I decided to register myself at a well-known forum after having lurked there for about 3-4 years. I visited a subsection and introduced myself in the introduction thread. I got banned permanently after my intro post and the reason was that the moderator said I was a banned member who just re-registered again. Of course I was mindblown by the fact that a moderator would treat newcomers like that. Might as well just not let anyone register anymore.
That just made me wonder: how would you prove that you aren't a troll they had in the past? You're basically asked to prove (well I wasn't even asked to do so) that you aren't a certain person that was on the forum before (in other words impossible). How would you deal with it GAF?

I've been a moderator on (smaller) forums before, and most of the trolls were either identified via identical/similar IP-addresses or similar writing "style"/general douchebag-behaviour. I guess the latter doesn't apply to you, so you either had bad luck and got the same IP as the troll or just a shitty moderator. You really can't do something about either, unless you want to try again with a totally different IP for the first few posts (university, VPN, whatever).
I suppose so yeah. I did ask the mod to tell me what evidence he is using to suggest I am the same person but I got childish replies like "lol nice try" or "we don't accept trolls", basically he was fully dedicated in believing I was some troll he dealt with in the past. I did actually bring up the issue in the help section of the forum where I thought other moderators could help out with the issue (had to create a second account for that). I explained the problem clearly and he then half-banned me (restricted me from posting, could still send private messages). I tried to solve the issue with him in a civil manner through pms but it didn't lead to anything with the attitude he had so I simply told him I'd speak with other moderators about it. He then banned me again.
I did try to contact three other moderators to talk to them about the issue but got no reply. Could be that they were busy, get lots of messages, reported me to that mod themselves or simply saw my replies by the time I was banned. Anyway not a very welcoming atmosphere, but then that mod didn't exactly seem like a very bright person. I can imagine it being hard for moderators in general having to distinguish between trolls and new members though.
I'll stop trying as well. I created a third account and once again contacted a new moderaor but the same mod that banned the other two accounts banned the third. At this point it's meaningless and I'm just being something akin to a spam bot. It's a shame because I was kinda looking forward to join the community there, oh well.
You might as well share the website here at this point. Anyway, I wouldn't really want to be a member of a community in which standards of moderation were this low.
Skyscrapercity. Overall it's a website with very good content, but it's a website with 800k+ members. There's bound to be stupid shit like that in such a large community.

My wife's friend's son looks exactly like him, so I want to find it and show my wife. But I can't seem to find this picture anywhere.

Sooo...my friend gave me his old Galaxy S3, and after much research my only way to unlock is to pay someone or to somehow get my carrier to give me an unlock code. Anyone have any luck with either? I've seen a few people online suggest chatting with reps to try and get one.

My parents just got the latest model Sony Bravia. The weird thing is sometimes the picture looks like its fast forwarding slightly even though it isn't. This effect is especially noticeable when watching blu-rays. Whats the deal with that? And how do I fix it?

Maybe it has that feature where it tries to raise the framerate but then it's like the TV I had at a hotel the other month where it can't keep up with the picture and just makes the frame rate high when the picture's really still?

Look around in the options and see if MotionFlow is turned on. I can't remember if Bravia's have that setting for all inputs or each individually. Mine is four years old now, but I believe the setting was accessed through the quick pop-up Options menu.

I can't math and need to find the maximum number of possibilities for a particular combination of letters. There are four letters, like with DNA, so let's just say they're G, C, A, and T. They cannot repeat within the four-letter sequence so no GCGT, ATTA, etc. How many possible permutations are there?

Hey guys. I hung out with my buddy today who just moved back to town for a girl and, surprise surprise, a week later she kicks him out and he's living with a friend but mostly out of his car. He'll be fine and got his old job back starting Wednesday.
Anyways, to the point. He's got an HP laptop that he left the charger in Indiana so it's useless. I've got the model number but nowhere on the machine is the model NAME. I've found a bunch of sites saying HOW to find the model number, but I need to know what to DO with it once I've found it. I need to find the model type of his laptop so we can order him a charger for it.
Of course I'll be more than happy to do the legwork but if anyone here is like an HP pro or some shit the model number is- F9H6OUA#ABA
I've had no luck so far. Kmart wanted nearly $70 and Radioshack $40 but I'm thinking this is a proprietary charger, though I bet I can find it much cheaper on Newegg or Monoprice or Amazon. The ones around here in stores were all just generic laptop chargers that didn't look like they would fit this model, which looked almost like the connectors on the new iPhones.

BritishGAF: How often do you use miles (or other imperial measurements) as measurement? I've heard it used in Harry Potter and Doctor Who.
All the time (for distance). All of our road measurements and road signs are in miles and yards. We, for some odd reason, like mixing up the metric and imperial system. However, in school, we are taught the metric system . I refer to my weight in stone, but food measurements in kg and grams. Weird.
Generally:
Distance: Imperial (real life use) Mathematical use (Metric) For smaller measurements or my height, a mix again . Milk measurements usually have an alternative in pints on the side.
Liquids: Metric
Weights: Mix, mostly metric Food Weight : metric, some food stalls may use pounds

Bump, anyone guys and gals? If there's nothing I can do, then so be it.
The one I know of is Recuva, because files are never 'deleted' on your drive, just overwritten and rewritten (in Laymen's terms). It's why computer forensics can recover so much data. The program doesn't guarantee recovery, and it's from the developers of the infamous CCleaner.
I would ask Techsupport GAF too for better programs and info.

At the moment, the flagship phones of this year are the
- S5
- HTC One (M8)
- Xperia Z2
- LG G2
- and the new cheap alternative, the OnePlus One.
Other Android phones that are due an update in one month are the Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Alpha, Moto X +2, Xperia Z3 or phablet successor, the LG G3 Prime and the HTC One Max 2. These are mostly phablets except the Moto X+2 and maybe the Alpha.
The other choice would be the Nexus 5 , which is getting a refresh November/December time, but that may be a bit way off if you want to wait.
First, decide what you want out the phone, because it's hard to advise on the parameters you gave, since there a number of phones.
Don't forget, if you want to go smaller, you can get the min versions of the HTC One Mini 2, G2 Mini, and S5 Mini, Sony M2 (around 4.5 inches), but these are mid range phones instead of flagships.
