I still can't get that POS app to synchronize again. Reinstalled it multiple times on both my phone and iPad and it still doesn't want to sync with Uplay. Fuck this fucking shit.. I spent so much time in that goddamn pile of junk and now I can't do jack shit with it anymore :(

So I finished both the main game and Dead Kings the other day. Am I right in my thinking that the only thing that moves the present-day storyline forward in a meaningful way is
the Assassin Intel you pick up from the Rifts that talk about Juno and her "Others"?
If so, I'm pretty disappointed, since I generally really enjoy the present-day conflict. Just wish they would refocus on it.....

I think my plan for this weekend is to collect the rest of the co-op sync points so I can unlock the last two skills I'm missing, then power through Dead Kings and get all the achievements in that too. If I can do that, AC Unity will be the first XB1 game I've fully "completed".

Once I do that, then, and only then, can I go back to Sunset Overdrive with a clear conscience. Lord knows I haven't missed SO... Never have I played a game that has so much personality yet is a fucking bore to play. ACU was like a vacation!

Damn, I bought SO on sale and haven't gotten around to playing it yet, was trying to finish some of my other "open world" games like Unity and Shadow of Mordor first. That's disappointing to hear, what's boring about it? The previews looked great

I just hate the expectation to climb, jump, hop and grind like you're playing Tony Hawk while trying to aim precise weapons at generally agile, aggressive enemies. Add in the forced tower defense segments and it's done more to turn me off than entertain me. It's not fundamentally "bad". It has its moments, looks nice, has decent production and all that. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

Conversely, I couldn't put ACU down. I've logged 85+ hours in it and actually want to see it through to 100% completion. I'm glad I ignored the reviews and how much I disliked 3.

Got the game for cheap. I've been enjoying it a fair bit (though the combat is meh now), but really, as much as I like Arno, Élise is a better character imo and I wish she was the protagonist instead.

I love the changes they made to the parkour system. I'm like 5 hours in and I'm still having fun trying to traverse things as efficiently as possible. The parkour animations look kind of awkward compared to the past games, though.

I like climbing down stuff a lot more than scaling them, but sometimes it feels really janky.

Also, I keep getting my ass whooped by guards, especially when there are heavies involved. I miss being able to blast suckas away like in Black Flag.

Does anyone know how long the game takes to download on Xbox One via code? I've been waiting for at least an hour and it's only at 12%.

I finished the Dead Kings DLC last night and I can't help but feel disappointed. It could have definitely been done better. First off, the story. We were promised "the darkest story to be told in the franchise" and by the end it was literally sunshine and rainbows. The only "dark" aspect of the story was the setting.

Secondly, I think it's way too soon for the DLC to release. They most likely finished it before game released, and decided to charge us for it anyway instead of putting it inside the final product. I'm glad it ended up free.

There is a small twist at the end but it's only a tease. As a long time AC fan I thought it was cool.

In the end, it was an average DLC, but since it's free, it doesn't hurt to give it a try.

Does the Dead Kings DLC autostart? I'm making my way through the game again and wanted to keep it for after I finished the main storyline, and suddenly when I finished a sequence the game took me to Franciade. Even worse, it won't allow me to quit the memory and just go back to Paris.

So I decide to just play the first memory and get it over with. "Stay undetected". I do as it tells me, make my way to the hole in the church, press the Parkour Down button... And Arno instead jumps over the hole and bumps into the two guards.

You can't make this shit up.

EDIT: Also, I had a five player level rating before, and now I'm back in Paris and it's been reduced to four. I haven't changed my equipment. How does that happen?

For the love of God, can someone explain to me (or link something) how the M8S2 Rouille Assassination is supposed to unravel ?

The way I understood it is that accomplishing side objectives during these big assassination missions unlocks a special way to do it, much like the confessional kill at Notre Dame.

But in this case.... torching the snipers does nothing except killing said snipers which I could have done in a more regular way. Freeing the soliders does nothing at all. Actually it does : there is a quest marker INSIDE the goddamn building when the main mission is really happening outside.

What I mean is the mission is way too straightforward and the side objectives seem more like distractions than of actual service.

Am I doing something wrong ?

Speaking of Rouille, how did Arno suddenly learn of that guy? Did I miss something? He storms into the palace and Arno recognizes him, but I have no idea where from.

EDIT: Oh, he's that guy. Still no idea where Arno learned the name from. :lol

Dunno. The storytelling is awful, just live in Black Flag. It's very difficult to keep up with what's going on and it's all but tightly knit together.

I haven't really kept up with the game since launch, and I bet you guys are sick of this but is it playable now? Which platform is better for this one? Best buy has been running a sale and it is tempting.

I am thinking about getting this but those who have completed the game, can you tell me how long the story is as well as the Dead Kings dlc?

Thanks.

I'd say you're looking at around 20 hours at least for story+dlc, closer to 30 hours if you do the side missions as well.

uplay.com says i've put in 45 hours which seems really high, i did everything except the collectibles.

