What's objectionable about Duck Hunt Dog or Bowser Jr.? Guns? Cannons?

So does that mean every character with guns not shown is deconfirmed? Since Shulk has a sword, does that apply to ANY characters with weapons?

They didn't seem to show DHD in motion though, so maybe they left him there thinking they were safe, and more characters were unfinished at the time of the video.

Just for arguments sake... I think this roster could very well be final.

It doesn't, but Sakurai also doesn't like people leaking stuff and spoiling the surprise for everyone. He cut out any Subspace Emissary kinda thing because he didn't want people to just youtube the cutscenes even.

The cutscenes were the best parts of the SSE. Without them, the mode is just a bad Kirby clone with a horrible art direction.

We're talking about the man who completely threw out the idea of another SSE-like story mode because the cutscenes for said mode leaked online.

He must be beside himself.

I know. Poor guy. He definitely wanted to be the one to show all of this off. It totally lessens the wow-factor.

Duck hunt dog reveal could have been a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge wtf, but now, we know it's coming.

Honestly I liked it, but after finishing it at the hardest mode I never went back to it.
Adventure mode was more replayable with the scores and stuff.

Super hyped for Smash Run.

  • Today, we had this massive leak.
  • Tomorrow, there's the Pokémon game annoucement.
  • Wednesday, there's the Mario Kart 8 update.
  • Thursday, Gunvolt releases in the US.
Add the PotD (and presumably more music) and you've got one hell of a week.

With Nintendo stepping in on the leaked videos, tonights POTD will be very interesting...

Good.

Then he has the same emotion I had when Ganondorf was outed as clone.

FOR THE THIRD TIME.

I'm mad about that, too... And the Stage Roster... And also Lucas and Ice Climbers, but I still can't help but feel bad that his dream of an Unleaked Smash still isn't true.

But, again, Nintendo will know that I'm pissed off about the stage selection in this game, unless for some reason the new Sonic/DK/Pikmin/Kirby/Wii Fit/R.O.B./Wario/Yoshi/Metroid/Star Fox/other Pokemon/Zelda stages are secret for whatever reason, and Mario isn't just dominating the stage selection. Or at least the DLC better not be paid; I love DLC, but the Melee scraps are what should've been DLC, not any-and-all-new-stages for these franchises.

It really is, it makes me a little sad about following all this leak stuff so closely - but not bad enough that I'll stop.

FORTUNATELY for Sakurai, "we" are only like 5% of the Smash Audience. Most people will still have a powerful WTF reaction when Duck Hunt is revealed.

You think Sakurai actually goes online and reads all of this crap and hears about leaks from anywhere other than Nintendo reps, or maybe Twitter?

The dude is finishing up two entire games. The pic of the day has nothing to do with ANYTHING that happens on the Internet. It's all in our imagination.

I know, I know, no fun allowed.

Wait what? SSB4 was gonna have a Story Mode but they cut it out?!? Are you fuckin serious?!!?

No. It probably never even made it to the drawing board, for a number of reasons, including, but definitely not just limited to, that the cutscenes getting leaked online ruined the surprise.

Technically if you count Wario and Yoshi as Mario series which they are subseries, Mario takes up roughly 1/5 of the whole roster. Yeah.

Good POTDs after this would be information that wasn't leaked. Confirming there are more characters or stages, for example, would really get people talking and would bring attention back to official news, rather than leaks.

The problem with leaks is they have no control over what information spreads. Look how confused we are over the last few CSS slots. DLC, no DLC? We don't know. Maybe there are more stages, but now this leak makes the list look small, but we don't know because the game leaked and now the leakers control the narrative.

Prepare for the worst, guys. That character select screen might be all we're getting.

At the VERY least, that's 49 characters, (52 if you include the variations of the Miis). That's the worst case scenario.

I played SSB64 in college for hours upon hours and was thrilled with my 12 characters, dammit.

Yeah, it would be kind of awesome (and totally out of character) to drop a huge bomb in the next PotD to prove they still have a few secrets up their sleeve.

A huge bomb... hmmm... huge. What would be the biggest thing they could reveal that hasn't been spoiled yet?... I know there's something, I can't quite put my finger on it though...

*EDIT* Seriously though, some hard info about whether or not there's DLC seem like a good way to go, just to keep us guessing.

Eh, we're 5% of the smash audience, true, but this leak will spread beyond us. The same people who watch the newcomers trailers on youtube/smash's website likely will know about the leak. It's the people who don't follow it at all and then buy the game that will be surprised.

Chorus Kids... please be in. ;_;

My only hope at this point is that I don't see Gematsu getting Shulk right and the Chorus Kids wrong.

Argh. I just want to know about the Chorus Kids... everything else I can wait for!

But Shulk has been a requested character the whole time. The game was also quite popular in Japan and has a new game in the series announced. It was not an out there guess like Chorus Kids.

I have no doubt that most game developers go online and read what people are saying about their games. Some might do it only rarely though, if they're sensitive to criticism or whatever. But the disconnected vibe we get, officially, from a lot of the people at Nintendo is probably just part of the company policy.

So, this is all moving a million miles a minute and I just saw the new stuff from today, so it's probably been discussed already, but I'm guessing the 4 veterans + chorus kid DLC is real. 5 more characters fits perfectly on the roster leak. I'm willing to bet they were all planned from the beginning and have stuff in game but were delayed just to make sure the games are both out by Black Friday. It would make sense to delay characters that are hardware intensive and thus very time consuming (IC & CK) as well as old clones that are less missed and thus less important for launch (Lucas and Wolf). The only weird character from that list is Snake, but who the hell ever knows what's going on with him.

All of which leads me to believe that, yes, the second DLC list is probably fake. It's possible something is/was planned for all of those characters, but I'd bet even if that were true they were probably originally planned as DLC. They will be a while off and likely paid if real.
