There is one other thing I'm missing. The Catacombs boss tries to smash a closed gate open in the little cutscene when you first see him. This gate is all boarded up and seemingly not accessible. Behind the wooden planks you can see one of those lore scrolls though. Anyone figure out how to get there?

She seems to be full of shit though, as though what she has to show you would help you with the boss (who is extremely easy btw). I would just ignore her ass, kill the boss and meet her later. If you're trying to find the shortcut to her though, a door that was previously closed off (kind of off to the side on one of the upper levels of the areas east/west of the save crystal) is now open.

I've not had much problems with the bosses but this one kept killing me so went around. Is this close to the end?

questions about secrets and hidden shit!

-
in the very first room of the game there is a alcove above that leads to a locked door, how do you open that?

-
also in the tutorial area, when you break the wall and go to the spider area, there are 2 locked doors. 1 was open with a pressure plate, what about the second?

-
where is this lab the monk wants me to find again? down in the catacombs?

theres more shit but thats all I remember from my recent session :)

I have to admit the first boss caused me some trouble and killed me twice :/
Looks like I'm going to enjoying the exploring but be pissed off at the bosses!

Honestly, I wouldn't consider a boss killing me twice a big problem. That's really not bad. :D

Really not enjoying this game, it's not the combat which puts me off it's the sub par frame rate, the boring npc's and that the stage design is bog standard cookie cut.

You can have a huge boss battle within sight of two npc's yet they stand there and watch you fight to the death, say nothing about what happened and instead give you a boring talk about something like a side mission.

completely dumb, so boring and drab, no thought has gone into the npc's

I can't see myself playing this game much, i'll enjoy it for what I can and sell it on, bleh.

2 more locked doors, any idea?

-
on the planitarium, right before reaching the old man and the the king guy

- on the way to the
graveyard, there is a locked door that leads to a path down bellow, you can see monsters down there. there is one of those jumpy guys in front of the door, and a checkpoint nearby

Did anyone reply about if the loot changes in NG+? Are there any other notable changes? I'm about 80% decided on getting this game, that will push me over the edge as NG+ shenanigans are my favourite thing from the Souls games.

That boss does a lot of damage if it hits you, but its moves are so telegraphs and super easy to get attacks in because there are very long delays after it goes through an attack routine, or even the kick is super punishable.

Yes. Just go back there after you killed
Beast
. It actually broke free from there, which is why you fight it outside. Seems like a really random event though and the only way you would ever know about it is if you randomly went back to the arena later on.

I think I found a major quest bug, although I'm not really sure. Once you're somewhat near the end of the game, and you are supposed to find and kill
Annihilator
, you have the option to kill it, or let Yetka talk with it. I decided to let Yetka talk to it, it disappeared, the slash went through the quest objective as though I finished it, then it promptly reappeared saying I need to find and kill him. I never ran back to the Citadel yet, so maybe it's just a random/vague UI thing and I need to talk to Antanas and lie or something.

Also, were all the Human Skulls found in the Catacombs? Because it seems like I am still missing a few, and I have no idea where any more would be.

I can't remember the doors in the very first area. Unless you're talking about the pressure plate door that's in the Citadel (there are two of them) and they are connected to the first Warden room, but that's about halfway through the game. If there's something literally at the very start of the game before shortcuts are opened, I'm not sure what you mean.

As I said in an earlier post, the "Laboratory" is actually a room in the Southern Watchtower. It's the room that has the exit leading down with the wooden planks I think (it's a hallway) that takes you to the front door of the Catacombs that had required the key. The Monk is standing in that room.

Just circle strafe around him and then attack after he does any of his attacks that have a lot of recovery (which are most of them). When he does the
shield pound on the ground, just make sure you're far enough away so that you don't take damage from the initial shockwave, but then rush up on him so you don't take damage from the falling magic projectiles and whack him a few times.

If the fight goes on long enough to where he starts doing his long sword swipes that shoot out a magic arc after, just dodge twice and attack him.

The main thing is just stay close and circle strafe.

soooooooo, if you follow the
girl, you cant finght that boss with 2 swords I assume? and if you fight the boss you miss whatever she gives you
?

I hate when games do that if so

yay. what about vice versa? can i
kill him now and meet her later
?

They are completely unrelated. Just some random story shit that really doesn't matter. She basically just wants your help NOW instead of later is all.

LMAO. I actually didn't know you could ram the weak spots on walls until a bit later on in the game, so I totally missed that first section that's behind where you get the first key you need.

As far as those two doors you're talking about, I opened both. One was with the plate as you said, and I think the other was with a random key that one of the respawned, higher level enemies dropped right around either the area right before the first Warden room, or the area just right after. I keep getting keys to chests I never found locked yet, and also keys to areas I don't even know about...

After boss #3, am I supposed to go right into
the portal Kaslo opens for me? I noticed the big round door in the cemetery where I beat the Worshipper. I took a peek inside, doesn't seem to tough yet.

Just came across more bizarre bugs. Suddenly the flawless luck gem on my wrist gear disappeared. I only noticed because my character was suddenly heavier. Now I'm looking at my stats and I have 0 Luck. My character starts with 3 and I didn't respec or anything. This game is ridiculous.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the ring is somewhat bugged. I keep hearing that hum/whisper effect on top of some of the secret areas that I've already cleared before getting the ring.

i cant get to this miss placed lore audio ;(

Yep, I couldn't get that one either.

I just wanna say that prior to the game, everyone was complaining about how easy it looked. I was even one of those people.

Now, I dont see anyone saying its easy. In fact, im getting my fucking ass kicked alot.

And I played alottttttttttt of DeS, DkS, and DkS2

It is honestly significantly easier than any Souls game. Super fun don't get me wrong, but it isn't anywhere close to a Souls game for me in terms of difficulty. OK maybe it's about as hard as Dark 2 vanilla (Dark 2 DLC is way harder than LOTF).

