Tekken 7 - Lucky Chloe revealed

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
King isn't weird persay, but I still can't think of another wrestling character who only makes animal sounds.

I call them "mask furries". Griffonmask/Tizoc has that though he doesn't speak "griffon". Leo also fits the bill.

That's exactly my issue. I can't stand customizations. And why would I want an uninspired addition to an updated game that may potentially replace other characters?

"The game's already ugly, so why not accept more?" No thanks.

This is smash bros character slot whining levels of nonsense.

She's a character in the game. They put her in. They spent time making this insipid TaokakaRin Expy instead of some other one. Its a done deal The world doesnt revolve around you for fucks sake.

What a horrible point. Xiao has always been a part of the story from her introduction, due to her connection with Jin. Jun is 'missing', so she doesn't even matter outside of her moveset at this point.

It stands to reason that Xiao gets a movie that shows her more T4 mature side, not Jun

Xiaoyu has accomplished practically nothing in the entirety of Tekken. Even in the movie she STARRED in, she accomplished practically nothing. I mean, isn't that amazing? She STARRED in a movie, and the movie's climax had NOTHING TO DO WITH HER. She sat there and watched the real main characters fight. When she's not trying to build amusement parks and time machines, she is dreaming about Jin (who, by the way, never dreams about her in any endings ever). Her "connection" to Jin is very one sided...much like Hwoarang's. Actually, Howarang has probably had more alone time with Jin in his endings than Ling. Ironically, the most Jin seemed to even notice her was in a Capcom game.

Yet, Jun is the one who doesn't matter? The person who gave birth to the most laughably overpowered human being on Earth, the star of the series? The only person in the series that Kazuya seems to care about? The only person in the series that Jin seems to care about? The person who beat up devil while pregnant, stopped Heihachi from getting killed, taught Jin several of the moves he uses...doesn't matter? Jun has only been in one canon game, and she's been more relevant than Xiaoyu has been in 4.

I don't know, it sounds more like the female character deserving of a 90 minute movie is Jun, not Xiaoyu. I mean, with Jun there are genuine questions that need answering. Meanwhile, we got an extended look at Xiaoyu, and got nothing out of it. "She really likes Jin." Okay. We already new that.

Nahhhh. I disagree there, guy.

Jin, Kazuya, Heihachi, were definitely not original. The half demon half human thing had been done to death prior. The hwoarang/jin rivalry reminds me of ken/ryu so much. Raven is not original. He looks like blade lmaoo.

I'll give you miguel. Nina williams is as generic as they come. Leo is... well leo. Christie is a clone. Lei is litterally jackie chan from super cop. They even said they based him off of that. Law.....

...... c'mon dawg. Law is you know who.

Every character almost seems like they were created in the image of someone else. Not saying that's bad, but they are def not original. Let them have an idol if they want.

When Tekken did the "fighting game copies," they were still cool as hell. That's the difference. Except Nina. Nina is the one I was never really interested in, though the Nina/Anna antics always amused me so I gave her a pass on that. And her Tekken 3 stage/look/music was rad. But everyone was the coolest motherfucker in history in that game.

According to God. I went to Him, and He seriously said, "Jin was one cool son of a bitch. And did you see Yoshimitsu? He got all Star Wars'd and shit, boy was that mondo awesome. Gin and Dr. Boskonovitch? You better believe I rock those gentlemen up here."

For realsies, yo. Realsies.

The more I think about this, in my mind, now funny controversy I would seriously laugh if Lucky Chloe ends up being a Lucky Star-esque Akira-chan "fake" idol and she always starts the fight with another personality without her jacket, smoking and saying: "Sigh... you're all annoying you know?" then she puts her jacket on, pulls her headphones up and becomes all moe! :D

That would be quite the trolling from Harada, everyone rages about her not giving her a chance before noticing there's another side of the character :p

You're exactly right. I don't really understand why this character is so upsetting to people in the context of Tekken. You have a bear, a panda, kangaroos, a robot, a cyborg, a fighting tree that copies other people's moves, a demon guy, and whatever the hell Yoshimitsu is. I think it's a bit of a stretch to say that Chloe doesn't fit the mold somehow.

I get being upset about the use of the scantily-clad female trope if it was done just to have a nearly naked woman in the game. But it's certainly not the only trope in the game.

They apparently don't count due to arbitrary reasons.

I'm not much of a fan of Yoshimitsu either- always felt he was a dirty cheater with his sword, and Alisa is one of my most hated characters of all-time.

I didn't even think of Akira from Lucky Star when looking at her but, yeah. Gonna imagine her with Pink hair now.

"Kuma, Panda, Roger, Roger Jr. and Alex were there when I was younger so it gets a pass. I am a mature person now who hates anything new that's overtly Japanese made after 2XXX in my Japanese 3D fighting game made by the Japanese made for first and foremost a Japanese audience."

