Ok you're right guys. The resolution of the Halo 2 campaign shouldn't prevent me from having a lot of fun with this amazing collection.

I'm just gonna skip the Halo 2 campaign.

I... really?

Are you sure you aren't trolling, you're not even going to try it? You never know, the game may look good regardless of the resolution...

You MUST be trolling right? I refuse to believe this is a genuine reply.

They said 1920x1080 @60fps for every fucking game in this collection.

I don't want this switch feature! I want real 1080p! I know how the game looked like 10 years ago.

Such a stupid decision. I want to cancel my preorder and boycott the shit out of this game, even-though I am a huge Halo fan.

Jesus... Gamers are crazy.

1328 x 1080: 1434240
900p: 1440000

So not even 900p.

Dat stigma of not having '1080' in your resolution calculation. Can't believe they're making such design choices to mitigate the perceived weakness of their hardware. Now they can say it's 'not quiiiiite' 1080p when in reality is not 'quiiiiite' 900p.

Thanks! Sadly you can't tell much but I bet it's going to look very nice. I just have the fear that those matte backgrounds will stick out a lot more now.

Okydoky!

Btw, the dual game rendering also reminded me recent test from Digital Foundry's i7 5960X review :)

Puts some things into perspective about this generation.

Indeed it does.

1100$ cpu can run two games worse then just one. Wow .

That completely misses the point. The perspective comes from knowing that this wasn't possible with the high end PCs around the same time the last generation of consoles were around. The complaints now about resolution and framerate are one thing, but as time goes on and if the consoles last as long, it will be an escalating issue

All that said, I really don't think everyone is going to care as time goes on other than some of the enthusiasts, and they will either tolerate it or move on to whatever other options exist that they like.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Am I wrong to assume that Halo 4 running at 1080p/60 will most definitely look better than a lot of PS4/XB1 games ?

I've never actually played Halo 4 :lol

How good is it? Shit, I don't think I even played Reach either. Just ODST

Halo 4 gets a lot of hate because of the shitty stuff they added on top of the MP. However the base gameplay is superb IMO and some of the best in the series. They nailed the feeling of controlling your Spartan.

The campaign is fun, however the story can be quite dense if you haven't read up on some of the Halo lore. However it's pretty simple to understand without it, just one particular cutscene will make no sense at all.

It is really crazy that almost every threads on the web about the next gen consoles turn into a resolution debate now, I understand the disappointment when a game is going to be 900p or less (720p) on Xbox One or PS4 of course but common if they are great games and have a lot of other features it is more than ok for me and this sadly lower the resolution will be always more and more this it’s inevitable.

Common the power of thesenext gen is around a middle PC of last year already, to gain power and have better graphics, lower the resolution is the best solution for devs and still 900p is a very good compromise in my opinion, it is a lot better than 720p and in the worst case 720p is still "ok" even if for sure very disappointing.

In the case of Halo 2 well I prefer this resolution to have the instant switch back with the audio personally that is a very unique experience for a game, I think it worth it and all the rest of the collection specially the MP are 1080p 60fps so no pb with me after why not add an option too later yes to choose the resolution but after the debate will still continue and add options like that Saber will have to check that all the H2 campaign in 1080p work good etc.. This is money and time that probably they do not have.

I expect Halo 5 to be 900p also, 1080p is really not for this gen once again (or very few exceptions) and I am fine with it, you should deal with it for this gen especially on X1.

Some of the reactions here are pretty lame, boycotting the game or the part of the game because it isn't 1080p.

like it's a massive difference, those with a keen eye for this might be able to see it... to completely dismiss a game for this reason tells me you were never serious about playing it in the first place.

That video reminded me just how awful Halo: CE Anniversary's updated art style is. What were they thinking, changing the color palette and piling on gobs of unsightly visual clutter? Terrible. So far Halo 2's new graphics look better.

Lol wow.

What did some gamers do before November 15th, 2013? Did you guys completely abandon all the previous gen consoles? I have XB1 and I still play my filthy sub-1080p 360 almost daily.

What next, you'll refuse to eat hot wings because they are 5 points less than their proposed amount on the scoville scale?

This is petty ass shit of all petty ass shit.

Resolution talk aside, the IGN preview footage is seriously impressive. 60fps Halo is going to look glorious on my TV.

Stupid question warning: With TMCC, can I play the actual Halo 1 multiplayer component over Xbox Live now or is it still running in a separate engine like Halo Anniversary's was?

It's the actual Halo 1 multiplayer engine, presumably the Halo PC one.

Graphics are amazing (especially for the time and hardware it was originally designed for) but the gameplay can suffer in spots, the campaign is a little of a snooze fest and weapon drops dissapear way too quickly meaning you may be without ammo in long firefights on legendary, also lot's of invisible walls around the maps.

Playing it in 1080 60 will be a real treat for halo fans, the IGN video alone made the game look real nice at 60fps.

I'm glad 343 decided to keep in a feature that can actually provide a gateway to 2004 and show just how advanced graphics have gotten, over getting rid of it to please the "1080p or die" people. I used that button a lot of time in Halo CEA, and will definitely use it in Halo 2A.

Really? I don't know man, it's like they're stealing your money for not gettin to 1080p and giving you a product that has worse graphics than 10 years ago.

Its funny how people freak out about the resolution. The multiplayer of KZ:SF didnt run in 1080p either and nobody noticed until the eurogamer article came out months later.

Very wrong. Everybody noticed the blurry image quality when comparing to sp.

Lol plenty of people have bought up the benefits of anamorphic scaling as opposed to regular scaling.

Also the difference between 1328*1080 and 1600*900 is literally 0.004%.

Frankie, I appreciate all of the hard work you all have put in to this labor of love project here, and cannot wait to play it on release!

I was curious though, how hard would it be to patch in the ability to have 1080p in H2A but no instant switch, and also, does it even make a noticeable difference?

Oh, and also why did you all choose the strange 1328x1080p resolution rather than what most other games use at 1600x900p? Does it look better, or is it for technical reasons?

It runs 2 game engines simultaneously. You can switch between the original Halo 2 engine and the Anniversary engine on the fly.

I don't understand why they did this. I took advantage of that feature maybe twice during the Halo CE Anniversary. Doesn't seem worth it to me.
