How is the Retron 5? I've been meaning to pick on up and start my retro collection again. How's the build quality? Any issues with playing the games and are you using the HDMI output?

I don't have one but the opinions I've read are seem rather negative. But the hdmi stuff is neat!

Twin Peaks Blu Ray set - beaten to the punch by M.Steiner!

That is beautiful. Thank you for sharing pics of it presented in the way you did, the preview pics just don't do it justice.

The David Lynch box set of his movies on Bluray had a gorgeous set of postcards with it. Are there any inserts / bits / postcards in it that would look nice framed?

Is it already available in Europe? Where did you find it early?
Not sure where you live, but it officially started today in the Netherlands in the usual electronic/game shops like MediaMarkt, Bart Smit, Gamesmania etc. Several retailers had it yesterday as well, some even last Sunday.

top row, my games from the Mario Kart 8 free game promotion. I essentially got four in total. My process:

1. Buy Mario Kart 8. Use code on club nintendo to get a free game. Redeem code on my Wii U.
2. Sell Mario Kart 8 on ebay for £30.
3. Buy a new copy of Mario Kart 8 from shopto for £34. receive it the next day (as they're awesome).
4. start over using a new club nintendo account.

I ended up spending maybe a tenner extra in total, and I ended up with three free games (, nsmbu, Zelda and Pikmin) along with £20 in eshop credit from the Nintendo Premium promotion as they all counted towards it.

yes!!

and my original mario kart was a pack-in with the Wii U, so it's cost me in reality pretty much nothing!

Edit: oops, Mario 3D world wasn't a free game. It was paid for partly using the credit I built up.

Wait, you can register multiple copies and it counts?

yeah, just register a new club nintendo account each time on the club nintendo website (all you need is a different email address). the download code you get given is no different to any other in relation to the eshop - you can download as many as you want on a single console, its just the club nintendo accounts you type the code into have to be unique.

Found this beauty at a charity shop. Problem is that the game wasn't inside, so I've had to complete it using dirty means (that being eBay):

Front:

Back:

Inside:

In front of some games:

It did come originally with Poser 4 and 5 and another program. Weird that the game itself wasn't there.
At least the manual and the Eidos booklet were there!
The whole thing costed about £5. Love charity shops.

Got Fantastic Mr. Fox from the 50% Criterion Collection sale at Barnes & Noble. Great packaging and lots of cool special features.

Went to Target today for TLOU Remastered and ended up impulse buying Se7en and 3:10 to Yuma too because they were both pretty cheap.

And I bought the Spyderco Tenacious G10 knife two weeks ago, needed a solid EDC folding knife and this one was only about $40 but it's phenomenal.

It´s been awhile since I´ve posted in this thread as I had to restrain my gaming purchasing habits for the past year, but it´s looking better now. Anyways, here are some pickups from this month and maybe a few months back. Want to get a Wii U, but it seems Mario Kart 8 did move consoles over here as I hardly see them in stock anymore.

Also since my Sony Walkman from 2010 crapped out earlier this year, and I don´t really like using my cellphone for music, I got this Sansa Fuze + 4 GB + 32 GB Micro SD card for $30 USD. Stock firmware sucks, so naturally I put RockBox on that, and even though it´s labeled as unstable it´s pretty much perfect, and absolutely necesary for it to be even remotely usable. Works great with RB.

Decided to buy the European edition after all, as buying the uncut American edition seemed too much of a hassle with everything involved, and I most likely won't be playing the multiplayer this time either. The bullshit censorship is still souring though.

Birthday presents from the wife this morning. She knows I've wanted an AC hoodie for a while so that was a nice suprise, and while the box for the headphones doesn't scream quality, they're actually outstanding.

L7O4xLcl.jpg

Some games I picked up earlier in the month for the grand total of £8. Been wanting DQ9 for a while, and playing though the first Dragon Age currently before 3, so though best to get the one in between for the grand sum of £3.

I love playing on the gamepad, I love MK8 and I love Donkey Kong so this has been a great buy so far. Chose Pikmin 3 as my free game. Tried out Wii Mode, and it makes Xenoblade looks great on my tv, and I never finished it so yeah, time to finish Xenoblade before X hits.
I think it's also time to replay the Mario Galaxy games and buy Super Mario 3dWorld.

I'll buy a PS4 somewhere next year, hopefully there's a revision then.

Anyway, if anyone want to add me, my NNID is GasProblem.

love the artwork on the other side of the cover art.

14596410650_156287b904_z.jpg

I wish mine was like that. Sony went really cheap with the Euro version, by making the censored version the only one available, and cluttering the Scandinavian covers with all the region's languages. =( Considering, that they did all of that to save costs, it should have been cheaper here.

How is the Retron 5? I've been meaning to pick on up and start my retro collection again. How's the build quality? Any issues with playing the games and are you using the HDMI output?

As someone who doesn't want 11 (and growing) consoles plugged into my TV at once, it's nice to have something that can always be plugged in and ready for an old game at any time. For most games, you're not going to notice a difference, especially since you can use the original controllers on it. I've played through a few games including Zelda II and Mega Man 2 and nothing felt "off." Having save states instead of writing down passwords is nice. Ultimately, though, it is not perfect. There is definite lag. I tried Rhythm Tengoku for GBA and it's just about unplayable, especially on harder levels. In terms of build, it's heavy plastic, but it still feels like I'm going to crack the thing when I have to use all my force to remove cartridges. If you've read anywhere about how the Retron 5 has really tight cartridge slots, they weren't kidding. I don't think there is any options in terms of hook ups. I'm pretty sure it's only HDMI. I've ordered a Framemeister and look forward to comparing.

The last of my pick-ups for this month since TLOU Remastered doesn't release here until the end of the week.

Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (Deluxe manga box set)
I fell in love with this edition as soon as I saw it on here last week and knew I must have it heh. Really beautifully made.
This has always been my favourite Miyazaki movie but after reading so much praise about the manga just recently it sounds like I'll be in for a treat when I eventually get to reading this ^^

The second best game in the SNK VS Capcom cross-over, behind Match Of the Millennium.

Had the Xbox one version for ages, but the DVD drive in that thing gave up the ghost years ago.
