Dayum I'll 100% be using that bad boy due to it being an obvious homage to RE4.
I'm gonna have to cancel my Alien Isolation pre-order for this but based on that trailer I'd say that's an easy decision to make.
So excited for this.
I'm now cautiously optimistic about both of those games.
I've been spoiled by RE4 wii's control - point and headshot. I don't know if the artifically hard aiming would be frustrating to go back to. The demo I played didn't have enough combat to judge.
Speaking of aiming, I'd love to know why they did this:
New game+ was confirmed
Don't play with my heart like this man lol.
Would make this game perfect goddamn!
If youre talking about the camera being so upfront, they may have an option to adjust the fov, just like in RE6.
I hope they do give us the option, but I doubt they will. How it was at E3 2014 was perfect. The FPS view bothers me. : (

I really hope. Personally, I like the E3 2013 f.o.v. As this is how I have my settings for RE6. The E3 2014 f.o.v. is quite nice too.
The final build not so much, I mean damn; might as well switch into first-person mode while aiming lol.
Hmm, yea I don't really dig that either. I would wonder if the camera was blocked, hence it zooming in further to avoid clipping through a wall or something, but it looks like exactly the same location as the E3 2014 pic. Also it really draws attention to the blurry graphics lol.
Hopefully modifiable!
I'm assuming the Eurogamer Expo tags is actually the old version?
Is there suppose to be special boxes or covers for this game?
.
Might be to compensate for the narrower window into the game space created by the aspect ratio. Maybe playtesters on smaller screens felt like everything was too small to aim at as intended. The easiest solution would be to zoom further on aim to get Sebastian out of the way of the camera.
Pretty sure the camera has different zoom in views depending on how tight the area Sebastian is aiming in.
Pretty sure your right on the money with this suggestion.
also gives you more of a claustrophobic effect-which I feel is fantastic
I don't think so. The 'E3 2014 Build' and 'Final' screenshots are taken from the same spot. And all the recent videos from TGS had the FPS camera every time the player aimed.
Speaking of aiming, I'd love to know why they did this:
In the demo, all three camera angles when aiming are used. I don't fully know what controls it, but it changes dynamically in the game depending when you pull it out, where, in what situation, I've had situation where I pull out my gun and the camera barely zooms in at all, some in a very RE4 manner, and others basically in an almost FPS type of mode.

They have to be indeed. If they are successful they might just resurrect AAA horror games. You people better buy them both! I know I am!
i'm going in basically blank so I'm pretty hyped. i'm not watching this trailer but everyone's reactions sound swell
Interesting.
Quick aim, for reference (this is Casual mode so aim might be a lot more forgiving):
Student learned well.No breasts physics huh... Like Kamiya, clearly Mikami is a leg/ass man =p
It's the same build, it just took until now for idtech to load in the textures.Old build VS New build:
That's the second aiming mode, the which I call the free-roam aiming mode. Casual difficulty does have some aim assist I believe, as well as that eye icon to tell when you're spotted, and I also believe less randomization, and I know for a fact easier puzzles.
The free-roam aiming mode is faster to pull out your gun and you are given a lot more free movement when shooting, can lightly jog around, and good for situations you have to react fast in as Sebastian takes a bit longer to pull out his gun in regular aiming mode and it takes longer to aim at the enemy that's drastically getting too close or attacking at a distance. Free-Roam Aiming makes Sebastian pull it out and aim it down like a cowboy, but in my experience on the normal difficulty his aim is a lot worse with a lot more shaking and when you take shots especially on lower levels maybe that his shots would be a lot more far off the mark than it would be in the other aiming mode. Thus I would say its more something to use when you need to react to something quickly rather than a go-to aiming mode, but I am certain there are some elements that can be upgraded about it with green gel as other things, but I also am pretty certain with how it was designed that it wasn't a replacement for regular aiming.
Good read. Shinji Mikami is Japanese gaming legend.
I hope The Evil Within will be the Resident Evil, 2 or 4 of this generation. ;-)
Dude. The wii control made it easier than intended, sure. I could pop head shots left right and center with the wii. But they intended to make it hard, purposely made it hard, 'artifical' is exactly the right word to describe that.So you played the game with broken controls and now the intended design is "artificially hard"? Come on, son.
Speaking of aiming, I'd love to know why they did this:
It will be superior to those, at least in game mechanics, since there is a lot more options for the player in combat situations.

I'm so conflicted. This looks so awesome, but I'm unbelievably easily scared. I made it through Resi 4 pretty ok (I know it wasn't really scary) but I couldn't make it through PT without someone else in the room essentially telling me everything that was coming. I have never finished Amnesia.
I really wanna get this game but I don't want it to be another purchase I'm too scared to finish. Darn it.
