Though seriously, with Dan and jason in and Vinny being able with Alex to do their own stuff, there is a shit-ton of free content recently.

Actually what prompted me to finally sub two years ago or whatever was when they had a non-sub UPF or TNT and I liked it so much I wanted more. I had just been content with bombcast and QLs.

People say this everytime he's on, but Rorie's good on the podcast. He seems to have a passing familiarity at least with almost every topic, and usually ends up getting the conversation going in fun directions.

Rorie can be irritating sometimes - I think he knows that - but he always contributes well.

They should provide non-subs a sample of what premium offers.

I think YouTube does that job perfectly at the moment. I was wondering what Unprofessional Fridays were like or some of their other premium streams before I got a subscription, and after watching some of the YouTube clips of highlights, it convinced me to go and get a subscription. It would be great, like an earlier poster said, if free users can have a limited time or limited number of video per series to also gauge their interest.

It would be great if Giant Bomb themselves made informercials proclaiming the benefits of premium. Like they did with the app and GIANT BOMB DOT COM!.

I think Jeff's disgust at WWE's shameless whoring of their subscription service might be a good indication that they're not likely to start pushing subs on people anytime soon.

Heh. There's a difference between mentioning it every other sentence, and making some promotional videos and similar stuff :)

Welp, I guess this is happening.

"the first cinematic title of a new generation" it says on the back. Hmm, I don't know about this, guys!

I played the Vita version of MGS a year or so ago (never played a MGS game before) and really liked it EXCEPT for the hilariously AWEFUL german voice acting that really did it's best to make every singly scene unintentionally hilarious.
God, it's so bad it's probably worth experiencing.

There's no way they'll be able to have Drew encounter the memory card Psycho Mantis trick will they, simply because of the way the digital memory cards work?

Such a cool moment. Shame he'll miss it.

Although I will be curious to see how they handle that fight. Dan sets up a camera on Drew without him realizing it so we can watch him juggle controllers?

My dumb ass actually beat Mantis without changing the port the first time I played the game. I didn't have internet back then, I didn't know any better. I had to hold the controller upside down, but I did it.

Campbell even explicitly mentions controller port 2 at one point, but I only had one controller. I thought he meant if I had a second one I could use that.

Since they are playing on a PS3, it won't involve any juggling, just pressing the PS button and so on... would've been cool though!

This Metal Gear video is great. Video spoilers:
Drew being flustered while alerting the whole facility, and then shooting all his bullets, is hilarious. Made even better by Dan's maniacal laughter in the background.

Dan and I share a similar love of harmless schadenfreude, it seems.

Love that this is happening. Passively watching MGS is just as fun as playing the game itself. Can't wait to see Drews reactions to 2. It's going to be fun!

good thing about starting at MGS1 (and thats assuming that they go all in on this) is that once drew wraps his head around how MGS1 controls, he's set for MGS2 & 3.

Haven't seen the video: do they mention whether they're going to play past MGS1?

Couldn't you replicate the memory card trick simply by inserting the original games into the PS3, making a save with them and then using the memory card manager on the PS3 to import those saves back into the MGS virtual memory card?

Dan should do that behind the scenes just to make that entire encounter more memorable when the time comes.

I just put it in and oh nooo, I hadn't thought about not being able to switch to English. Goddamnit, lol. The voices are awful.

SOTN and Suikoden are both on the PSN store so that shouldn't be much of an issue.

Dan's giving out a bit too much information, I think.

He was doing the same thing during the demo disc video. Dude needs to chill and let drew discover the madness on his own.
