main maps, but the overall quality of the SP maps are top notch
the previous lbp games have had short but creative and charming single player (especially lbp2 and lbp vita). i enjoy them single player.
it's hard to say if this one will have a good one because sumo digital are new to the franchise and haven't done any platformers before
I'm sorry but I can't get behind this game anymore. I bought the first 2 with hopes of unlimited replayability which did not happen. That feeling goes away quick and they still kept the floaty jumps.

The person who gets to play as Swoop will be the biggest troll.
That's the thing. "If you learn it... it's manageable." isn't what most people are looking for when they sit down with this type of game.

This reveal was marred for me because I know GAF will continue debating the physics thing until the end of time. I was pleasantly surprised that they've seemingly cancelled Hub and just continued with the existing platform on PS4. Wonder if costumes from the first two will carry over.
You're kidding yourself if 60 frames-per-second is going to be the end-all magical answer to all of LBP's control issues. It's still looking floaty and imprecise to the point even its own developers can't play it properly.I'm pretty sure the "floaty discussion" is just a pseudo-discussion - what people really turns of is 30FPS and the lack of responsiveness they are used from Mario and Co. It's not the physics which are off, it's the framerate. It has that typical "slow reaction" feel of a 30FPS game. And that's uber noticable in a Jump'n Run, where 60FPS is pretty much a industry gold standard for years now. Why they consistently decide against it, no one knows. But sure, the most important thing is that it LOOKS great.

The E3 crowd got super happy as well. This is why I am excited for LBP3 and more people should be. LBP Vita proved that you can have a fantastic SP without MM, and have a crazy amount of User Generated stuff that will blow away your expections.
MM have laid a truly amazing groundwork for LBP and I am fully confident that Sumo, like Tarsier, can deliver a great entry to the series. This is one franchise that defies the opinions of message boards. People love this series, regardless of what you read online. The reaction last night to this at the theater was one of the largest of the night.
Is not 3d because mm themselves are leading the way with a new IP doing that. No need to step on their toes doing a less impressive version of what they are doing.
I just wish the color of the friends was a bit different. They come across kind of same-y color wise. But I get why they are so muted looking.
could this dates be place holders or mistake?

LBP Hub is free to play. And this isn't Bend?Wasn't this supposed to be FTP not going to drop 60$ for a Bend game.
The conference said November, so it would be the quickest announcement > delay ever.could this dates be place holders or mistake?
You can do what you want with them.I just wish the color of the friends was a bit different. They come across kind of same-y color wise. But I get why they are so muted looking.
Sumo actually made a lot of LBP DLC levels.

Didn't Media Molecule say they weren't going to E3 or something??
Greatest surprise for me, didn't see this coming at all, and especially not with a release this November.
Haha yeah I audibly gasped when the logo showed up on stage with no fanfare whatsoever.
Loveeee me some LBP. But the demo didn't really click with me. The new characters are fun but the graphics didn't wow me. Even if it's 1080/60 the levels didn't look that much different. I was just kinda hoping they were working on something new and crazy (maybe they are?). But at least they are filling a gap in the very depressing holiday lineup for me.

Will end up buying out of sympathy for media molecule, as odd as that sounds
That does sound quite odd, since it's Sumo Digital making the game..
