That shit is annoying too, but at least it won't interrupt your combat with this fucking asshole jumping over you.

Imagine a very hard hunt, you're about to die but so is the enemy, so you decide to go in and deliver the final blow.

Then Prompto comes running and bumps into you and the cool ass animation plays and you die

THANK YOU FOR PLAYING

I would imagine you trigger it yourself, but if they bump into you they will do a quick vault to stay out of your way entirely.

Some of the mechanics look very solid, though.

Like here, you see that Noctis has to stun the enemy with his sword so that Gladiolus can KO him pretty easily. Party mechanics like this would be great since there's nothing canned about this sequence.

it seems only your attacks show damage number, weird :|

Could you imagine Prompto doing a cartwheel over Noctis' dead body? HAHAHA.

Oh I get ya. I was too focused on how you said "FF isn't meant to be" that the main point flew over my head :p

Oh yeah, I wasn't trying to mean that in such a close-minded way. I've heard way too much of that from old fans. Who knows though, they may tweak it faster. The animations are kind of clumsy and still seem like they need some work.

lol that would be something. I imagine one of them would scream "Fashion FAIL!" as they get decimated by the enemy.

That does not seem to be the case in the video. I also believe there are KH2 style of co-op fights where you go to your party member and you can do a flashy cinematic attack that is much more powerful.

You can really tell they're putting a lot of focus on Noctis and his party in terms on how they react to each and play off of each other. This will help develop the bond between them more so than just using cutscenes and dialogue and make it more significant when
they split up.

@Falk

Since FFXV has a pseudo Italian theme in some places, you guys should use Antonio Vivaldi music in some areas ;p one of the greatest.

Not the four seasons..one of his other compositions for uniqueness.

The combat could just be slow in the beginning much like in kh when you have the standard 3 peice combo a jump and a dodge. Then you get to like level 50 and you can glide and super jump and actually got combo's and stuff.

That was one of the main points of luminous, to have near indistinguishable character models to the CG ones.

It's not CG. There's clipping of her hair at the top of her head.

That gif just made me realize even her hairdo is matching the grecian gown & hairdo from here

This is probably what it's going to be like, Nomura said this: “Noctis’ level in the E3 2013 trailer is quite high, so he is able to use many weapons and warp freely. Players won’t be able to use all of those skills from the beginning of the game,” after the E3 trailer.

I am really curious about the engine. Are they using Luminous? Or their custom engine with Luminous tech?

Hopefully we learn a lot more about XV in coming interviews.

Getting huge Baz Luhrmann vibes with this game.

Nobody on this planet can convince me that Baz Luhrmann's adaption of Romeo and Juliette wasn't an inspiration for XV. When I saw this movie in class about six years ago, the first thing that came to my mind was Versus XIII. I'm pretty sure that there is Versus trailer out there that copies some the cinematographic style of the film.

Baz Luhrmann is actually Nomura's biggest film inspiration ;)

Holy crap man. I'VE ALWAYS FELT THE SAME WAY even with Gatsby. I just never said it since no one will know what I meant, but you do.

I totallly agree. Even the crystalline look that's in Romeo and Juliet and especially Gatsby. Everything is extravagant, dramatic, and crisp.

R&J in particular is a modern take on a Shakespearean tale. Luhrmann's films match up with XV so much that it's staggering. No one has brought this up.

While still on the topic of film, Nomura told us that he likes to leave work at work, so he tends not to play a whole lot of games at home. Instead, he consumes movies like a junky – 2 or 3 of them on most nights. His biggest cinematic inspiration is Baz Lurhman, the visionary Australian director behind Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge, and most recently The Great Gatsby. If Nomura is able to capture some of the magic of those movies and use it in Final Fantasy XV, we could be in for something special.

I'm telling you, it's crazy how much Luhrmann there is in this game. It's staggering.

I'm not saying it will be like that, just that I hope it won't.

I got to thinking, if what they said about being able to control any character in your party is true, then it would be cool if they went back to being able to have 2-player gameplay like the older Final Fantasies.
If the camera is really intense, that might be difficult though. But what these games usually do is pan the camera out. Also, two player online coop play? Pretty cool idea, although purists might hate it.

It was my understanding that the game is a custom build, but it uses a lot of the Luminous Lighting engine and other renderes.

They're using both Luminous (lightning etc) and their custom engine.

More info next week.