Not saying this is everybody but, it is like that for a few people. They could just like animals and robots but not idols and stuff of the like though. I would say that I didn't like characters before in games but I eventually got over that and accepted that they were in the game. Dunno why that's hard for people but different strokes and all.

Japanese designed and her breasts aren't 40DD, she's automatically a loli / toddler

Earlier posts in this thread were hilarious, I tell you.

The overreaction is ridiculous, and Harada's trolling is marvelous. Would be fun if he actually ends up taking out the character of the US version and makes a shit dudebro instead.

As a fan, all I can ask for is that her character is as unique and as loved by the creators as the members of Tekken's roster always have been. I'm already a fan of the character, as the director of this historic franchise is so adamant about defending Lucky Chloe from criticism. (Which signals to me that she has been created with love.) Here's hoping the character ends up becoming a fan favorite.

Asking Harada to take the character out because it's not to your liking is whining.

Saying you don't like this character isn't but many, not all, have not acted in a mature manner... So whining is fitting for those.

I'll try not to place everyone underneath that description but there are some that were whining over it. Sorry.

I have no sympathy for anyone where this one character was enough for them to lose their Goddam minds or denounce the series... It just reeks of wanting to look cool by looking down on this weeb ass shit. I'm sure there are some who are legit put off by the design but I think most of those peeps are level-headed enough that it won't stop them from trying the game or if they won't play it, it is simply part of a long running list of reasons rather than THE reason.

I don't even care for the design that much... I just hate the weird insular nature that pops up in threads like this. This is a Japanese game, and I rather them continue to be that instead of trying to appeal to Western culture only... Especially Tekken.
A sseries that has one of the most diverse casts in anything. And yet every time a Japanese game dies something weird and well.... Japanese. There is so w kinda uproar on this board or some shitty manufactured controversy.

I'm just tired of it

I really don't think anyone would drop their favourite fighting game because of one shitty character design. Has anyone here said this? There's obviously more to it than that but this could be the last straw for some people. Tekken has always been resolutely Japanese but there has never been an uproar about a new character design until now. Could it be that the design is just that bad?

Suddenly one character gets announced and all his work goes down the drain and people are upset at him for being a big idolmaster fan.

He's been screwing up for a while. In fact I had to check whether he was the same person in charge of the older Tekkens, so drastic is the direction change.

Anyways, I actually watched the reveal video again and it's pretty hilarious. What a way to troll your fans. But sometimes trolling can go too far.

She is part of the kazama family isint she? She is just using the idol get up as a disguise thats like some sort of witness protection program deal. I would laugh my ass off. Her ending shows her taking off the blonde wig and destroying all the kazamas with a raging demon. GLORIOUS!

place your bets since there are only three possibilities

  • she's not a "she"
  • she's not a person at all
  • she's the long-lost (relative) of (current character)

I'm gonna say she's Angel's second cousin's robot clone

*male robot clone

I honestly dont think they would pull off a second trap character......unless if they wanted to be the first to have more then one in a fighting game and both of opposite genders.

Oh I didn't think of Akria either when I saw her the first time but I figured it would be a nice twist and maybe this is what Harada is hinting at, who knows :p And if the customization from TTT2 is back in we can have a pink Chloe :D

Also I generally agree with the rest of your post too and really don't get some reactions as I mentioned before. On the flipside I absolutely dislike rap culture with a passion however the Snoop Dogg stage and song in TTT2 were still perfectly fine with me as I know there are plenty of people that like these so why not.

I said it before, but I think Taokaka from Blazblue does the whole cutesy catgirl trope in a more interesting way. The shadowy jack-o-lantern face and long swinging arms add some more character to her design that someone like Lucky is missing.

It helps to add a twist of some kind when reusing a tired look.

I'm more talking about the weird characters, though Lei is an example of a weird one and is a good counterpoint.

Jack is another weird old character that I think shows more originality. He's the terminator, sure, but he's like some bizarre 90's-style Terminator that went full dumb muscle man. You see Jack, you immediately think Tekken.

King isn't weird persay, but I still can't think of another wrestling character who only makes animal sounds.

King is based on Tiger Mask, and Armor King is Black Tiger Mask 2 (Eddie Guerrero).

If only more people were as reasonable as us!

Not even the same. Bears are real, girls are not.

Lol

She's nowhere near what I like in fighting game characters, but people don't know what they're talking about when they say she's a badly designed character.
You guys need to learn the difference between a bad design and a design that's not to your liking. Not that difficult.
Harada shouldn't even bother defending her to the histrionic Twitter plebs.

Anyways, can't wait to break every single bone in her body with my girl Nina.
