It's not broken, it's just designed in a stupid and confusing manner. The controls on the left adjust the balance between chat and game audio. You press the lower button and chat gets louder, and the game gets quieter. Press the top button and the opposite happens. The controls on the right are for the overall volume, affecting both chat and game audio.
I have no idea what they were thinking with this, as there isn't any way to tell what balance you currently have, you've simply got to play with it until it seems correct to you. It'll beep when it's at the limit of either direction. Which in your guys case is almost certainly fully tilted to game audio right now.

I have had this just since the last update. I also have it lock up on me. I am unable to move the selected window for several seconds.
It's exactly how the Astro A50's work. There's no way to tell how loud you have it or the balance until you hit the ends or middle. You just have to fiddle with it until you have it to your liking.
sometimes commands don't execute and then get all done at the same time, so it looks like the dash is freaking out. It's a lag thing.

Maybe this is thing Microsoft can do to improve the X1 controller? Here's a link to Xbox's feedback site where users can vote on features that Microsoft looks into and might add later. I thought so too, but the number of actions never match the number of buttons pressed during that period. It also happens when I don't press any buttons, outside of the guide button of course, at all.

Anyone else having issues with achievement notifications not popping? I'm getting the achievements after the fact but ever since they supposedly implemented that fix to make us get the achievements that didn't pop, they're no longer showing up on screen when I get them. Already tried a hard reset too.

I'm in the beta and even I still don't have the friend's tab! I have the new share/like functionality in the legacy friends area, but I still do not have the new tab. It is hilarious how Microsoft has been handling the preview program where they now aren't even including everyone in the preview program within the preview of the functionality. Maybe they should have not been so liberal with their distribution of the program invites...

Friends tab won't roll out to the public August update. I'd say September is likely though as everyone in the preview program is getting it with 1409.

Yeah, me too. But for the most part, with the general public, MKV = pirate. And really once you rip to MKV you could (whether you admit it or not) sell your disc.
