This looks amazing. I'm a huge fan of Homeland so I'm pretty hyped for this. So far, the storyline doesn't seem so bad but feels like a good propeller for a deep and rich storyline.

Everyone on the show is so freaking pedestrian, except Jamal. And his character is also getting pedestrian now that Bassam is reining him in. This show is very disappointing.

The leader of a rebellion, riling people up, and talking about how he wasn't appointed that position will always be a hard pill to swallow. You're trying to say you're better than the dictator, yet are telling another group of people to follow your lead because it's the "right way." Is Ihab honestly any better than Jamal?

I honestly surprised that they still haven't given the daughter anything substantial to do. That's a missed opportunity.

Yeah, I'm not happy to see the effect that Barry is having on Jamal. It's hard to believe Barry would be able to have that strong and immediate an effect in the first place.

Anyway, not a bad episode, but it's definitely starting to drag after a somewhat strong opening. I'll stick it out for now though, well at least until Jamal is completely neutered and loses his more interesting side.

And Samira blindly believing that the group would change when in power. Jesus, she didn't really come off as someone who was so naive and yet here we are.

I laughed my ass off during the failed masturbation scene. We've all been there...right?

It seems to be doing the opposite of Leftovers, which is disappointing as I also had high hopes after the very strong opening.

I think killing the father so soon might have been a mistake, makes for good drama and gives Barry a reason to stay, but I think he should have stuck around a few episodes longer.

Id be willing to forgive some of the glaring flaws of the show if at least it was compelling in some way. As it stands not only are the characters 'meh' but some of them (molly) are vapid black holes of logic.

You're not wrong about Molly, but I'm still finding Jamal and the opposition leader somewhat interesting.

Although Barry is doing his damnedest to make Jamal as limp as possible.

The show has its moments but overall its just dull. Four episodes in and they literally could have condensed everything that happened so far into one episode. I'll give it a couple more episodes to see if it gets better but im not holding my breath.

This is where I stand. I'm hoping that season 2 will be better seeing as the showrunner who wanted the show to be soap-y was let go. The first season was probably written while he was still on, so the second season (if there is one) could very well turn out completely different from this one. That's why I'm hoping that the show will be renewed for at least a second season.

why do these shows always have to some sort of horrifically terrible subplot involving teenage kids

Tyrant is super cliché for now but it's still enjoyable.

Episode four was a bit better than the previous episode, though I still found it to be quite dull.

IIRC, Raff left the show when the pilot was in the middle of retooling so I don't think he had any direct involvement with the show beyond the first episode.

I'm at the brink of dropping this show. It's not just that it feels like an edgy soap, but that every single character in it acts like a complete fucking moron. I wanted to make a list with all the silly stuff that happened in the latest episode, but nearly every important scene had some degree of idiocy, specially the "demonstration" at the square.

Even the characters that should be somewhat likeable are complete assholes or inept beyond redemption.

Damn, didn't expect so much hate for the show. I'm really enjoying it. I'm usually easily annoyed by incompetent characters but so far nobody has bothered me yet. Odd

I'm dropping it. The wife (and the lack of Arabic) was bothering me early on, but now they've seemingly turned every character into Barry's wife, so I'm out.

How's The Strain?

Same thing happened with this as Under the Dome. Good concept, high hopes, pilot was eh, then it just drops waaaaaay down. Speaking of Under the Dome, no idea how it got a second season.

Not a bad episode, but it's really starting to drag now.I had such high hopes for this and Power and both have been pretty disappointing so far.

Power especially, but this isn't the thread for that.
