Makes it easier, sure but is not absolutely necessary to clear that content. If your WAR is almost out-DPSing your bard though, that's another problem entirely.

Well nothing we are gearing into now is necessary. Hell, most i130 gear is unnecessary. But with progression, people die, or their DPS is low due or healing is off to tunnel vision on mechanics, so extra DPS or VIT helps that progression.

A bit of an exaggeration, I think it was like 350 (maybe 370?) vs 290 but still, almost like having an extra DPS.

Gear won't provide much of a crutch if DPS is already low.

But it provides some. So if the thing you are working towards is clearing T13, why not spend that gil to help, even if just a little bit? If you are saving for something else like a house (or cards like Asami thinks gil will be used for soon)? Then spend it on that.

Those i110 accessories are going to be BiS for WAR OT until 3.0

I think it comes down to the "NEED" part of it. It's nice to have and can help push the fight. Just a case of whether you should feel pressured to getting it done above all else.

If you can buy a pony, you can buy a card.

Yup, agreed. Not needed. But most of this stuff isn't needed.

Well, I'll see what I can afford and get what I can. I'm just nervous since the sealant market is declining, and my ability to replenish funds will soon be blunted.

Granted, this soon even people with several jobs geared out will have trouble replenishing gil. As the expansion nears and all.

33 WoD runs no BRD chest. I've seen some of the worst players imaginable. I'd prefer the rest of the raids was constantly 23 bots.

Anyone have any intel on whether FATE farming for alex is feasible now with the new drop rate?

same as atma i think. got an alexandrite on a second fate at 2.5 launch. but been trying to get alexandrites from hunts for PLD but the kids going for ilvl130 is making it a pain in the rear. so i just do fates in the same area a mark is open.

It'd be funny if they just ignored the level cap for iLvl in the expansion and the first part of Alexander dropped (tokens for) i150 stuff.

I've gotten several alexandrite from FATE's as opposed to before where I got nothing.

i have gotten 25 Alexandrite since the patch. Drop rate is pretty good.

Oh cool. I'll bash out a few FATEs tomorrow and see what turns up. Honestly getting a bit sick of messing about with treasure maps.

I've found that hunt farming is still the quickest way to get alexandrite, but as mentioned before you can do fates while you're waiting for A ranks to show up. I'm doing that but I haven't received any alexandrite from probably 50 fates this week. :/ But I got 9 alex the other day when we downed 4 S ranks in a row and did some other hunt farming.

I hate treasure maps too, I'm a i117 SMN and have died to two maps so far, which is really frustrating.

You could always just ask in the FC for help for Alexandrite maps...

The actual fights I can just do with my choco, no problem. It's the deciphering, finding, travel, digging and then back to RT to collect another one since you can only carry two. It feels like a lot of admin and that's not even including obtaining the map in the first place. It would be better to do something that just rewards alex straight up, like hunts and FATES (I hope). I'll still keep doing maps though but hopefully FATEs can speed things up. It would be great if I could stockpile the maps and then just work through, like, ten of them in one go.

Yeah you can caught out sometimes. I died to one or two in the beginning and it's a horrible feeling :-(. Gets easier as you know what to expect but I still wouldn't take winning for granted with some of them, especially being a squishy black mage.

I started doing dungeons a bit, and I was wondering if this is the proper rotation to keep aggro on the monsters. If there is only one, I use savage strike, and simply perform a two button rotation. If there are multiple targets, I use flash about two times, and then apply savage strike to each enemy. I am not sure if that's the proper way to tank, and I am level seventeen atm.

In addition to what I wrote above, I am not sure where to spend my attribute points. I have been putting them in vitality, and I plan to become a Paladin at level thirty.

When you say you use Savage Blade, you do mean the full combo right? IE Fast Blade > Savage Blade > repeat? Some new players don't and just spam Savage (or later Rage of Halone) so I just wanted to be sure. If you do then yeah that's right. There are threat bars in the party list for your targeted monster, that will help tell you if you need to rotate more combo'd threat single target moves on targets. (Or flash I guess if all of them are close to being lost). If you are having difficulty keeping aggro despite doing all of this while leveling, I would not worry unless it was a single target fight. Some dps leveling already got their cross class skills and can be a major pain, especially if they are all attacking different targets.

Vit is fine and usually the norm for level 50, but if you want some easier time soloing you can go Str until you hit 50. It's cheap to respec the points, and you won't really miss the hp while leveling.

Alright, thanks. I did mean fast blade, and then savage strike. I have been using the enemy list to see the threat levels of the monsters. The reason why I have been using flash is because a lot of people in the dungeons don't target the monster that I fighting so, the best method that I have found is to just spam flash, and then build it up MP by using the ability that gives MP back after each use.

Suffering From Success
I got the boots and the hands which anybody can roll on but I can't outroll people on the actual DoM stuff. The struggle. Speaking of struggles, getting into the first Coil, even T4, is now next to impossible. I want that Allagan set back, dammit.
Yoshi please put Triple Triad cards in Coil.