Well, I'll say NG+ is a joke. You can still find empty bottles on top of what you already have. I'm running with 22 potions...

Just like I did with DkS1, I am going into the thing completely blind. No guides or anything. So its much harder than Im sure it would be if I looked things up. So that is definately adding to the difficulty.

Not saying its as hard as the Souls game, and I have no interest in comparing the two game honestly.

Just wanted to make that post for anyone who is reading some of these comments thinking its some "baby's first dark souls" game or something. Cause it is definitely not, especially if you go in blind.

Agreed, and there's nothing approaching the satisfaction of beating a Souls boss in this game.

The game is decently fun but it's a disappointment. Preponderance of tank enemies with tower shields which are just terrible to fight as DW or 2H, boring bosses both mechanically and in appearance, totally forgettable level and general world design, bad dialogue and voice acting, and on and on. I think it does literally everything worse than any of the Souls games, and in retrospect makes me appreciate Dark Souls 2 a bit more.

The experience system is probably its only novelty worth mentioning, and even that at some point becomes trivial. The game is easy enough that there are only so many attributes you need to bother with (I haven't even touched Vitality), and at some point leveling up will only make things that much easier. I'm sitting on something like 40k exp points and, since I have utterly no use for them, I wouldn't even care if I lost them all.

At the same time, it is a genuine and rare Souls clone (as opposed to "the Dark Souls of X"), and that goes some way to making things enjoyable enough for me to power through it.

Yea this game is harder than something like Skyrim or Dragon Age no question. I am playing blind too, I guess we all kinda are since the game is so new. One thing about LOTS is that as I level and find new weapons I just pop rage and burn bosses/enemies easy. If you level up in Dark Souls 2 for example the Fume Knight is like cool story bro I'm going to pack your shit in.

Just started playing this tonight, disc version on PS4. Decided to roll as a cleric with the brawler set of spells initially.
Made it up to the first boss and took him out on my first attempt, which I was pretty pleased with. He seemed like a nice introduction to the control scheme of general combat.

I'll get more time over the weekend to sink a few more hours into the game, but something that is already getting on my nerves is the constant accessing of the disc that seems to be happening.
My PS4 is just constantly accessing the disc for the whole time I am playing, and the whirring and clicking noises are doing my head in! They are louder than my tv at times!

For anyone else playing the disc version on PS4, are you getting this too? Am I going to have to suffer these awful noises for my entire playthrough? Say it ain't so... :(

well in souls the potions weren't really a problem either IMO. it gets tough when you get ganged on or if you drink your potions in bad positions.

so question, most of the rolls i've seen seem fairly slow. can you make it faster / does it change with other classes? also do enemies seem to react to / stagger from damage you deal?

Even the fastest roll is not quick enough to counter. It's the one thing that really bugs me about this game.

I'm starting to realize that even though I love this game I sort of suck at it. I can't get used to the hitboxes and it's JUST different enough from the souls games to throw me off

I'm absolutely loving this game. Just beat
Guardian
and now making my way to
Annihilator
. My weapon of choice is a 1h axe called
Reminder
and I'm rolling with 246dmg on it. I tried Demon Souls and Dark Souls, but they never grabbed me. I need to be able to pause a game. This game is scratching an itch I didn't even know I had. And god am I loving it.

Err, is the
Annihilator
not the
giant, chained up demon you release by hitting the three levers?
, because after interacting with it and Yetka, a slash was drawn through the quest objective to kill
Annihilator
and then it returned three seconds later and I'm lost.

Just came to talk about this. I STILL need that one last skull, and I just did a pretty damn thorough run of the catacombs with no luck. I just read that the skulls are found in the catacombs and the graveyard, but does anybody know if those are the only places? I feel like I found some in other areas, but I'm not sure...

Not sure if you can help with this, because it looks like I hit a game stopping glitch that the developers never actually prepared for anyone to do. When you're supposed to find and "kill" the
Annihilator
, I let Yetka talk to it instead. It disappeared (it's pretty fucking huge, so there's not many areas it could actually be at if it warped elsewhere) and never returned. I have literally run through all areas of the entire game again, including talking to Antanas in the planaterium to see if I could lie and say that I killed it somehow to summon the final boss. NOPE. So I ran all the way back to where the
Annihilator
was and it's still not there. Resetting the game does nothing. At first it said I had completed the quest (drew a slash through the objective) and then three seconds later the exact same objective popped back up.

That isn't the
Annihilator
, it's something else completely. After you pull the lever by him a bridge opens up to the
Annihilator
on the side that's opposite of the save crystal, near one of the locked doors I still can't figure out how to open.
There's also supposed to be a key that you can get right before his location that unlocks the door that lets you go into the lower graveyard area (door has a rogue/assassin type standing in front of the locked door) yet I've never found any key to that area anywhere.

I'm not sure what you are talking about here. Do you mean the locked door by the save crystal after the
commander
boss?

Edited my reply above, but you pretty much answered it. The lame vagueness of the quest text and dialogue in this game doesn't help at all. It actually drew a slash through my objective as though I just completed it, then reappeared.

Anyway, the door I'm talking about is in the Memorial area, right next to a save crystal. If you have the compass ring on, you can hear it humming over a ledge. There's a locked door that looks like it opens up to let you walk down the long stairs to the bottom of the graveyard. Someone said ithe key was right before the
Annihilator
, but since I didn't even get to him yet, I guess I am about to find the key.

Just came to talk about this. I STILL need that one last skull, and I just did a pretty damn thorough run of the catacombs with no luck. There's at least one in the "secret" area with all of the spiders and such that's behind the locked portcullis where you find the very first key in the game.
