Official Call of Duty®: Advanced Warfare - A New Era of Multiplayer

Depending on the feel of it, I'm more interested in something like this now than I was a week ago. I finished my first level cap of Titanfall just a few days ago, and it ended up being one of my favorite multiplayer action games, bar none. That degree of mobility and vehicle integration is really satisfying layered over objective-based matches.

It's going to be glorious. Look so much fun. Can't wait to see how all the returning game modes play with the new movement.

I've heard that multiple times before.

Not from me I assure you :D Honestly this looks different than what I have come to expect from COD and it also looks very fun to play.

I'm in the same boat. I haven't been really interested in a Call of Duty game since MW2, but this one is very intriguing to me. It's looking quite interesting indeed, and the primary focus on the "current-gen" versions is also tempting me.

yeah. I wonder how well handled the single player campaign. Premise is a bit cliche but looks interesting enough.

I agree. I love that they have brought the pick 10 system from Blops2 and have expanded on it. The gameplay looks like CoD but with enough changes to make it feel new.

When aren't these stories cliche? At least in this one we have Kevin Spacey going all power mad on us. It will probably be 'ok' like the rest of them.

My only problem is which system do I go for? PS4 or X1?

I'm getting the game for both the Xbox One and PS4 but if i had to chose one, i'd go with the Xbox One version. The controller is god-like for shooters and online service is simply better. I preferred Ghost on Xbox One even though i only own the PS4 version. Tried it at my friend place and like the controller a lot more on Xbox, it's more precise and aims faster imo. Unless resolution is very very important for you because Xbox One is 900p and PS4 is 1080p.

Treyarch's CoD will be based on Reznov's
escape from Vorkuta, after his "death"

rumour?

but anyways this game looks fun, but I don't know if I'll be getting it. Going to devote most of my time to Halo: MCC, maybe I'll pick this up in the beginning of the new year (like what I did with Ghosts).

Of all the changes that could benefit Call of Duty, I don't feel like "make it faster" is one of them. Hopefully there are still options for playstyles that don't include boosting all over the map and spamming SMGs.

I miss the MW2 days where you'd have crazy battles at the choke points but also slower, more cat-and-mouse style engagements throughout the maps - there were actual "situations" that required awareness as opposed to just all-out craziness all the time. I was also a fan of the asymmetric maps in MW2 as I thought they felt more interesting but I know I don't speak for everyone.

Still cautiously optimistic.

They need to make Kevin Spacey's face an unlockable for the character customization in the multiplayer. Then again, that's all anyone would use.

The word 'fresh" and the acronym "COD" should never be used in a sentence. It devalues whatever language it's written in.
If you replace COD with Mario your statement would make sense. In this case, its completely wrong.

This is the first CoD since 4 (and MW2) that I'm excited about and will probably get near release. Last Call of Duty I picked up was MW3 and wasn't happy with it.

So, obviously I won't buy their PR bullshit, but since EA refused to give me Titanfall on PS3, I might buy this one. Soemthing about double jump etc. is kinda appealing. Still prefer shooters were you don't die quickly though, eh... on the fence I guess. The only CoD I played besides 1, 2 & 4 - local multiplayer - was Black Ops. Played something like 120 hours or so, but overall the experience wasn't mind-blowing or anything. Decisions, decisions...

PS3-question: Are there first week-hickups to be expected. I remember somekind of serverproblems in previous entries?

Normally I would agree, but they have added some new gameplay elements, so it is indeed more fresh than the usual. With said changes, I think it looks quite fun and will be giving it a go. *shrugs*

Not sure either. Pre-ordered ps4 version but would prefer to have on the Xbone.
Their should be some in depth comparisons before launch. If the Xbone version holds 60 fps I'll switch.
I believe there was already an article stating the bone version holds at 60

How're the audiences for COD games on PC? I figured they would die off hard and fast.

Well I'd say you'll find significantly less people playing COD on PC than on either consoles. I feel like part of this though in the past was due to the games running like ass on every system because loloptimization, and the fact that competition is a lot more stiff on PC. It's the great effective battle between unlock treadmills and case 'n' crate gambling!

"Ghosts is such a better game"

"It's awesome, it's much better"

God damn it.

But yeah the closer we get to the launch of COD: AW the closer I get to getting the PS4 version over the PC version. I don't really have a problem just waiting a few days though and letting people pick apart the PC version before I buy it. If the game is good it'll find its way with the PC audience.

The gameplay almost looks like Halo and COD had a baby. Even though this really distinguishes itself with moves like the thrust dodge, etc. It looks like a blast.

