Oh, very cool.
Is there an official Nintendo guide to upgrading your microSD card to a 32GB for the Monster Hunter 4 n3DSXL? This is coming from a first time 3DS owner so no transfer is required.

Does this kit contain the correct Phillips screwdriver (#0, right?) to open the MicroSD compartment? I want to make sure I order the right one.

Makes the fact that NA is never getting it that much worse.
Had the chance to try it last night. I was devastated in the first thirty seconds as the 3DS clearly had a difficult time adjusting to my nerdy face and gave me a rowdy headache.
Then in my second try, it fixed itself with some ridiculously hard-to-break 3D that looked just incredibly great. So good and consistent that I dropped fifty right then and there for the pre-order. Maybe my brain just had to adjust?
If anything, my only reservation now is that the color choices suck.

Good to hear about your experience.
Yeah either the eye tracking works very well or not at all which is annoying.
The colors do blow though. If they made the top cover removable, you could maybe find 3rd party covers for it. However, they did not...
So the only covers are going to be protection based.
Regular was smart enough to stick with white and black.

Next friday I pick up my "Available SKU #1" and Majora's Mask 3D from Gamestop. Considering my old XL had some minor...malfunctions with the charger (the soldering on the port came loose, had to hold the plug in a specific angle to get it work, which funnily enough was NOT the reason I got charged their rediculous 35 Dollar refurbishing fee, it's because of a "cosmetic defect" near the right shoulder button (a chip of plastic apparently missing) so I was gonna replace anyway, so I figured might as well get the new one). I'm excited and can't wait, got my screen protectors ready, a Majora's Mask decal from Etsy (a friend ordered it for me) to put on it, a new charger sitting in the ziplock bag it arrived in. I'm all set. Only hassle will be the system transfer from the pack mule 3DS in the house to the new one, since I have a 16GB SD micro IN the pack mule system (with adapter) that I want to use in the new one.
Anyone?
I was actually going to get this color instead of black like I always do. Then I was forced to preorder black haha. Red doesn't look bad, but I don't like it as much as the blue model.

Have a question..I was going to purchase some nintendo rewards from their catalog(like Kid Icarus and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3DS) but they require a lot of blocks and I currently only have 26,488 blocks free(So on my New NIntendo 3DS XL it wont be enough) so I was thinking about upgrading the card but not sure which one I can get..I see on Nintendo's web site they have some that are confirmed working but they are so expensive so any suggestions would be great

I just got back from Best Buy where I preordered my black New 3DS XL along with Majora's Mask, and I was happy to find that they had a New 3DS XL demo unit in the store!
The black one is barely black, it's more of a grey or silver color but it looks really good. I know some people don't like the glossy material, but I think they did it really well. Only the outside is glossy which IMO helps with gripping the device even if it does get fingerprints easier, but the inside of the system is matte so at least you don't see them when you. The device was bolted in pretty securely so I couldn't get a good feel of the device, but it looks like it has great build quality.
The buttons and d-pad feel great, maybe even better than the 3DS XL (which was already an improvement over the OG 3DS. I played with the stick a little, but I feel a little stupid because I didn't actually use it when I actually played a game, haha.
And finally the 3D effect with the face tracking was crazy good. It seems to work a lot further away than my current 3DS XL which I felt like I needed to hold pretty close to get the ideal effect, and tilting the screen didn't mess it up at all. I was very impressed with it and I can't wait to get mine next week!

I had a 3ds way back when they first came out. The 3d effect was meh and I never used it. I gave it away to my old roommate kids.
That being said, I'm actually going to pick up a new 3ds xl. Looks great. I need to get my nintendo on.

9.4 just like the regular 3DS. All 3DS share the same firmware. Gateway/RegionThree doesn't work because different specs.
I have a question. I'd like to trade my 3DS XL in for the new 3DS when it comes out. However, I have games on it like Zelda: Four Swords, Punch - Out, Zelda DX, etc. Is there a way that I can bring them over with my new 3DS or will I lose them? Is there any way that I can erase them before trading in my current 3DS XL?

