It's not luck based at all. People who keep saying that need to spend some time learning about the systems in place.

Beyond grinding rep (faction, crucible, vanguard) it is luck based. The fact that engrams are randomly assigned a tier based on percentage values is....luck.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
The amount of salt in this thread.

My god.

You are the 5th person to make that joke in this thread.

It was funny the first time, now it's tedious.

but the joke doesn't get funny until the tenth time!

ychan, i love you, but it's safe to say you know a thing or two about dumping hours into milquetost games.

You can deck yourself out in full legendary without hoping for lucky drops. You stated in your post. Rep grinding.

And now, the Queen's Bounty event means you can get full Legendary even easier than that. There is ZERO need to rely on luck to get legendary gear in Destiny. You've done your research as you know you can use faction marks to buy it. So don't claim otherwise.

For such a high level character, he looks pretty boring and not all that different from how you look at the lower levels. I guess I just expected a bit more... awesomeness.

The ultimate irony of Destiny.

Maybe they should fix the WebGL version of the armor display so that people who don't realise it's broken don't think it looks terrible.

heh, i remember my first level 80 WoW character...13 days playtime, 312 hours.

I dont even want to consider how much time my brother spent becoming High Warlord or whatever in pvp to get the epic gear ( that was then quickly replaced maybe a month later ).

He woke up and played WOW, had me play for him when he couldn't if I could. Was probably 10 hours a day for atleast a month or more. Was nuts. Seeing that I knew I would never touch another MMO ever again except UO.

I doubt it would help. People love to hate on Destiny at this point.

Obviously you do not have to look far if you want an example of what in-game gear/player models look like.

Perhaps, but when we're told that this guy has amazing stuff and there's a link right to his profile, to be presented with that is a bit crap.

Heck, they could drop the 3D model if they can't render their own stuff and just do what FFXIV does and display a static image.

And most of you are making a fool of yourself for commenting on the webgl version of his armor.
There are plenty of people running around with the raid shader on and there is nothing impressive about it in-game, it actually looks really cheap. On titans especially you have to take a pretty close look to even tell it apart from the Beowulf shader.
If they could talk to him, people wouldn't be stopping to ask where he got this awesome gear, they'd be asking why does he look like a hobo at 30.

Just so you know, guys, the textures are missing from the Destiny website. I looked at my own character on there and thought there was some weird glitch, but that's just how it is. It will look way different in-game.

To be fair, he's also using the raid rewarded chatterwhite shader, which will make everything look white.

this quote is blowing my mind.

i mean...i don't disagree.

I was trying to point out how silly the WoW vs Destiny comparison was. WoW has to be content rich. It's a PC MMORPG with a sub, and it's very popular and old. It's almost like comparing a console version of Skyrim to the PC version that's fully modded.

Destiny is a MP FPS with loot and PVE features. It's not a full MMORPG, it just have a few zones where people can gather and see other random players, much like GTA5 with it's 16 or so player cap per lobby. From what I read it seems like Sunset Overdrive will have a similar setup with updates to content and settings.

Come on guys, on a loot/grind based game, 107 hours in 2 weeks is like child's play.

There is much much worse out there.

That is over 7hr 30 min everyday for 14 days straight. These are job type hours here.

Even when I was a teenager on summer vacation with no responsibilities did I ever come close to this.

...but everyone is different so be it.

This brings up my biggest issue with the game. Leveling up past 20 is luck based. I've got a lvl 24 Hunter that I've got at least 75 hours on, and I don't have a single Legendary (due to the tremendous cock-tease that is Destiny's loot drop system).

It's not though. If you get marks and level up faction reputation you can buy all the legendaries you want. I have FWC, Vanguard, and almost Crucible at level 2 and I don't even play that much. Legendary weapons are a big trickier but it's just more grind, not luck based. The only things that are TRULY random are Exotics, and you can still buy them from Xur on the weekends if you managed to scrape enough strange coins together. If your intention is to rely only on random drops, yeah, you are gonna have a bad time. But you don't have to!

Destiny threads are so fucking toxic around here. And most of you are making a fool of yourself for commenting on the webgl version of his armor.

Wow has been going on for how long now? Ten years. The games also do not compare, at all.

I'm probably feeling crazy, but if there's anything going on regarding moneyhats with Destiny, I imagine it to be Microsoft spending money to spread negative public awareness for this release.

I don't think you of all people can talk about others making a fool of themselves.

No low level has that white shader though. The cloak too.

Nah, new events launched today, and everything is refreshed so he may level new classes or stock up on materials and keep upgrading/searching for loot. You are a Diablo player, you know how it is. Efficiency, and there's also a great pvp mode.
lol "refreshed" that's the word they use to describe 2nd hand items that've been wiped down with windex
