Dragon's Dogma Online 1st Trailer

DO you honestly believe Capcom and Sony would spend resources on a project like this and put in a mechanic like that?

People would spend 2 hours and it and then uninstall, sure there will be some MT, but it would still be subtle enough to not piss of players right from the start

Have you honestly followed the free to play market in japan? Like at all?

Graphically this looks last gen. Animations are wonky as hell too, then again, it is based on a pretty solid franchise and foundation, so the game itself could be great gun. Disappointed it's F2P and online though. Side note, Deep Down looks closer to what I would have expected a next gen Dragon's Dogma to look.

Here's hoping a Dragon's Dogma 2 is still in the works.

Parts of that look so much like Deep Down, I was thinking that it was just a code name for this game...

Seriously though... Capcom now has two F2P games coming out that look almost identical in theme and setting?

Ugh. If the engine is already ported to PC they'd be extremely stupid not to just release Dragons Dogma+ Dark Arisen on PC. I'd pay 40 euros for it Capcom, you hear me?

I'd PAY for it. I wouldn't spend a single dime on DD Online. But if that's all I can possibly play I'll take it. But no money for you :(.

The engine isn't ported to PC, the engine is a PC engine; MTF runs on pc's and gets ported to consoles.
So in a sense DD has always existed in some form for pc, it was just never released.

This really makes me want to go back and play the first Dragons Dogma. f2p is very lame, because I don't know what to expect from it, is it just play a bit to get access to the game, or is it paying a lot to win with little effort which devalues the challenge of the game.

I'm not looking forward to the future of gaming to be honest.

- Hey man, wanna party up and take down that dragon in DD?
- I don't own DD... when did you get it?
- Huh? I've been playing DD for a while now...
- Wait, do you mean DD or DDO?
- What's DDO?

In all seriousness, I saw Yoshida say we need to ask Capcom to bring this outside of Japan. Do we need to start a Twitter push? Capcom forums? It would be a shame for it not to come out here.

Spam Gio Corsi since his group specializes in localizing things over if all else fails.

Makes the decision to not release the PC version even more perplexing.

Better than people accidentally playing Dungeons and Dragons Online by Turbine.

Also, I have to laugh at the people saying this looks last gen. So, a PS3 game looks like a PS3 game? Really?

This isn't some mobile game though, your example is exaggerated

Oh so it'll be like Ace Combat Infinity for example. Pay for fuel. Wheeee.

Also this is Capcom we're talking about. They monetized continues in the newest Resident Evil. A full price retail game. Monetized CONTINUES.

If you think the F2P elements of this game aren't going to be utterly fucked, then I don't know what kind of Magical Christmas Land you live in.

But I played that game until I was fulfilled (which was good btw) without paying. I mean yeah maybe you have to take a break to let it recharge but it's not so bad. I would have finished it if it was as good as the ps2 games.

I'd love it if this was f2p like that. Basically a free game for me.

Looks pretty awesome, hope they announce a western release by the end of E3. Anyone who thinks this isn't coming out here is dead wrong.

If its not shown at E3 2015, it wont be hitting western shores, thats for sure. Slim chance but unlike Deep Down, they havent said anything of having a western audience in mind. Im on the camp it wont be released on the west but ill wait and see till E3 to be for sure.

Doubt Sony would be involved with this if it were to stay in Japan/Asia.

Really want to play, but the free-to-play thing kills me. Probably going to be a massive time-sink that will suck all the fun out of it for me, fingers crossed that I'm wrong, though.

So essentially every MT-Framework game is a downport on consoles? So that's why the engine has always been amazeballs on PC huh.

So basically Capcom is just stupid.

There was monetization in RE6? How did I even miss that? Me and my buddy died several times during co-op.

He means Revelations 2.

And it's not the regular continues they are monetizing, rather something akin to the Gold Orbs in Devil May Cry which revive you on the spot instead of having you restart from a checkpoint like normal.

God damn it looks just like the Dragon's Dogma we know.

Please let the F2P stuff not be too harsh, although I'm afraid eternal grinding is in the future if I don't want to spend any cash.

Looks like the melee players get all the fun while ranged just range, lol

Dragon's Dogma has the best bow users in any game so far. Magic archers just wreck shop and I think magic is going to be ridiculous in a co-op environment. Unlike games like Skyrim sorcerors basically are walking natural disasters and you can charge up your spells faster if your pawns channel with you. I'm imagining a team of sorcerors wrecking shop casting multible maelstroms or meteors. If I wasn't on my phone I would post gifs.

Oh that's so fucking dumb. Not game breaking, but dumb as fuck. There will be some poor sod who falls for that kind of bullshit. Ugh.

Revelations 2 is also not a full priced game. Seems like a lot of hysterical screaming IMO.

Probably not going to be a problem. The general reactions to the Deep Down footage have been negative. It's either visually "generic" or too "not Dark Souls". And then there's always the carnival of stupid mistaking it for Dragon's Dogma who will react similarly with it being "not Dragon's Dogma". I wouldn't worry too much. I'll probably be the only one playing Deep Down if it ever comes to the west.

I mean, no, why should I?

And that's a real problem. Japan, Korea, some factions of China, they've got this F2P thing down to a science and have been pumping out games that are pretty good and really fun, but the only exposure we retain in our minds to the F2P model is fucking Zynga bullshit. The entire concept is completely toxic here and it's going to take a LOT for people to stop ignoring games just because their F2P. Telling people that everything will be fine because the East has it figured out isn't going to give people a whole lot of solace when it comes to finally having to confront this thing, mostly because the games that do it so well will NEVER see the light of day outside of their respective regions. That's like telling Japanese gamers that 3rd person shooters have the ability to be something really innovative and fun and not all just by gears clones, and then telling them to play Unreal Championship 2 which never released there, or conversely, telling american gamers that Japan really does have the ability to make a fun comedy based mech game, and telling them to play Metal Wolf Panic.

I mean, real talk, poor Hawken! That game is fucking amazing but I feel like no one ever gave it a real chance because of it's F2P model!

This isn't some mobile game though, your example is exaggerated

But we don't, we being western gamers, have the exposure to games that do F2P well. So of course people are leary about it.

People told me for the longest time that Warframe was good, but I never bothered with it until recently because of the f2p nature. Turns out that game is pretty good.

It takes a LOT for people to try new things when money is involved.

Poor guy, I don't even remember what enemy was at the other end of this attack.

Poor guy, I don't even remember what enemy was at the other and of this attack.

I love it when I'm attacking something big, climbing all over them and getting to their weakpoint, and all of a sudden, the sky opens up and fucking meteors start raining from the sky around me because my Pawn wanted some time in the limelight.

"SHE'S USING THE NUCLEAR OPTION AGAIN!!!"

Dragon's Dogma is so fucking good you guys, holy shit.

What platform would you recommend a purchase on if I were interested?

I felt it ran a little better on 360, then PS3, but then I played Vanilla DD on 360 and Dark Arisen on PS3. Honestly, there's technical issues on both, go with the platform of your choice.

Also, sadly, with Dark Arisen you don't get the super hype Into Free opening :(

Where did this come from?

What is this? An MMO or something? Sheeesh! Instead of a real sequel, we get this? LAME!