Is the iPad companion app worth downloading and investing time into?

If you care for total completion and some minor additions to your gameplay experience, then yes, it's worth investing time into.

The application itself isn't very entertaining nor does it provide any deep insight into the game though.

It's playable. There are dips in framerate and severe pop-in.

I have a code for sale for Xbox One...if you're interested.

Guess I'll pass on it then, why is there a premium version?

The premium version gives you more Nomad Brotherhood slots as well as exclusive assassins to better help you clear though the various missions.

I believe it also gives you some sort of income bonus as well?

All in all, it's hardly worth the expense and it seems the redemption status is highly prone to errors.

Decided to play the game again after playing rogue and now Iim in to try and unlock everything. To do so Ill be needing a pretty active club. Anyone have an active club still in Unity? I want that Medival Hood!! haha.

Ubisoft sent me an email commenting that I haven't played in a while and that Paris still needed my help. I already knew they kept track of these things but still, that email came out super creepy and needy.

So after finally completing the fucking companion app it appears I have to redo all seven rifts again (you already have to play them 3 times to unlock other shit) and hunt down seven artifacts within the rifts on order to hopefully finally unlock the Altair outfit and some useless clothing no one at this point of the game could possibly need.

Do Ubisoft actually hate their customers?

I just did this mission.

http://youtu.be/TJ4rqWiv5qo

Seriously, it's amazing how much different the game feels without the HUD. I which I could take even the mission log out of the screen but I can't unless I play with "all hidden" (but then, I would need to check the objectives in the Progress Tracker which is annoying).

I'm loving the stealth gameplay of this game, it feels much more elaborate than Black Flag.

Not happy.

loaded the game today, first time since completing it so I could start Dead kings dlc. As expected Uplay updated the game fine.

But deleted my save game! No chance in hell I'm doing the game again.

Can I play Dead kings without doing the game again?

One of the Companion missions isn't showing up as completed for me in the progress tracker. I haven't played unity in a month or so and ground out most of the stuff in the app in that time. I'm not sure if recieving all of the mission and chest rewards at once is what messed it up.

If you're a member of the PC GAF club, we won the weekly competition and have unlocked the Schiavona one-handed sword for free. We also moved up to Division Gold III.

This week's competition gives extra points for poison gas and sync assassinations. The two missions with extra points are - Smuggler's Paradise (Heist), Girondist Round-Up (Co-op). Just FYI - any Creed Points you earn while doing single player missions or other co-op missions also count toward the club competition, as do the use of poison gas/sync assassinations. You just get additional creed points on top of that in Smugglers' Paradise and the Girondist mission.

No, I think you have to be at Sequence 3 or 5.

Just got started on this the other day. Wanted to wait until most of the big technical issues were ironed out, and run through Black Flag first; which I found to be a lot more enjoyable than I expected it to be.

Unity has taken some getting used to. While the animations are impressive, and the free running flows about as well as it ever has once you get used to it, compared to previous entries it feels so... Floaty? I guess that'd be the best way to describe it. Not sure if I like the difference just yet.

This is the most fun I've had scaling buildings since AC2, though. Game's beautiful.

Question about co-op missions: Do the number of rewards you receive depend on how well you do during a single run, or how many times you play the mission? If anybody's still playing, it would be nice to have somebody to talk to during some of the more difficult missions; I've only completed The Food Chain thus far.

You unlock one piece of equipment per co-op mission run, so when for example a co-op mission has three rewards you need to play it three times to unlock them all.

If you're holding R2+X Arno will do the "parkour up" movements while going forward, which looks very floaty compared to using R2 by itself and tapping X occasionally to manually make far jumps.

Free running down and vaulting over stuff with RT/R2+B/○ is awesome, by the way. Dunno what took them so long to implement somethin' like this.

Thank you. Kind of wish they were unlocked based on performance, but I suppose that would prove too frustrating to those who don't or are unable to play in a more coordinated manner with friends in private sessions.

So... Everybody's done, then? :p Came too late, I guess.

What platform are you on? I'm on PC and I'm still going through Dead Kings. As soon as I'm done with that and re-doing the speed runs/app crap to get to 100%, I'm going to delete the game from my hard drive. But if you're on the PC and want to try some co-op missions, post your Uplay nick so I can send you an invite to the Neogaf club.

I'm on Xbox One, actually.

Speaking of 100% sync, you don't have to mess with all the extraneous stuff like Initiates and the companion app to get it, do you?

This game is really awesome to me, like 9/10 amazing.

But WOW I haven't played a game with a framerate like this since N64.

Ruins the games tad bit.

Would that not include companion chests?

Don't count in the achievement/trophy nor the chest synchronization criteria.

The only thing stopping you from 100% synchronization in-game are the extra relics gained from completing the specific missions granting them in the companion application.

Despite that fact, the extra relics are not needed to obtain all the achievements/trophies if that's what you're going for.
