Amazing Race Canada Season 2 |OT| This Time The Race Goes Outside Canada

Wow, Karma got them
Big time. Took them at least twice as long to do the Mentos thing, not sure why.

Natalie and Meaghan kicking ass, as usual. Can they keep it up to the end?

Sukhi and Jinder better stay in front of Rob and Ryan or they are gonna get bit.

Mickey and Pete flying under the radar and still did well considering how much the des/du mistake hurt them.

U-turns are still the worst thing about The Amazing Race. People either get stupidly salty about them or they end up eliminating the more interesting teams to watch.

This was easily the best leg of Amazing Race Canada since Team Body Break got eliminated in a shocker last season in Saskatchewan.

That Mentos roadblock was GENIUS. The absolute perfect roadblock to have following a U-Turn to force all of the teams to stand around and act pissy to each other on camera. I was half expecting Audrey to hang around and help Rob out just to further stick the dagger in Pierre & Michel's race.

How dominant have Natalie & Meaghan been?

Dave & Connor dominated last season's Amazing Race All-Stars (albeit with some favoritism from Production to keep Dave from doing challenges) and they only won their 6th leg at the finish line in Leg 12.

The Battaglia brothers - that other dominating hockey player team) from Amazing Race 22 - only won 5 legs in total. The first all-female team to win a North American Amazing Race season - Nat & Kat from Amazing Race 17 - only won 5 legs in total as well.

Rachel & Dave won 8 legs in total while competing in Amazing Race 20 - but they only had 4 first place finishes to their name at this point in their season.

This run is practically unprecedented for ANY kind of team. Let alone two women. They're even rootable which makes this dominant streak that much more fun to cheer on. I just worry that the hipster team nobody seems to worry about in Mickey & Pete will somehow bumble their way to the end.

Somehow I enjoy this a lot more than its US counterpart. Maybe it's just all dem Canadia feels.

Usually it's the opposite with these types of shows.

I definitely can't say I like it more - still not enough travel (Expenses and stuff I'm sure), but the challenges have been really entertaining so far and the Mentos one was great. I *DO* love the sense of humor the editors have for the Canadian version. Timing is really spot on with the stuff like the title card changing to "Engaged" or my favorite "I think we're in first place" DING (Currently in Last Place). They do a good job of making me laugh at how inept Sukhi and Jinder are every week.

Canada has been relatively easy compared to the other shows.

Australia vs NZ just did their "dig throw tons of animal awful then drag that disgusting shit for a few miles in order to feed some lions" task. The two woman team in that version of the show used their express pass to skip it.

It's pretty amazing how this one managed to up the last episode.

Kudos to the hockey girls for winning yet another leg even if it had a mini-equalizer in the train ride that brought them to equal footing with at least one other team. It's pretty interesting since they are pretty damn likable too as a team. They aren't boring or being shoved down our throats as this season's feel good story.

Lol, that U turn drama. Pretty much the usual U turn drama, though hopefully there will be less gradeschool ganging up on a team (then again, the siblings have basically alienated themselves with their constant asking for help). Also, first team on this race to speak in Frenish. Been a while since I seen that!

Cute for Alain and Audrey to suddenly become engaged. I like the producers are having fun with the relationship changes there.

Also, pretty great that Ryan and Rob managed to overcome two detours and a speedbump. Though they did get lucky that one of the twins just got stuck at the roadblock.

Hockey players can't shoot 5-hole, stunt performer can't do car stunts.

EDIT: Traffic in Montreal ? No way.

EDIT2: Love it. Hard detour challenges, crazy fast forward.

Disappointed this weak team keeps getting chances.

I liked the challenges this episode but did they edit out the last task? Seems like they didn't show a bunch of teams actually getting to the last checkpoint prior to the mat.and it's weird that the fast forward was used pretty much for only skipping the detour.

Side note, who runs a race in a thong?