I'm not a big CoD fan at all, but I am in need of an Xbox One for Halo MCC, Forza Horizon, Ori and Sunset, and I am a fan of the limited edition CoD controller/console. So I think I might get this. And perhaps try to sell the digital code unless they announce a cool horde mode.

will infected be in the playlists? i know zombies won't be but infected was in the other non treyarch call of duties

i loved playing infected , pls

The original Infinity Ward created CoD, which winds up in other hands. Re-emerges as Respawn only for those same other hands to imitate Titanfall.

I am pretty excited about the potential this game has. Can't wait to get my hands on it!

"Ghosts is such a better game"

"It's awesome, it's much better"

LOL

"10 out of 10 PERFECT LOVE IT"

ugh.

I will point out, the big difference between the two videos is the OP's was actually competitive, known CoD players, while that video was just a bunch of fans who had a camera shoved in their face after playing a few matches. So far, the reception from "known" people who have actually played it has been positive.

They brought the jump button back! Yay!

I don't really see what they are doing with this game; I do think its trying to launch the new 'franchise' but BLOPS is not really over yet. Feels like change because non-fans have complained for years and it'll just leave the loyal audience more disappointed.

From a big COD fan the series probably what, reached a peak with BLOPS 2 and has since had one terrible year with weird maps and now a massive change to how it plays.

It really doesn't feel like a new COD is out in two weeks and I'm just not convinced that freedom of movement is necessarily a positive thing in a competitive shooter - I don't see enough efforts to rebalance off the back of this change.

You do realize this is Sledgehammer, who is a third studio being added to the development cycle, right? BLOPS isn't "over," and it is pretty much known that Treyarch is working on BLOPS 3 for next year.

Your posts in this thread make you sound like a CoD troll...

I believe there was already an article stating the bone version holds at 60

Yep, as well as video to back it up

You'd buy a limited edition console for a game you don't even like ?

They so want to forget Ghosts ever happened. Everyone in that video emphasizing how fast the gameplay is, and how it "still feels like COD". Ghosts was such a piece of shit, it was slow and felt nothing like COD with those huge maps and bullshit squad leveling system. I traded it in after 10 days. I gave it a chance, I tried to like it but after about 10 hours I was completely over it. I usually put at least 200 hours into COD multiplayer.

I preordered this for PS4, I thought Ghosts was gonna kill this series, but this actually looks like a lot of fun.

I'm excited for this one, I'm glad I took a one-year break with Ghosts to make me ready for a new CoD.

My main question about the future of the series is whether or not superjumps and robo-soldiers are the new norm for all 3 development studios now. Imagine if next year we were suddenly back to the regular ol' Call of Duty shooting and world. It would feel pretty flaccid, if you ask me.

I'm excited to play Advanced Warfare, but I'm even more excited to see whatever comes out next year.

I couldn't have said it better myself. This is exactly my feeling going into this game.

Don't want to bother, but since I will get DA:I on Day One, it would be kinda annoying for me, if the servers are shit in the first two weeks :p Thanks for any replies!

Given that these people are paid to play COD to begin with, I don't think they'd ever say "Meh it kind of feels like something I've already played for thousands of hours already". With that said it does look better than Ghosts, but that isn't really saying much.

I haven't read much on this compared to previous releases but it does looks cool, my friends and I all stopped playing Ghosts MP pretty quickly compared to previous CoD's where we continued to play all year round, which then made us all jump to BF as our MP shooter for the year. I mean whether not the whole jet pack thing will actually make the game more fun or more frustrating will be interesting to see, but who knows.

Hopefully this is good fun, and I hope the other modes if there are any are enjoyable too, Infection and similar modes in previous games provided us with hours and hours of fun outside of typical game modes so I hope those are back for when we want a break. Have we had any news on those? or anything about whatever their 3rd mode is like Zombies or whatever that alien one in Ghosts was?

I'm interested in what Treyarch will do since they toyed with the future setting in BO2. This goes all the way, so will they want to go there as well? I really get the feeling that some people may end up getting their wish for a new WW2 CoD simply due to having three teams working on them. They aren't going to all go future, and the modern setting has been done quite a bit recently.

I do wish one one of these developers would actually go all out future, not this near future bandwagon they seem to have all jumped onto now. Where's my laser guns, or spaceships, battles across odd looking planets, moons or just take a page out of Battlefront and have it in space across ships with vehicles.

Yes. It's got a 1TB drive in it, comes with a great looking controller, and the console itself is a design that I like. Selling the game will recoup 50-55 dollars.