You'll need to open the new 3ds in the store (while you still have your old one available), and do a proper system transfer between the two systems. This will transfer the licenses from the old to the new, and you won't lose your games. This will also reset your original 3ds xl back to factory. You'll have to transfer the contents of the sd card separately however, as SomewhatGroovy mentioned.
Never done this at Gamestop, but it sounds like they are accomodating.
Edit: Huh, guess they changed this for the n3ds transfer, it can wirelessly move your sd card data to the new micro sd, space permitting. But 'up to two hours' standing around waiting fot it, no thanks.

Backing up the sd card data will save some downloading time, but won't transfer the licenses. The full system transfer is needed for that.

The fact I got the MM model makes the alt covers pretty void, but honestly it was a dumb move to not sell the original model here in the US, or at least, ya know, allow covers on all models of the n3DS.
Perhaps Nintendo's choice for that not to be allowed was geared towards their "whale" strategy? Like, their older fans will be purchasing the XL model who will likely be purchasing Limited Edition models as opposed to alt covers?

I believe I read that if you opted for 1 day shipping (aka launch day delivery) they would be charging you card slightly earlier to prep for those shipments. That's the shipping method I chose and I ordered the same thing as you did. I saw my account charged yesterday. I imagine we should see confirmation emails from GS in the next day or so.

Decided to pick one of these up. I ditched my old XL last year. But with the new 3D stabilizer and games released in the interim I got the itch to grab one again. First time I've ever rebought a sold off platform--though I guess it is sort of a new one. Without the new 3D (checked out the demo unit in Best Buy) I wouldn't have bothered as I could never use it before as I fidget around too much to stay in the sweet spot.
Unfortunately Best Buy and Gamestop weren't doing pre-orders instore anymore. Just ended up having Gamestop do an online Pre-order with ship to house. Looks like I won't get it for a couple weeks based on the estimated delivery date. No rush anyhow as I'm need to finish up some stuff on Vita anyway.
Picked up Mario 3D Land again (never finished all the extra stages), and have Majora's Mask preordered at Best Buy. Smash as well as they were sold out--it should be in for pick up on Friday too.

I went to Gamestop yesterday and preordered it and they had them. Did you try other Gamestops? I'm guessing just that one store is out of them if that's the case.

I tried 2. Both said they just cut off in store preorders after yesterday. I started a live chat to see if I could upgrade shipping as I noticed it just went to "value." They didn't offer any non-free shipping, so I'll see what they say.

Ended up calling. Hopefully it got taken care of. The main system wouldn't let the rep update shipping to overnight as it may have already been in processing, but the secondary system let her change it. She said there was some chance it could end up canceling it, but unlikely as it looked like it went through. Thus I should get it Friday, or Monday in worst case. We'll see. If it gets canceled, no biggie I'll just try to nab one locally.

So my loving fiance decides she'll take my 3DS and to trade in her 2DS.
So I drive back today and they tell me they aren't taking pre-orders anymore.
this is just the latest news in a long, long series of jumping through hoops i've experienced with this 3DS. If I can't just walk in and buy a new 3DS XL on launch day then I can just wait till their next handheld.

It sucks they didn't mention the closing preorder date to you last night though, and that the clerk put mine for value shipping instead of overnight which it should have been rung up as.

My GameStop won't let you hang around while it transfers. I just buy the thing at full price in the morning, do the transfer, then bring mack my old system for a credit in the afternoon.

I called my local target and the guy said that they should have "plenty" of the red one..not sure if he knew what he was talking about he couldn't check anything on the inventory database. I figure if I can't get the system on release day from Gamestop, I can just buy it at Target(I have a 50 dollar gift card) I can buy the system, do the system transfer at home and trade in the system back to Target(Would make 58 dollars and I wouldn't lose the AC Adapter) dont know if that is a smart move or if I have other options I want to get the most $ from my system, already put it on craigslist just to see what would happen but so far no biters
