Sony ending PSN support for PSP on September 15th

this seems odd. Haven't they just started adding old PSP games recently? (and not marking them as vita compatible)

I don't really understand the OP - they're shutting down the portion of PSN which you access from a PSP? So will PSP games still be purchasable and downloadable on my Vita, or are they removing the PSP library from PSN altogether?

EDIT - right, I think I see: the PSP portion is being removed from everything bar the web store, and you can still access past purchases through the download list?

People should stop referencing data that makes me feel uncomfortable because games get ported to platforms I don't like
Better buy those games you want FAST.
You can still buy the games->download them to a PS3-> Connect PSP to PS3 via USB cable-> Copy games to PSP. The only actual support that's ending here is connecting to the PSN Store through the PSP,killing any PSP Multiplayer access if any are left (Such as Killzone Liberation and Phantasy Star Portable 2) and maybe killing support for the Media Go Application on PC but Ad-Hoc Party on PS3 should still work.

Neither - you won't be able to purchase PSP games on your PSP. You can still buy PSP games on the web store or on the Vita; you can still download them (via the download list) to both the PSP and Vita.

Digital future, something something.

Can I still buy PSP games on the web store, though?

Absolutely right. Now what are the odds of me playing a 10+ year old game on an old console? Not very high.

Makes a strong argument for buying physical whenever possible.

It would be cool if someone could update the OP.

Nowhere in the email does it say that PSN support for PSP is dropped. The ONLY THING that changes is that you can't access the PSP/PSN Store anymore. You can even still access your download list and download stuff.

Please don't spread any more misinformation.

Wait they are closing off the PSP from being able to download games already bought and such? Are they gonna plan to do this someday to the Vita and PS3 also? I'm buying all my stuff digital recently I hope that closing off a system from PSN like this isn't in the plans for PS3 and Vita please.

EDIT: Says we can still access the download list, maybe not so bad.

ARGH! I have a PSP Go and the only download game I have is Crash Bandicoot 1, I think. Does this mean I should buy everything I want ASAP? I want to get:

Crash Bandicoot 2 + 3
Crash Team Racing
Fighting Force 1 (and 2 if they have it)
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Burnout games

Thanks.

This is the message you get on the PSP store homepage right now:

Holy crap people chill out. You can still connect your psp to your PC and copy your games over just like a usb drive. You can still connect to a ps3 and copy your games from there. The psp games will still be on the store.

NOTHING IS CHANGING except you need an intermediary to download psp games from psn onto your psp

Their digital game prices sucked anyways. This is the biggest struggle with the system. Discs are loud and slow, digital copies cost too much.

The thing being removed here seems to be PS Store access directly through PSP. The PS Store support on PSP is awful anyway, you can only download and install one item at a time like the PS3 firmwares of old. Good riddance.

Transferring stuff from PS3 or PC was always the better way to go.

It says you can still buy things through the SEN webstore and download them directly to the PSP through the download list.

Seems more legit now, found the same thing in french

op please update with this post.

Sucks but no biggie. Will use the PS3 to download them and transfer them to my Go, in case of new purchases. Old purchases, just the download list as it continues to work.

Jeanne D'arc is one example.

I have Jeanne on my Vita. I transferred from PS3, but it definitely works. I also recall some recent news about it being made available from the Vita store directly.

I'm in NA, btw. Sometimes that matters.

Wonderful digital future.

Does this mean you can't buy digital PSP games anymore? I was planning on getting a PSP soon too...

So after 15 sep. I won't be able to purchase PSP digital games?

IT IS JUST THE STORE ACCESS FROM PSP, YOU CAN STILL BUY/DOWNLOAD FROM WEBSTORE. Read the thread people.

Just checked this on my Vita. Yeah, it's not there anymore.

Uh...

HOLY SHIT! ZHP is actually completely removed from the webstore too. When I dig through my download list online, it brings up a blank page (even Brave story, a game that has been off the store since six months before the vita release still has a page on the webstore). Now the download list location still says that I can download it directly to my vita, but for how long!?!

i think i saw this pop up the other day on another site as the newest exploit psp game so that might be why
Just checked for news about this and you're right about that it being the newest exploit game.

It seems ZHP was removed from the store about a month ago as it was found that you could use it to run VHBL on the Vita.

So this means that if they eventually do the same for the PS3, I won't be able to play games I downloaded on it?