It really seems like there was something to do at the Metro, but for some reason they just went there and then drove to the pitstop.

It's kinda interesting that this leg wasn't as interesting as the Australian's recent leg, lol

Bartenders got really lucky it was a non-elim, though the fast forward only skipping the detour seems pretty weak, even though the detours both seem pretty hard.

The fast forward was a pretty crappy fast forward though.

I thought it was a pretty genius fast forward. They were VERY lucky in how they decided to pose, because a lot of those would have been straight up traps for lots of couples. If you're not a dating/married couple almost every other relationship they have on TAR would've been awkward for nudity, and MOST of the poses would not have allowed them to avoid real contact/eyesight with each other in the nude like that one did. I mean, I'd go through with it cause amazing race but....that would be VERY discouraging for a lot of people.

Eh, it's a rather tame one compared to the freakouts that happen when the fast forward asks the contestants to shave their heads.

I sort of don't know if I want fast forward to be really hard or really easy at that point. And in the end, it didn't really matter since it was a non-elim anyway.

They handled it well, but this is definitely asking more of the average team than the shave head challenge is.

Nudity? I dunno. Family members would make it weird, but I expect that they didn't have any really risque poses anyway.
Heck, for the sake of TV, they probably had all the poses in a way that would be least embarrassing, especially for any women who would have tried the task.

Good thing Cormac and Nicole didn't get that far. Brother/sister had to have been super weird but mother/son might be the most awkward combo.

I think the thing is that there wasn't really much a team could do to get ahead of another team there at the fast forward. They couldn't strip any faster, get the artists to draw any faster. Barring yes, someone getting fickle at nudity freeze up or something, it was basically first in and first out, which made it a pretty lame fast forward.

If they shifted around the amount of clothes you were going to wear, then it could have been interesting. But considering you just took more off, by the time you were asked to pose nude, you been there long enough that you might as well go all the way by then.

The vast majority, including the shaved head one mentioned, ARE that way. The fact that they can make a situation that someone would legitimately consider leaving is cool.

As far as the poses not being bad...they were all right there, we could see them. Heck, imagine Sukhi and Jinder in the same pose the other guys had, with Jinder's junk right by Sukhi's face? That would be awkward as FUCK. And we saw that they were the ones that got to select it. Even just Jinder being behind Sukhi with the one they chose would've been a little bit more uncomfortable most likely.

And yeah, mom/son would be the worst. Like I said: basically any non-romantic team is going to have to consider what's going on with this Fast Forward. That is WAY more thought than goes into almost any other one there has been.

Love that tension is ramping up.

Hate that Rob and Ryan are still in this. Of course they were in the same flight after finishing like 3 hours late.

The Canadian season just feels so lame compared to the Australian season. The fact that the real villains were eliminated and we're stuck with the siblings is kind of terrible as well, since you have an evil team that was good at the game vs an incompetent team who happens to trip their way to the front.

Sukhi and Jinder better be careful pissing off Meaghan, could burn them. Especially since the girls would have destroyed them had Meaghan just said 'Tupper' instead of 'Tapper'.

Usually don't mind blatant product placement if the challenge is fun, but that DQ one was dreadful.

That flag challenge was hard, which is good. But it also sucked as a viewer because I had no idea what they were supposed to do and what they were doing wrong. Holy shit the girls were lucky. Karma I guess.

Roadblock was boring, especially since no one had any fear of height.

Probably the worst leg of the season.

And CTV reminded me Amazing Race US is on Friday this fall. Huh.

If Natalie and Meghan don't win it's a damn travesty.

And I wish I had a closer DQ :( Blizzard so good.

Also...am I alone in thinking Natalie looks like Sara Stone (porn star, don't judge me) every freaking time I see her?

lol, Dairy Queen blatant product placement

Kinda interesting that the siblings probably got eliminated due to running a traffic light and getting frazzled for losing their lead

I'm ok with the final three I guess.

