Worth getting on 360? Haven't got Madden at all since PS2 days. And is connected franchise mode on last gen?

This is the worst buyers remorse I've ever had. Its not the game but the players online that are killing the experience. Non stop hurry up offense and going for every 4th down. I don't mind losing but these tactics are ridiculous. Haven't played season mode since Madden 06 so I may give that a try and stay offline till I find a sim league.
I've had such bad experiences with Madden online over the years. With Madden 09 I had around 270 online games played, about 180 of which I won. I met so many mean spirited people along my journey...
I've played six games today already, no bugs or weird sutff happened yet.
I just wanna say again how terrible the replays are. Not q single wide angle replay in six fucking games. I hope this is a bug and gets adressed soon cause it's a problem for a graphics whore like me.
Other than that, as a casual football fan this game is awesome. I might play my seventh game today lol.
They finally got rid of the players bouncing off each other after a tackle, they now drop like they were shot in the head but it's an improvement at least. The graphics are a big upgrade, my main gripe so far is that in the only rainy game i played the water was just an effect on the screen. No water splashes, no effect on the players visually or gameplay wise, it's just a lame visual effect with no actual effect on the game or interaction with players or the field at all.
Great game overall.

The playbooks in these games are so random some times. So the Dolphins playbook will have a PA pass off of a run action that isn't even in the playbook for that formation. So it's impossible to set someone up with a run and then PA off that specific run action because the playbook omits that basic cohesiveness.
I started creating a custom playbook and just rebuilt the plays for one formation. I ran that one formation for an entire game against the CPU and my results were significantly better.

Number one reason I'm excited for this is because it means we might just be getting a new season of Breaking Madden!

This can theoretically happen during a game. If the center hikes the ball to qb, the qb can then give the ball back to the center between his legs and the center can try to run the football.

Possibly the greatest Madden of all time, 06 PS2 that is. This one is very impressive, although I'm still working out my gameplan, play book, audibles. Not to mention the crazy new shit on defense, which I'm still not sure how I feel about.
Also why the hell do they switch the controls around every year? Last year it was up to do hot routes, now it's back to triangle like it was before that.

It's a big difference between the two there if we're just talking about visuals. Obviously not suggesting it is some huge deal.

Both are supposedly 1080p. But I don't have the equipment that would be needed to test that.

Anyway, just lost a game, 17-14, on a FG in OT. Trouble is it was the first possession of OT, which means I should have gotten the ball, but instead the game ended. Fuck you EA.

I can't stop playing the Skill Trainer for some reason. I haven't played a Madden in a while and I always wanted them to add a 'this is what Cover 2 means', 'this is what to do against a Cover 4', etc. Great they have that now.

Strange glitches happened often in the PS2 Maddens -- remember many games being won/lost via catches where hands went through bodies.
Really, the PS2 Maddens had a ton of problems.

Is this worth buying? I haven't bought a Madden since 2012 and the reviews on this are mixed. Plus Madden doesn't exactly have the best name in gaming right now with all the rehashing EA sports has been doing yearly. But I want to finally get into a Madden game and I hear that the training mode is really good this time around. What's the consensus? I'll be buying on ps4 as well.
It is a MASSIVE upgrade from 2012, especially since you're going PS4. Your mind will be blown.
This year's game feels very fresh. I am enjoying it much more than year's past and I didn't have too big a problem with that.
I just hope they continue developing and growing the game. I hope what we see now isn't basically "it" for this gen....as in, after this year, they start rolling out minimal improvements.

The last Madden I bought was '13 on 360, and I just got this on PS4 last night. It's way better. Not to say that it's perfect, because it's far from it, but it's the best Madden I've played since '08.

Yeah, its much better when its a different time of day and clouds arent blocking the sun dynamically.
Look at the shadows on the field, the sun is not on the same position in both pictures.

I used to complain about this too but then I realized generally people who go for it on 4th are retards and the hurry up is fair game... Just make sure you put the right defensive groupings on the field and make your defensive adjustments at the LOS

Wow. That sucks :/
So I've never actually put effort into learning franchise mode in Madden. In the past I was happy playing season modes where all I had to do was play the games, and my go-to mode for any sports game these days is player mode. I do miss playing team games though, but all the scouting/trades/training/micro-managing stuff turns me off of franchise mode every time I try it. Any tips on how I can break that wall down a bit?

I've played 7 games online so far and everyone would punt and kick field goals when necessary. I guess I've been lucky. But I do know what you mean from past games.

I may try this before completely giving up on the game. The problem is my swiss cheese defense. I can't consistently get stops and when 4th comes, my opponent will pass and get it 75% of the time. I'm getting gashed with the run and pass. If I play zone, there's holes to pass, man just gets beat with slants and drags. Maybe I'm just past my prime, back in Madden 05 I was ranked in the top 20.
Are you shading your defenders to play WRs on the inside/outside depending on what you think the route is? Tried applying pressure on recievers to let pressure mount on QB? Theres a lot more individual and team audible options on defense this year.
