So... my roommate was in my room playing some old DOS games on my PC, which is hooked up to my television. I had it already set it up for him so he just came in and started playing.

He gets done and closes it out, my dumb ass forgot to close out tumblr so the first thing he sees is a picture of Kuvira in a compromising position... oh my fucking god

Kuvira ushered him into manhood.

Haha oh boy.

Ha their loss if they forgot about two of the best episodes in Korra.
Beginnings was fun, great art style. I usually just like it for the Bumi, Tenzin and Kya dynamic and the Wan Shi Tong being an asshole that followed the other asshole in Unalaq and Furry Foot going all evil.

Really, aside from a lackluster B plot in Republic City (doesn't match the scope/urgency of the A plot, Asami and Bolin not believing Mako for weak reasons) Book 2 is pretty great. I don't know why everyone here has convinced themselves it's the bubonic plague.

Korra not seeing logic in anything till like after the halfway point does not help that season at all.

Failure to see logic was not Korra's problem. In fact, the shit Unalaq was feeding her in the beginning of Book 2 was very logical. She did need to learn spiritbending from him, she did need to open the portals and she did need to prevent a civil war. Her real problem was that her drive to fulfill her duty as the avatar and fix the situation was unbalancing her and making her push away from those she cares about.

And if that alone is enough to tank Book 2, I'd hate to hear how you all feel about Zuko doing the exact same thing to an even greater degree for the grand majority of ATLA.

Could you imagine if Korra had as great of a character arc as Zuko? With all those twists and turns... Korra could've been somebody.

But we all like Zuko. Zuko had to fall really far to realize how fucked up he made everything. At that moment in time Zuko didn't know what he wanted to do. He was living his whole life trying to appease his father, but in doing so he wasn't living the life that Zuko himself wanted to live. Korra's drive to "be the avatar" was the cause of a lot of wrong decisions that it took her a long time to figure out because she didn't really even know what it meant to be the avatar in the first place. She just likened it to giving her the right to kick someones ass, which is a mentality she head for almost 3 whole seasons. My biggest complaint with Korra isn't how she handled Unalaq, but with her other personal relationships. Unalaq knew exactly how to manipulate her and when either Tonraq or Tenzin tried to reign her in she just lashed out at them getting pissed over how they sheltered her. The other thing was the treatment of Mako. Character wrecking aside Mako was right not to take her side because in doing so he was risking his own life. Korra expected him to commit high treason when he already had his hands full trying to deal with the Varrick war profiteering case and he was already in hot water for that. Korra ran around with a "might makes right" attitude for that season with an irritating sense of entitlement. That kind of attitude makes for a shitty ass girlfriend in reality and she didn't even see how she was acting.

Book 2 is, simply put, generally regarded as the biggest misstep or biggest fuck up of the series. Personally, I would argue that Book 4 is the worst season, but that's just me.

I think Spirits is regarded as the worst for similar reasons that Season 4 of Angel is considered the worst, although again I could make an argument that S3 is, but that's neither here nor there. My personal interpretation is not the nonsensical (yet fucking epic) ending, but that it's the character arcs that generally put the characters into a bad light. Hell, the season makes Aang seem like a terrible father, even though he really wasn't. Even so, I've made the argument that a character being unlikable can only be a bad or good thing. It basically boils down to whether or not them being unlikable is a logical progression of their character arc or the result of a "manufactured conflict," as I (and probably a lot of others) call it. I personally think the arcs in Book 2 are in fact logical, and thus they don't bother me.

Although, it does upset me that, out of the big "sins" that Book 2 commits, all of them are addressed or resolved in some form or fashion (although whether they're done well or not is a different matter). Spiritbending is never explained and greatly upsets me that this is the case. Seriously. How the fuck does spiritbending work? I mean, I can say what I think, but I want to KNOW.

So, I've been watching Once Upon a Time, and boy does that show suffer from the exact same issue that Korra does: Too many fucking characters. I said goddamn. And that series has 22-episode seasons with each episode being at about 44 minutes, and it still has the same problem.

I don't know why I'm bringing this up. Just thought I would.

Book 2 ain't that bad. It does have a poor start where characters start regressing quite a bit(Poor Lin taking the brunt of it) and way too many storylines going on at once during certain episodes. But it improves a great deal after the Wan arc.
There are quite a few moments that I really like in the second half of Book 2 from the fantastic fight of Bolin protecting President Raiko, Bumi's accidental rescue and for as divisive as the finale is I still love that moment when Korra walks into the Tree of Time and this starts playing. Beautiful stuff and a damned shame Nick still hasn't released the OST for it yet.
Flawed as it was I still got a lot of enjoyment out of Book 2.

Worked on this tonight.

Not sure what to do with the text atm.

Great work.

Just watch Agent Carter.

I have been, and I'm really enjoying it. Also picked up the current comic starring her called Operation S.I.N. It's alright so far, although it's only had one issue. Not sure if it's a weekly or a monthly. I do hope for a monthly. They're usually better.

I loved those moments as well. I was practically cheering on Bolin during his shining moment.

Gah. I had to stop reading comics since they were a money sink. Don't regret it, though, and ComicGAF is a great community.

Ha I stopped watching around season 3 when it felt like the characters were just wandering around in that
Neverland set
every episode.
Should probably catch up though as i've heard good things about the recent
Frozen
arc.

Anyone here know anything about that Vixen show?
It's all in the Vixen thread, but yeah I know about it.

I've been getting back into comics. It is a money sink, but there are plenty of ways to reduce cost for yourself. Getting a pull-box, for example. And I always do love comic threads. Some of the shit that goes on in those is fucking radical.

Great work.
Book 2 goes for flash over substance and culminates in a big bombastic finale. I take no issue with that decision and I enjoyed the fuck out of it. Especially on my re-watch. That definitely shed a more positive light on it.

I'm only halfway through S2. The show definitely steps up it's fucking game, although I still have a problem with magic or more how it's handled. Still, I'm enjoying it. S1 hit a real low during the middle of it due to having about 4 episodes dedicated just to fucking romance arcs. I understand the importance, but it's so boring and so fucking fairy tale it hurts. That being said, I have heard S3 is quite boring, so your statement only supports my expectations.

It's apparently going to be only 6 episodes long as for Vixen no clue apart from vaguely remembering she was in Justice League Unlimited.
I just hoping first its good and it does well so we can get more animated DC shows like this back on the air.
I'll take what I can get. I need more animated DC to take the edge off after my JL+JLU+YJ binge.
