The artbook isn't for pre-order, it's for the Wii U + game set.

EDIT: Game case in the Wii U set will also have a reversible jacket, if I'm reading right. Stand alone game will be one sided.

It's best to avoid creatures that are far above your level. Watch out for obards. Creatures with special names require caution.

Dolls can't just be used by anyone, only certified Blade members. Creatures of Planet Mira. There are many different kinds, big and small.

Just follow the Navigation Ball to your next destination. Use the Hopper Camera to get a bird's eye view from above your current location.

Did you think traveling would be a hassle? You can dash, jump, and skip travel to data probes you've placed. Navigation Ball helps the lost.

There are so many locations in each continent that they can't all be explained. Each has a number of landmarks, secret areas, and vistas.

Finally, the Black Steel continent. It's a volcanic area. It's really huge! Tatsu keeps saying the continents are huge. He can't help it.

NLA is on the grassland continent. Next is the Night Light Forest continent. Then, the Forgotten Canyon. They're all huge. The White Forest.

For european ears the voices of US english localizations sounds almost the same :)

I'm European and I love both US and UK English^^ It's the style of acting and women sounding like 4-year-olds in a lot of Japanese VA that I personally can't stand anymore.
It's more about bad voice over direction, not the language itself. I've been a huge Anime fan, always insisting on listening to the original VA, but my tastes have changed dramatically in the last few years.
Well, it's just a matter of preferences, anyway. If there is English audio I will just use that.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own
Can anyone gif the part with the mech flying through a dense part of a forest, and navigating it and it looks so goooooooddd

Not to be greedy but I do hope there are more areas/zones in the game.

Dont mean I think this will be too little, seems to be a lot to explore, I just really hope there is more as I am really liking what I see of these areas.

So damned conflicted on this game.

Firstly, the good:

Fuck me but those environments are just gorgeous! Amazingly colourful, beautiful richly detailed, overwhelmingly grand scaled, full of life and life forms, and just hands down some of the best open world landscapes I've ever seen.

The creature, tech and mech designs are similarly fantastic looking, and I desperately want to bomb around in one of those transformer mechs.

On the other hand there's the bad:

The character animations are terrible. Even just moving through the environments, they look like lifeless animatronics superimposed over background. Their movements bare no relationship to the speed or ground they're travelling, the swimming looked like utter dog shit in particular.

The combat too, looks weightless, and unrealistic, more like a pair of mimes staging a fight, rather than an actual coming to blows.

Lastly, those huge areas, as grand as they are, greatly concern me. Just how much to do in those massive expanses is there? Because in terms of game progression and interactivity, they seemed almost completely empty, all style over substance, and potential boring to have to traverse once the spectacle and novelty has worn off.

On the opposite end of the scale, there's those menus. That's a fuck ton of info and apparently items there, and I seriously worry about bloat because of it. Depth and too much ether than too little content is always better, but there are limits, and I so not have as much free time for excesses in games as I used to.

Finally, the ugly:

Those character designs are just fuck ugly. It looks like the creepy malformed puppets from that Lazy Town show. I've just never seen a game with such hideous characters before, in the 30 years I've been around games.

Overall, I'm still giddy with excitement, but I'm also kind of disappointed this isn't looking better beyond the landscape eye candy.

I'm just playing again through Xenoblade so seeing all this feels so familiar yet so way above. The scale, the monsters, the mech play, everything seems so much better. I have a tremendous good feeling after watching this.

And as far as the characters go the only one I dislike is Lin and I really like Elma (I hope the English voice will sound as nice as the Japanese one). I also like the other characters and I'm sure I can create a nice character to play with.
If I would know a bit of Japanese I would have ordered that special bundle immediately.

I don't get your point though. They should make this game shorter just so you and people in your situation can play it? Aren't there plenty of short games out there? Like most games made? Maybe this game isn't for you if you are seriously worried about it. Hate to say it.

Nah, if you have the time, it's great. I'm not knocking the game, but more bemoaning the amount of time I'll actually have to play it...and that I won't really be able to play it "properly." A game like this requires at least 2-3 hour sessions to feel meaningful.

I'm with you in that "family drama" :p
But, the solution is easy: every small piece of spare time will be dedicated to this game, that will probably last at least 6 months in my Wii U.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I marathoned The Last Story when I was on my paternity leave with our first child, and that game was basically the perfect RPG for someone in my situation. Great length, not overly complex menus, a focus on action, and still a pretty immersive experience.

I am playing Dragon Age Inquisition on PS4 right now and the game looks very nice visually.

This impresses me so much more...god damn...we need more of this type of JRPG. I am hotly anticipating FFXV, but I kind of wish they went this route of creative release...I want to play this.

Game looks great, but I don't think I'll ever be able to get over the white haired character looking like she's a Barbie made of plastic...
Or screw it, she actually almost looks like a gelfling from The Dark Crystal.

NPC faces seem rather normal. Are they deliberately making weird player character faces?

If there's one thing I cannot stand about the majority of animes, it's when they don't have a cohesive aesthetic, where the main characters look like they are from another planet compared to practically everyone else on the show. Same thing seems to be going on with this game. The main characters stick out, and not in a good way at all.
