Immense skepticism is important regarding this gaming stuff, though.

Oh, also, what made me learn about Firebug was the Earthbound Forever thread. Seems so simple to pass off the simplest of edits as genuine (though I actually wasn't trying to deceive with mine, but I was too subtle).

I think the part that really makes yours is the Engrish-y button text. MOVIE 12/11 UP is probably exactly what a legit movie button would actually say. :p

Here's what you do: turn your system clock forward to February 4th every day, go on the website and perpetually imagine that you're 24 hours away from the event.

My birthday is 12/11, so I got really, really excited for a full 1.5 seconds. Still, impressive edit Flux.

A P5 update sure would be a good birthday present... Enough to make one want to craft it into reality themselves, heh.

I can't believe the thread got knocked off of the first page in Community. I haven't had to scroll lower than the first half of the page to find this thread before in months, lol.

So....Persona Q progress report?

I'm on the third floor of the second dungeon, taking my sweet time primarily due to finals. They've got me like this:

As soon as finals are out of the way, though, I'll be on it like this:

I suppose. Of course, considering you're one of our biggest news-getters here it makes it hard to believe anything when you do that. :p

Persona Q is probably the only Persona game where I like the animated cutscenes.

Kinda hard to screw up Chernobyl babies. :V

Really? I kind of like them in all of the games, even though their quality is often not amazing. The most memorable ones for me are from P3FES.

If P5's match the quality of the trailer's scene, I'll probably be content with them.

One thing's for sure: I'll always post a source alongside any actual news I post here. Without it, "news" is just hearsay, akin to all those insiders who were hyping up the PSX to oblivion only for it to (unsurprisingly) fall flat for those who weren't wary of what they were saying.

Up to November in P3P. Still crazy to me a year later how fast this game's plot takes off after September 1st. Also how damn late in the game they expect you to be able to rank 10 Mitsuru and Aigis.

Was reading OP and noticed Scrafty&PK's P3 LP. What happened to it?

Massive technical failure. The Dropbox file containing our save became corrupted and we were unable to continue from where we left off, and neither of us had the free time to play through the game and make the exact same choices up to where we left off. We recorded some filler material to fill the gap while trying to restore the corrupted data, but then the computer that was rendering it crashed and we lost that too. It was basically a conga line of disaster.

Maybe we'll give it another try one of these days, though. Anything's possible.

I love how that same on Amazon is like $60 right now.

Always been kind of iffy about Blu-ray since it's dub only though.

Righstuf always has huge, huge sales during November/December.
It's usually not that price, as you can see the 1st collection being $45.

Think they'll bother dubbing Persona 4: The Golden Animation or Persona 3 The Movie? Wonder if it's worth it.

Atlus has had a new anime (series) announcement each year ever since P4's in 2011.

I can see the movies being dubbed in the foreseeable future. There would be demand for a complete boxset after all five are released, and it'd be easier to get all the actors together at that point anyhow.

I want to say "I don't think P4GA will be dubbed because it's such a poor quality animation" but stuff just as stupid as it has been dubbed before.... ><;

They're both licensed by Aniplex, so even if they do, it'll cost like $1000.

I'm rather unfamiliar with Blu-ray/DVD anime box prices but, man, how much would something like that cost? And a dub, at that. My first thought is something like $250+, min.

The first few movies will have dropped in price by that point, so yeah you're probably looking at $250-300.

I'm actually curious to see if Japan themselves gets a boxset like that. But of course it's a long ways off. We'll probably only be on the last two movies in 2016.

It would only cost that because of Aniplex.
If Sentai got it again, the entire thing'd be like $100 from places like Rightstuf.
Sadly, they did not...

You have to remember that Aniplex's releases are so quick because they're essentially Japanese imports. They have to price them similar to the Japanese releases, or they'd end up getting hit by reverse importation. The big drawback to Blu-Rays having US/JP sharing a region code. Sentai got around this by not having a Japanese audio track on the blu-rays for importation.

I imagine Aniplex of America has Right of First Offer anyhow regarding the license, seeing as their Japanese branch has essentially funded the movie series. :p

Their DVDs are super expensive as well.
It doesn't really have to do with reverse importation scares, as much as it is them targeting a specific niche, and that audience justifying their actions.

Oh it absolutely does have to do with reverse importation. There'd be no reason for Sentai to remove the audio track from the Blu-Ray (and keep it on the DVD) if there wasn't.

A bit out of nowhere since I watched until the 3rd dungeon, but the design of the various dungeons is really good. I wasn't playing, but I imagine that the 3rd dungeon could actually be kind of scary for some people, which for me is a bit unexpected considering the 'cute' look that many of the characters have.

Though I could just be a wimp and maybe it isn't scary for anybody else.

Persona Q reveals an earth-shattering truth about the P4 protagonist in a sidequest

(sidequest spoilers)

His uniform still has a price tag on it. He forgot to take it off.

It quite literally makes you re-evaluate all of Persona 4.

Same exact thing for the P3 protagonist. I laughed.

If nothing else, it makes him way more relatable.

A lot of the reverse-importation issues stems from Aniplex really being bone-headed and dumb by just gauging their consumers wallets in Japan, with these overpriced sets that have very little content in them, like the Fate/Zero's box sets with them being at over $300 when they came out with them with only just one half of the series. I know anime is a niche thing, but there practices are very scummy in my humble opinion.

Hell yeah P3 FES are my favourite ones as well. The anime art style is quite unique heck even in P4 it has that effect. Persona 5 doesn't have that anymore. It now looks like a high budget anime.

I don't like the anime cutscenes in any Persona game (outside of the ending scenes, I guess?), but Catherine's were great.

P4G's new anime scenes were the absolute fucking worst.

Don't get me wrong. I agree with you on that. What Aniplex does is stupid at best, and downright harmful in regards to making anime anything more than a mere niche. But I know why they do it. Other companies have lost a lot of money to reverse importation and digital piracy. By pricing it as a luxury item it basically ensures they make a profit, if nothing else.

Persona 2 (the original PS1 releases) had some decent cutscenes for their time, and I think the animated cutscenes in The Answer are actually pretty good. Unfortunately the ones in The Answer are harmed by being poorly compressed. :\

Are you talking about quality or content?

Because golden's cutscenes were probably the best quality the persona series has seen, regardless of whether or not you liked the content.

But Ive got to agree, Catherine's are the best ones in a p-studio game so far.

BUT WHY IS YUKARI'S HAIR SO LONG, SOPHIA? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM?

I'm not into action scenes, and that's all I remember from The Answer outside of the ending.

I wish I could ask the animators about that, actually. Too bad they all credited themselves under aliases, if they were even credited at all. :p

The ones in The Answer have a fairly decent budget however. They're not like the cheaply animated ones in regular P3. It's too bad you'll get some nasty compression and windowboxing if you watch them on a modern HDTV. Persona 3 has no widescreen mode. :(

I like the cutscenes in Persona kind of like I like the dorm rap in P3. I don't like it, but I kinda love it.
