that's dragon's dogma except multiplayer alright

now where's my dragon's maw

and elevenfold arrow

basically i really hope they don't nerf how good everything felt in dragma that's one of the key aspects

Feels like they're diving too deep into the monster hunting "fight and climb big beasts" end of Dragon's Dogma while leaving everything else behind, including the singleplayer part of it. Not a fan. All I wanted was Dragon's Dogma 2: Improved and More of Everything Edition

How are they going to make money off this?

This is where I start to fear

Don't you ever underestimate F2P market. :)

It'll be their main source of income for the next few years, in fact.
If they managed to nail the f2p model perfectly.

I need this game more than I need LIFE.

Capcom. For all that is holy find a way to bring this to the west. If you really want it to do at least semi decently it NEEDS to release in the west.

i wonder if they're gonna use concepts from the original ideas they wanted to put into dragon's dogma

like going to the moon or the original version of the everfall

Seems like the combat and spellcasting and climbing are intact (they would be the biggest idiots on the planet to change that)

f2p though... I don't want to get my hopes up.

Is this still by the devil may cry devs?
DD was brilliant because it was made by a brilliant dev team, if they put some B team on this I don't have much faith in it

I'll still need to see more before I get too excited. Haven't even seen night time, or any environments that look interesting to explore. Gransys was pretty dense with nooks and crannies full of secrets and whatnot, even the capital let you run around all over the roofs. The environments shown in the trailer look big and fairly empty, good for housing monsters, but little else. The city's walls and buildings look almost too large to be scalable.

I just feel like they're going to cut something.

Couldn't agree more. Gransys was chock full of little hidden secrets and chests here and there. I loved that the towns themselves were part of the world with their own little hidden platforming puzzles instead of just bland hubs for quests, stores and whatnot.

The bigass city they're showing in the trailer is worrying me, because it looks like every other MMO hub city. "Huge" in name only, but completely empty of anything to do other than see other players walk around in it or stand idle for 8 hours.

The director is the one behind the Dark Arisen expansion. I imagine Itsuno and his team are busy with DMC development.

This could be a big deal. I got hyped for the game and I've never played the original. Trailer was well done.

Hope the f2p aspects are well implemented (yes they actually can be well received and profitable!). If so, I'll be begging for localization.

Oh wow, this is fucking cool. I had no idea there was these concepts.

yeah, the original dragma/dark arisen is like 30% of what they wanted to do iirc. itsuno had a pretty grand plan and stuff like bluemoon tower being this huge epic trek and giant area that barely gets used or all the other stuff that just seems 'bizarre' and rushed

same with the blighted manse, and the canyon where you fight the cockatrice or whatever

or the giant gate in the orc/goblin hideout where you fight the arch hydra

Well its not, according to Capcom UK :p

Nice , dark arisen was awesome.
It'll be up to the f2p system how good or rotten this game turns out then.

Best system they could do to not piss off too many people is to make it cosmetic/armors. You want to get the more outlandish armors for your level? Real money. Want to buy other colors/hair styles? Real money. If they give you the option to obtain these with hard work and just use the real money to cut corners that'd be the best option as long as it isn't impossible to get it via non-$ methods

I'm not seeing anything resembling Deep Down.

Looks like a cross-gen game alright.

This looks nothing like Deep Down. Nowhere close.

These are assets from OG Dragon's Dogma. Game was planned along side Dogma's expansion, Dark Arisen. Nothing to do with Deep Down.

deep down is still separate, and judging from the trailer this game is re-using assets from Dragon's Dogma (obviously) and runs on the same engine Dragon's Dogma did, MT Framework

It's completely different from Deep Down. Not really any shared tech as built on different engine and I don't see any shared assets.

Eh, that dragon fight looks straight up like the one from a previous deep down trailer.

Sounds like PSO2's F2P system.
Cosmetics like costumes and hairs are available at the cash shop, but you can also buy them with in-game gold. The most important thing is, no stats on those cosmetics.

:O

Never seen this before, that stuff sounds really awesome, hope they do get to explore concepts like those this time around. I think they will be able to do much more with the way they chose to make this one compared to if they just chose to make another single player standard game. They should be able to pump out lots of new content over the games lifespan as long as people continue playing and buying things.

Can't wait for this, hopefully the inevitable western release isn't too far off. I will probably play the Japanese version as soon as I can anyways lol.

i don't get the merit
It looks exactly like Dragon's Dogma, 'nuff said.

Yeah I definitely thought that the game was moving along at a pace that hinted that the game was going to be really quite long with a huge world, but before I knew it was already nearing the end.
I do know about the post-game and haven't touched DA, though, so it's not like I'm out of things to do.
It definitely felt like the devs originally intended the game to be much, much bigger but had to cut a lot of it.

If it's a hub city like MMOs then there will be things to do so long as you look for it. No need to stand around for 8 hours, it's a city. What are you expecting to happen there aside socializing or taking part in the games economy. That and picking up quests I guess.

I hate the f2p structure, but there is no way that I am going to skip this. It looks like pure Dragon's Dogma and I have to at least try it.

Anyone get the impression there will be little quests that involve much unique dialogue from NPC's and an over-arching story or any love interests, stuff like that and it will simply be a monster hunt?

Seems to me it will get very boring very quickly if that's the case.

Tell that to the monster hunter players.

Is that...rain... :O

Old news, and came only mere hours after the game even got announced at all. This means jack shit.

That's the thing, though, I don't want an "MMO city", I want a Dragon's Dogma city like Gransys filled with NPCs that had their own schedules, climbing up to and jumping across roofs, that kind of thing. It was very unlike many other RPG cities that, as I mentioned, are merely "hubs". The way the original DD implemented cities made them feel more important than just "hubs" and I'd like it to stay that way.

(The whole 8 hour thing was a jab from my part about how pretty much every MMO has tons people idling their character at the spawn point for 8 hours causing the framerate to tank. An annoying but inevitable staple of MMOs :p)

I can only hope! Sounds perfect.