This season is being done no favours by having to compete with the Australian season right now. It's just so dull.

Rather underwhelming final leg. The two road block were mediocre.

Best team of the season wasn't the best today. Kinda crazy they lost the lead during the water ratfing part (tailored for the two surfers) and could never came back.

At least Rob and Ryan didn't win.

I don't know why they suddenly moved the show from Tuesday to Sunday for the finale. If I didn't hear the hockey girls interview on the TSN radio here, I would have missed it.

Anyways, I can't help but feel that the two guys are gonna blow all that money on stupid things...

I was happy the finale was close though, it looked like the girls were really close behind.

I hope they go to more international locations next season.

Natalie looks hot in the after the race show :p

Fall season is starting. Namely Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 and Person of Interest start Tuesday on CTV.

Yeah I figured the reason was either some live award show or a season premiere for a show.

They should have just aired it a week earlier so that they could end on a Tuesday. The only tie-in might be to set up TAR America, which I think is on Sundays again?

Oh well, we still have one or two more episodes of Australia. Watch that one guys, it's infinitely better than this season of Canada.

IMO, not really. I even think you're alone in that sentiment. Almost everyone I know of who is watching both actually thinks TAR Canada 2 is better, myself included. The teams have just delivered this season and we have had some of the most memorable tasks/legs this season (Mentos roadblock--actually the entire Paris leg was perfect, the Biathlon challenge in Yukon, the whole two legs in China, the Tufino leg was also awesome). The horrible thing about Canada 2 was just the boot order. We lost teams like Nicole/Cormac, Rex/Bob, Alain/Audrey and even Sukhi/Jinder with Ryan/Rob staying so far in the race, and the relative mediocrity of the last few legs compared to the rest of the season.

Australia also suffered the same horrible boot order. We lost teams like Emily/Jono, the Kiwi girls, Elizabeth/Todd, and Carla/Hereni to Ashleigh/Jarrod and the boys (who I actually despise), but I don't remember anything memorable from its legs aside from the lion feeding task and John/Murray engaging in psychological warfare. The only thing Australia had it going for this season was international travel, but I thought the leg designs were forgettable compared to Canada 2.

Actually, I was kinda hyped to watch Australia more than Canada, but Canada was just much more exciting overall because of the leg design plus the teams. The horrible boot order just killed it.

I haven't watched the finale, but I actually am sad about the Hockey Girls not winning, I was actually rooting for them.

Well, that makes absolutely no sense then. lol

We only have one more episode left of Australia and that isn't until September 25th.

They are trying to burn off that series as well. lol

I was pulling for Natalie and Megan, but I'm happy for
Mickey and Pete.
They ran the race fairly, seem like good guys and deserved it.

Natalie was the show's eye candy

EDIT: I'm just happy that Sukhi and Jinder didn't win. Fuck, they were annoying.

Really solid final leg of the race with the traditional memory challenge at the end to stump everyone.
Where was THAT last season Amazing Race US, hmmm?
Phil Keoghan continues to be awesome but the American edition has some work to do to get back in my good graces.

Natalie & Meaghan are locks for Amazing Race Canada All-Stars when it happens.

Yeah I liked the memory challenge here. I have hated when we haven't gotten a HARD memory based challenge over the last few years. I feel like even the last time they did it it was really easy. To me, the last leg of the amazing race should be almost defined by shit like Luke throwing a tantrum because he can't figure the shit out.

I agree with most here that Amazing Race Canada was better than Australia and the last US Amazing Race. I'm happy with the outcome just because the boys never won anything until the end, but would have also been ok with the girls winning (even if they already dominated throughout the season and got some nice prizes already).

I was really turned off from Amazing Race US last season as I felt they changed the rules to make the father son team win. It has always been each member must do an equal number of tasks, but I think the son did 3 more than his father last race and they gave some bullshit answer for it in the end. That plus the change to Fridays means I'm giving this season a pass.
