Massive eShop Sale in Celebration of Super Smash Bros 3DS

Just like I did with 3D Land, I went on eBay and bought myself a physical copy of Starfox for less than the sale price. Hopefully this will come with a working CN points card as well.

What I've run into with niche Japanese games vs. mainstream games (for example) is that it isn't just that "a game is a game," but each game is unique content that appeals to different people, and the price for certain kinds of content (for instance, Rune Factory 4 sells for $39.99 still a year later, but Killzone Shadowfall is $29.99) is based on the market and demand for that kind of content, and the competition among people creating that content for people who want that content. So I gladly paid $39.99 for Rune Factory because it's content that not many others are creating, and I wouldn't begrudingly go "but Killzone is cheaper" because I know that the game that each developer created is unlike the other, and if I wanted more Rune Factory-ish games, well, not many people are making that kind of content, so they've got me by the balls :p So the pricing for one type of content is totally different from the other. Likewise, the value of a game such as Star Fox, to the people who are willing to buy it, is not dependant on the value of Animal Crossing, because the content is totally different and appeals to different people.

That makes some sense but again, any pricing strategy also takes into account demand, and im sure there is literally no demand for this title, its almost as if they dont want to sell it.

I really don't understand how did they convert Dollars to Mexican pesos:
Pikmin 3: 40USD ---> 700MXN
DKC:TF: 30USD ---> 650MXN
Was hoping to get Tropical Freeze for about 500MXN, I guess I'll keep waiting for now

I see that point of view also. A good sale could get not only people who held off on a game, but could create interest among people who would be more hesitant to try it, which would be benificial to the series in the future.

Donkey Kong is ELEVEN GIGS!?

How? Why? I may need to rethink this.

Yeah that is pretty ridiculous. I had no idea. Must be cut scenes. Nintendo has been great releasing games at small file sizes so yeah. I don't even have that much space left on my console and I don't really want to get an HDD.

You expected 3D land to be cheaper then $20? That price was actually good, I expected star fox 64 3DS to be that price, would have bought it too

I'm sure a lot of it is the huge amount of uncompressed audio in the game, which is well worth it considering how incredible the soundtrack is.

Bet they're going by Mexican retailers' prices, which are around 1000MXN for both of those games.

Fuck $30 for Donkey Kong seems to good to pass up. I think I may skip Smash next week and just pick up Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, and Hyrule Warriors.

Tropical Freeze for $30?! I have less than 3 GB on my Wii U... God damn it Nintendo, why did you put only a 32 GB hard drive in it!? ;___; I don't even know if I can buy an external drive at the moment...

Move some things to a random pendrive you have on your house

How's Star Fox 3D, honestly?

I loved the N64 one and still have it. Is it worth it to double dip?

Starfox 64 has a special place in my heart, the 3ds remake is quiet good and I've been resisting buying it, 30$ is just too much for a game that can be 100% completed in a few hours.

Still, those few hours are quality fun hours.

I'm torn between Star Fox, AC NL (Even though I already own it physically) and Tropical Freeze, I have $85 in eShop credit right now but only have $45 available since the other $40 are exclusively for the Smash midnight release. I expected Star Fox and ACNL to be $25 and $20 respectively. At least I got one right :(

Played through two levels of the Pac-Man game for Wii U. I enjoyed it. Totally worth 12 bucks. I like the transformations. Hopefully the second game fixes the issues.

Edit: Hope I helped people deciding. Decided against DKCR.

Animal Crossing is the kind of game I advocate getting digitally. You never have to worry about if the cart is in your system so you can boot it up and do your chores for a few minutes, it's just always available

Probably because Star Fox 3D isn't being sold at retail anymore so they can price gouge. Same reason Ocarina of Time 3D didn't go on sale.

Oh wow? Is that true? If so, I'm gonna have to get it then, it prob. will never get any cheaper than that.

I had some issues with the zooming in DKCR3D. In some parts they zoom way out and you can barely see anything even on the XL's screen.

Not sure if the inconsistent frame rate contributed to my general platforming ineptness but I found it pretty tough at times.

Tropical Freeze and Pikman 3 are a steal at those prices... Bought both at launch, no regrets.

I just saw the notification upon turning on the gamepad(very neat feature) and immediately jumped on it. DK:Tropical Freeze is downloading as I post this message(via Wii U's gamepad, no less). Already got Pikmin 3 a while back with that Mario Kart 8 deal, and DK:TF had long been on my watch-list!

Seconded. That and Smash are going to be the only 3DS titles I buy digitally.

For those of you who are on the fence, Star Fox 64 3D is a much better remake than DKCR. The framerate drop is noticeable and makes some of the more difficult levels borderline unplayable.

I was on the fence for DK but I decided to go for it, only to find out that I don't have enough space.

Because I bought Pac-Man Ghostly Adventures first.

Worth it.

I guess now is a good a time as any to look into external HDD's though.
