Sony Gamescom: PS4 install base exceeded 10 million units sold through globally.

Hrm? It's true, unfortunately. Wait, that's not unfortunate. Then fortunately? Well whatever, it's business. Sony has been growing a lot in the financial resources category the past few years and it's saved them from looking even more horrible while they're trying to overhaul their electronics brands. It was only this past quarter for the first time in probably-since-the-PS2 that both the PS division and Sony Corp posted an overall profit. PS and phones are improved. TVs and PCs still need a lot of help.
"Power of the Dudebro" is my new favorite term, especially since I love to mock that demographic a lot. That's a legitimate point, though. Microsoft solidly held the "dudebro" crowd all of 7th generation--Particularly in NA--And they were surely assuming from day 1 of design of the XB1 that they had it locked up.

What bashing? Btw the XBO concerns are b/c of long-term trends and its weak presence in other markets and even its stronghold markets. It's selling well now....it may not be selling well in the future (it's kinda not selling well now already).

December alone will do ~3 million.... that is how consoles sells in holidays lol... even consoles less successful than PS4 did that.
We are locking for 1+ million only on Black Friday week.

MS really needs to consider a major shift in strategy. Cost reductions at any cost. Timed Exclusives are not going to shift this train.

Unlikely. Maaaaaaaaaybe 18m if they are extremely lucky during holiday season.
But 20mil will be reached easily by the end of Q1 2015 with the help of Bloodbourne, Order 1886, Witcher 3 and maybe Arkham Knight.

But keep in mind that this is all based on the (unlikely) assumption that the PS4 hit 10 million today, cause we don't know the real date.
Also the PS2 and Wii numbers are shipments, while the PS4 number is sold to consumers.
So the shipment numbers are higher (comparing launch aligned shipments i would strongly guess PS2>PS4>Wii).
They are definitely under a 2.5:1 ratio. They sold through 3m WW by the end of 2013 and have sold through 1.1m by the end of June in the US alone.

I know they're ugly, but I wanted to emphasize the lines are interpolated. Also, the Xbox One has a +/- 550k error. (sorry for the color blind)

Every single one of my predictions either has come true in some shape or form or was based on sound enough reasoning where the likelihood of it happening was nearly as feasible as it not happening so continue finding the most popular bandwagon to jump on instead of opening your eyes to the possibilities out there.
I'd go into more detail now but the ferocity with which I'm typing this servage into my phone is making the old lady on the train sitting next to me nervous.

I think the comparative stability of the global economy and the global games industry as a whole is one of the reasons why this feel like such a strong launch. I know I for one am hoping that having a dominant console and successful PC/console ports can give "B" tier studios and games a chance to be profitable.

Comeback of the decade. Who expected all that after the downfall of the PS3 in the beginning of the last generation.
Even with that credit card crisis inbetween Sony managed to come back step by step. The PS4 success is build on intelligent and rational decisions. Sony did it right. Right price, right statements. Just a great package.
And they even managed to keep the hype alive throughout the summer drought. Sales will only become stronger now. I hope they keep delivering good games.

Xbox is not selling well. It had a good first holiday season and since then has had a multitude of issues and has routinely sold less than the 360 did in similar months respective to each console's launch.

Nope, the Wii was a one of a kind revolution. Plus it launched super cheap and tapped into a market that normally didn't game. There won't be another Wii, but it's possible the PS4 ends up selling more than it, it'll just take longer.

I honestly don't think so. Wii on average sold more than 500K each month for NPD back in 2008. Absolutely insane sales.
Erm. MS announced a terrible product in every conceivable way. The only logical prediction was that they would struggle to match the clearly superior product. It was obvious back then as it is today.
They didn't even have a coherent marketing strategy. Sony has had it relatively easy really. But you can only beat what's put in front of you....
