So.... I inherited an old Japanese Game Center

Also, if anyone wants a machine, but doesn't want the hassle of finding a game to go with it, you can ask me to switch out a certain game into the machine and buy it that way. You pay for the game as well, but saves you the trouble.

If you can get a shipment going to the east coast instead of the west I feel like you'll get far more buyers on this end of the country. The last group buy somewhat near the east coast (in Chicago) sold out nearly instantly.

Also interested in what an East Coast estimate would be, interested in a non-working Astro City if it doesn't break the bank and is in good condition (judging from the pics OP provided, everything looks amazing just needs a fresh cleaning)

wasn't so much of a group buy as it was more or less "cab" availability in cdamm's shop (he fronted the money for the full crate + all the cabs and took all the risk on his own). luckily I was able to snag one of the NACs, but he has another order that he's preparing for right now.

Chicago would be full on excellent for me if it goes that route. Canadian here, but of all the major American destinations that would be the simplest.

If it was west coast, the logistics make it so I probably would be unable to participate.

God damn, the prices for those cabs is downright insane(ly good). Makes me wish I wasn't in Australia :(

Just out of curiosity, were there any Astro Table (cocktail/tabletop Astro City cabs) there? I love the look of those things!

let me know if Puzzle Fighter falls through - it's one of the few cps2 games I'm still looking for.

I don't know what it is, but those pictures put legit butterflies in my stomach. Makes me nostalgic for reading EGM when I was 10 years old, and ogling over Mortal Kombat II cabinets.

Too bad the majority of them seem to have majhong panels. I'd take an astro city with 6 button panels in good shape.

Pm sent op.

Is it cheaper for these to be sent in batches?
Im on the east coast as well.

Normally cab purchases are shipped in a large shipping container to a port. Its up to you to either pick it up from the port or arrange for it to be shipped from there to you.

I'll look into that as well.

I think it might be more expensive, which means I'll have to increase the price per machine a bit.

Alternatively, you pay the land shipping and we will ship them to you, regardless of location. (land shipping prices are not THAT much)

I was thinking actually on the coast (Richmond or NYC). The guy who did the last Chicago batch is already assembling another one, so I think Chicago will be just fine.

Alternatively, Jasen's Customs should be offering reproduction control panels in the near future.

I really can't imagine sending the entire container over to the east coast would be more expensive than ground shipping a significant number all the way from a west coast port. There's a reason these things rarely leave the west coast.

I'll try and get a quote. It might increase the cost per machine a bit, though.

Shipping the whole container to the East coast would be more than double.

If we get enough people interested in buying around the East Coast, we can ship them somewhere to be picked up, or on an individual basis. The costs can be softened greatly if many users in the same region want machines.

OP you might want to get in contact with http://www.highway.net.au/

They are an arcade distributor located in Australia who buy up shipping containers of cabinets from Japan to recondition and then sell all over the world. Might be an easy way to shift some of your inventory.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
I live in Osaka. Can you just ship a bunch of them to my apt complex? Our laundry room could use some entertainment.

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
Man Imagine if OP had one of the original Capcom Gundam Vs. game boards. Gundam GAF would be Tunderdoming over it lol

If I had some more money to spend I'd definitely buy one of these, but hauling them from Cali to Montreal would add even more to the cost and since I'm not running any business, it'd just be for personal use and therefore not profitable. It's too bad, 'cause I really want one !

For some reason this story ended up on slashdoot this morning

Yeah reddit too.

e: Looks like an entire article popped up on retrocollect which sourced an Arcade Otaku forum post which appears to have been from OP. It's just kind of funny that they took 6 weeks to get an article up out of it.

I know nothing about arcades, but those things are like a time machine. Just looking at them makes me picture them being used in their prime. Thanks for sharing.

you can't put a price on sparks
I like how it's all of a sudden become a puff piece and everything has already been sold off and dismantled

Very timely. Lol

Interested in hearing how much you sold everything for. Understand if you don't want to say, but inquiring minds do want to know how this all turned out.

Pretty surreal story.
