Teens react to The Last of Us

Gotta watch this later. Elders react to GTA V was the best thing ever, as it shows that age doesn't deny you of having fun.

Am I the only one who finds this kind of stuff cringe worthy? I mean, what's the point? Validation? Wasn't all the 10/10 scores for the game enough?

Teens React is a series, he's done it for a lot of subjects and even elders react to things.

"I wouldve curb stomped him and told Tommy to save his bullets"

Sure you would have, yeah i had trouble watching that video. However, its a very heavy scene at the end, i dropped the controller.

Edit: oh shit im a member now

Hopefully they have the elders play it too. I think it will be more interesting than the GTA V one.

Edit: are they gonna play through it all?

If it weren't for NeoGAF, I wouldn't be watching these Teens React videos with games.

They're actually really entertaining.

It's so fake. You have to be alone playing this game or at the very minimum left to play it, instead of giving your opinion to a camera knowing your being filmed.

I love kids react and elders react, but I think something is missing from teens react. It's definitely better than Youtubers React though.

I agree, i played Until Dawn at PAX, they told me that they had cameras at the stations, mentally i told myself to try and not jump at anything.

It surprises me that half a million people already wasted their time watching this staged piece of crap.

I like the elders and kids react videos due to the insight it reflects on human nature and level of progress. Other reactions, opinions from teens or adults are worthless in light of that.

I'm not a fan of any of these videos in general, but I agree with you on your point. Especially since they're reacting to something current. What exactly do we gain from watching teens specifically react to something that is a part of their own generation?

If I wanted to watch a Teen react video, I'd just record myself play a new game and watch myself. Although I wouldn't want to do that anyway.

Topic: I knew this scene would be shown, it's so emotional.

Reactions seem about on par to everyone else I've showed the game to. The "startles" are a bit overdone, but I've seen people actually become horrified to go down the stairs while in the house, so I guess it could be genuine. This is one the most powerful game introductions of all time. If you that doesn't pull you in, then nothing else in the game will.

I'm I the only one who always tears up at the end of the intro?

Edit: Guess I'm not alone

Pretty cool. I think I enjoyed this one just because it's nice to see people enjoy things that I enjoyed. I think it's almost time for a replay of TLoU.

Yeah, probably the only one of these videos that I could tolerate, and didn't decide to quite early on. Guess The Last of Us' intro is just that strong, heh.

these react to videos are shit are people getting paid to post them

3.2 million subscribers & 200 million views. Yes they're being paid, yes people enjoy them.

Their "about" page says
Fine Brothers Entertainment is a full service production company that has amassed 2 billion views online and over 15 million subscribers across their channels. Brothers Benny and Rafi Fine started by making feature films in high school that played in film festivals, to now having a staff over over 25, recently premiered a TV show on Nickelodeon, pilots for several other networks, have feature films to be released in 2015, won awards at the Daytime Emmys, Streamys, and the Webbys, and constantly featured in the biggest publications (Variety, NYT, Huff Po, Times, USAToday, 100s more).

. They know they've made a masterpiece when you've got people who are playing it for the first time tearing up on camera.

this doesn't make any sense either. just because it evokes emotions doesn't mean it's a masterpiece (and some people cry at anything), it may be a masterpiece(arguable) for other reasons but making people cry is a pretty low bar to set.

Yeah, was going to quote this too. Anyone can make the intro to this game and make some people cry. Doesn't make the game a "masterpiece"

This was cool, I like seeing how people who maybe don't play games or are out of touch with them react to a masterpiece like TLOU. That it affected them so much just shows how damn talented Naughty Dog is

I actually quite liked that. Not enough to watch the rest of their videos, but I'll keep my eye out for the rest of The Last of Us series.

Troy Baker is freaking amazing in this. jeez.

I know he's getting a ton of work recently, but he deserves some serious recognition for his performance in TLOU.

Hey that low bar is rarely reached in video games. I agree with you however.

That was fun. I like that they use kids that clearly do not play console games or have a firm grasp of using an actual controller. I thought that was very apparent with the camera movement, or lack thereof, and having to glance down to find square/triangle.

Don't really like the videos most of the time but this and Elderly Reacts to GTAV were both pretty great.

Old and out of touch people: Why would anyone sit and watch other people play video games?
Gamers: Pfff, you people need to keep up with the times.

Now why would anyone want to see the reactions to other people play video games. Why do twitch streamers and lets players have face cams. Why are face cams built into the PS4 and X1 OS? It's a goddamn mystery.

Lol all the haters. Yes they know they are being filmed. As does anyone doing reaction videos or let's plays.

They usually do a Q&A afterwards but the intro is a bit long. Thats usually the more interesting part. Especially with the old people. I like seeing their reaction to being exposed to something they might not otherwise watch or play.

They should have had Maisie Williams in the video. She's been in a few of the teen reacts series already. Wonder if she's played the game seeing as how she seems interested in the ellie role.

This happens every time someone posts one of these threads. "God I hate these!" Then don't watch..?

The only react vids I don't care for are the really young kids because they lack any kind of perspective. "What is this old thing? So stupid!"

Though I will say with these teens I found it amazing that any of them died in the friggin' prologue. All you have to do is point forward, maybe turn once in awhile, but that's it.

I just do not understand the stuff people cry at (or pretend to). The introductory TLoU cutscene shown was about the same lacklustre standard of direction and writing these games always come up with, riddled with clichés, obnoxiously unsubtle design choices to force players in a certain direction, appallingly bad use of the camera (in the non-player controlled segments) and 'big' moments dependent entirely on flash rather than substance to elicit a reaction. Only thing that's improved is the graphics - terrible shadows aside - and the voice acting, which was pretty good considering what the actors had to work with. I'm sure the actual game is as groundbreaking and magnificent as everyone claims it to be - haven't played it, obviously - but it's inconceivable how anyone could hold up that introduction for anything other than its failure to master even the most rudimentary building blocks of storytelling.

His first few takes of that scene is pretty damn cringeworthy. it's a good thing that Druckmann turn out to be pretty good at directing his actor.
