I'll be released on PS4 with about 5 months till PS5 release.
Then, a year later, a Remaster will come out and it shall be...

GAME OF THE GENERATIONS

It's coming according to the leaked lineup list for the presser

No Shenmue 3? Gamescom hype deflated... :(

As far as i'm concerned Sony's reluctance to call the game cancelled can be interpreted three ways; it's all but dead yes Sony sees the value of keeping to hope alive in order to get people to buy PS4s, it's in active development but has undergone so many changes and reboots that even the Sony brass doesnt know whats going on anymore, or they decided a couple of years ago to put all their eggs in TLGs bucket for one big splash on the PS4.

Where is Y2Kev? No TLG thread is complete without Y2Kev! :p

As for the question. Do i still believe after all this time?

It's weird- it's more vaporware than FFXV, but its makers are adamant it's coming. Meanwhile FFXV's been revealed and we have a fair idea of how it will play, but there's been more uncertainty over its completion ever then. Which game is more real?

They could always do a reboot origin story. The First Guardian, starring a wisecracking bird-cat named Tricky.

Picture a four way intersection. At the center you have a $100 bill. Now at the far end of each road you have The Last Guardian, the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, and, let's say Uncharted 4. Which will get the $100 bill?

God's had his chance.
They'll drag it out like grandmas old bones and dance it around a couple more times before finally burying it in a shallow grave.

Hoping i'm wrong while quietly knowing i'm right.

No one wants a throne you've been sitting on!
Im just going to say no because I like hearing the sound of things breaking.

(like GAF members hearts)

:D

This thread is like activating a Y2Kev signal.

Just so these bloody threads will end, I fucking hope so. It'll be worse than the fucking Shenmue garbage if it never comes out. "Oh my god what would we have if Last Guardian came out blah blah puke crap blah" NOTHING. NOTHING. NO ONE EVEN KNOWS WHAT THAT GAME IS.

Just fucking release it already.

Regardless of what anyone at Sony has to say about the game, if it's not at TGS (or even Gamescom) this year, I'm not holding my breath for it.

I'm starting to question if it was even announced in the first place. It might be some kind of sectioned-off alternate reality in my mind.

nah that shit is dead

Shu just doesn't want to be the bad guy in this but...it ain't happening

He also doesn't want to enrage the fanbase that's been waiting for the past 8 years.

Hell, The Getaway 3 and Eight Days for PS3 were "still alive but on-hold," according to SCEE. This was in 2009.

Sony has a bit of a precedent not officially announcing permanent cancellations. And why should they? Announcing a cancellation is nothing but bad PR, and Sony can just string it along indefinitely until people forget about it, so why not lie?

Yeah, but it will never live up to the astronomical expectations people have built up for it, so it might as well not ever come out.

Is a company as big as Sony allowed to not tell its Playstation investors that a major project that is projected to have high interest gets cancelled? Or do we think they have told them and are just keeping it hush?

I feel like they can't get away with faking an all but dead game's development.

No.

Shenmue III and Final Fantasy VII HD Remake are probably more likely to see the light of day than The Last Guardian.

Fuck yeah! TLG on PS4 December 2015 - BELIEVE

Sure they can.

The brilliance about SCEJA's setup is that Sony doesn't keep the Team Ico members in Team Ico. They use them for other projects. So technically, even though the Team Ico members have been spending the past 5 years working on other games, they are still "attached to The Last Guardian" and therefore "the work is not cancelled."

Sony obfuscates lots of other things to their investors...why wouldn't they obfuscate the development of a game?

They're just doing it because they don't want the negative PR. In 2016 we'll still hear "It's not cancelled! It's in active development!" coming out of Mr. Yoshida's smug mouth.

I've already played the Last Guardian. I've become it. I AM the last guardian. Anything sony does with that game from this point forward will be nothing other than a mere reflection of a reality I've already experienced in both the mental and physical world according to the time line I'm currently perceiving. At first I thought none of this made sense but then I re-watched the trailer from years ago and realized that it's not that Sony hasn't released another one for us to see. It's that we weren't seeing what was already there. After that I continued to embrace the thought that maybe time hasn't passed at all since the last time I was anticipating the title. If I'm actively waiting for something from second to second, even when I'm not, does that mean that not a second went by the last 5th of my life when I wasn't waiting to experience something I could experience any time I wanted? I continued to play with the idea that maybe Sony has already released the last guardian. Maybe we've all played it. Everyone loved it. And then hated it. And then it was voted gaf game of the year. Polygon gave it 7. But the point is we played it. If you accept this to be true then you're probably thinking that's impossible because we haven't even seen it. But that's what you guys don't understand. Project Morpheus fits in with this perfectly. I began to continue thinking about this when my head hit the pillow and I thought, what if we haven't just played it once? What if we've anticipated and played the last guardian more than once? How many games has Team Ico released in the last 5-8 years. Think about it and I mean think about it. It all adds up. Perception is one thing but this is overwhelming. I'm in no way concluding that Sony has figured out a way to release the same game over and over, a game which manages to alter our perceptions of the very fabric of reality and time every single time that we play it. Keeping us in a perpetual loop of hype and excitement. Perhaps this is what is meant by manufactured hype. What does Sony gain with this and where does Morpheus fit in and are there any other clues or games or evidence that add to this. IMO the evidence is overwhelming but one thing still keeps me up at night. What do they have to gain? Whatever, regardless of what's true and what isn't, I'm really hyped for the game and I already have it pre-ordered. It's gonna be amazing.

By next year's TGS will be the final verdict of its status in my opinion. It will either be shown next week, TGS, E3 2015, Gamescom 2015 or TGS 2015 at the latest. After that its officially dead.

sony pls

I've been searching the Internet for information about Team Ico's project for more than 7 years now.

The Last Guardian died when it wasn't announced as a PS4 launch title back in early 2013. :p

I have hope and I want to believe that we'll see it next year or the year after that or the year after that or the year after that or the year after that......

TGS. If it wasn't gonna happen they won't be reassuring fans that it's still on the way, they would try to just brush it off.

When it's not shown off at TGS this year, we'll have the usual "It'll be at E3 2015" talks, once E3 2015 passes by, we'll get the "It'll be at TGS this year". Repeat the cycle until we get to the PS7
