Skipped last gen because I had an inkling they'd re-release on PS4.

Really excited to dive in finally with better everything based on what I see on Naughtydog's site.

No wonder developers can get away with skimping on 1080p and 60 FPS, most people are too uneducated to tell the difference or simply lack the ability to.

I don't remember it looking this blurry on PS3. Guess that goes to show, you remember things looking better. I get that ALL the time going back to gen 5 and 6 games on PS1/N64 and PS2/ XBox/ GC.

Would be great if the title of the thread had "[The following thread contains spoilers]" in vein of the E3 trailer.

F*ck it, I'm buying a PS4 for this. Completed it on PS3 already but I can't miss out on this. Would have to get a PS4 someday anyway. Hope they make a bundle with the console, any plans yet?

PS3 footage is blown up to 1080p, that's why it looks like that.
No it looks like that because the video is horribly compressed.

The resolution bump is definitely noticeable and there are some better textures, but otherwise it doesn't look that much different. Curious to see if the gameplay takes a much more noticeable bump.

At 60 fps and better resolution, the difference will be huge. I'm hoping this hits a solid 60 fps so people can finally see how much smoother 60 fps looks.

Is this ignorance or is there malicious intent behind misrepresenting the difference in quality between the PS3 and PS4 versions? The PS3 version doesn't look anywhere near as bad as this comparison is making it out to be.

The audacity of selling an improved version of the best game of 2013 with DLC included to another platform for 60$.

You must be crazy to buy the definite edition of one of the most awarded games in recent years, specially if you never played it.

As a gamer I feel disrespected by practices such as this, to not even have the decency of making annual games instead, or at least release it again for PS3 as a full priced GOtY edition like everyone else (regardless if they won GOtY awards or not).

People shat and Tomb Raider definite edition but that game had a significant graphics upgrade, new models, all the DLC. PC gamers demanded the game to be a free update to their 10 dollar game.

Microsoft had 4 Halo games at a higher resolution and framerate, and gigantic graphic upgrades to two game from the collection, also Halo 5 beta and some series crap that no one cares.

This game doesn't have a Beta for Uncharted 4 and no significant graphic upgrades, they could had done so much more.

Seiing that and seeing what R* does to GTA V makes me really sad.

Naughty Dog weren't lying when they said you can only see a difference in HQ 1080p videos.

Yeah the PS3 version was not THAT blurry. GS is pulling some shenanigans or their video player has worse compression than Youtube.

Loving how TLOU had the best graphicds ever and now it s at a proper res people realize that it had shit IQ.
I had starting gaming on PC when I back to my ps3 to play TLOU. For a ps3, the graphics were great. I do think they were overhyped though, but the ps4 version running at 60fps is going to be glorious.

Have they confirmed it'll be running at 60 FPS? last I heard they were targeting 60.

Probably just incompetence.

What blows me away are the people who claim the PS3 version really was that blurry. Maybe they have shitty tvs.

I am sure people caring mostly about IQ will be happy. PS3 is 720p, has shitty shadow maps and not every texture was perfect. "Fixing" these three things will make the game look clean enough to satisfy many. But I really hoped for more polygonal detail at least on the main characters and there is not a single sign of the promised improved lighting to be seen.

Sorry, but from that comparison the upport should have been a matter of days (plus getting a PS4 engine up and running of course).

Everything they've shown is 60fps, it's going to be 60fps. I don't know what evidence you need, beyond 60fps trailers and them going out of their way to say that they're aiming for 60fps.

Wow, so ps4 version almost looks as good as actual ps3 version.

I guess that grain filter generates a lot of blur when compressed

WTF is going on here? Gamespot compression must be shitting all over the IQ. Because to me, the direct PS3 capture looks superior to the PS4 pic in a bunch of ways.

Compare the texture detail on the seats/headrests, along with the lack of SSAO in the PS4 shot.

They haven't shown much at all so the only evidence I need is a direct feed gameplay video.

Gameplay running at 60 fps would be nice.

If they are not able to run that game at 60fps that would be really pathetic. There is nothing more than an increase in resolution (screen, textures, shadows). Tomb Raider:DE runs at close to 60 and they have hair physics to process.

I'm curious if they will be incorporating Left Behind into the main narrative. That would be sweet if it occurred as it occurs in the DLC, but spliced right in.

Glad I already finished this on PS3 last year because it was one hell of an experience and well worth playing. For me, the PS4 version does not look to be much of an upgrade. Will definitely pick it up when it gets cheaper (for the included dlc) but for now I'm content with my PS3 copy.

Now GTA V on the other hand ... THAT is worth double dipping on. As soon as I saw that trailer I could tell there was a dramatic upgrade in quality. In fact I didn't even know it was gta v until I saw Trevor sitting on the mountainside. Already sold my ps3 version in preparation to pay towards the ps4 version.

To be fair The Last of Us on PS3 is the nicest looking game of the previous generation and looks better than most PS4 games I have played. Can't really improve much when the bar is set so high to begin with.

That GS video comparison is a joke. The actual ps3 version looks way better than what they are portraying.

Judging from so many comments I read the past months, it's also the developer who is uneducated to tell the difference or he simply lacks the ability to.

It doesn't, I had it on my Sony LED yesterday and it looks much, much clearer in Native 720, Blowing it up to 1080 and then having what looks like a bad feed anyway helps.

Terrible comparison, day 1 for me love the game!

So your Sony LED is a 720p TV?

Yet to play the game so trying not to watch too many spoiler ridden comparisons but from what I've seen does not look like a big leap.

Still, looking forward to having my first experience of the game on the PS4 if I do indeed pick it up.

Making your comparison footage look like utter crap is the oldest trick in the book. How people can watch a video that looks like it was smothered in Vaseline and think that it's legitimate is beyond me (especially when everybody here has played the game).

The real wins for this remaster are going to be some upgraded textures, but more than that having it run at 60 fps. Unfortunately, that is not something that reads well in YouTube videos, so they just doctor up some "blurry image" crap. I suspect it will also help to soothe people into the idea of paying full retail price for the game a second time.

Looking at this particular comparison, the only major graphical difference I can see is that they've added the seatbelt onto the latch behind Joel's neck (not counting the different scenery in the background of course).

That did seem a little strange from that Gamespot video because i didn't recall the PS3 being that blurry.

Wouldn't it be the case that the in game cinematic wouldn't be upped much anyway? That's the area where the game will least likely get improvements... it's the in game stuff (gameplay) we need to see.

This is the game selling me on a PS4. And I played it twice on my PS3. Go figure...

Stay far away from this video if you've never played the game though :O
