Zombie Army Trilogy |OT| Nazi Zombies (no, not that one)

That's the M1 Carbine. I usually use the Lee-Enfield for it's 10 bullet magazine and bolt-action mechanism, though.

That flying corpse in slomo looks so epic.

Thanks. Goddamn, that was an epic sshot and yeah, the flying decapitated corpse just makes it incredible.

Best rifle IMO.

The Lee-Enfield I mean.

I'm going to have keep this in mind when I get my copy. Fingers crossed it arrives tomorrow...

Does one need to use a particular sniper rifle to have their bullet continue it's path like in that webm video above? Or was it because it was more of a glancing hit so the bullet kept going?

The game has grown on me since I last posted.
I still no doubt stand by the fact it just has to be more fun playing with other people, but it is still very enjoyable playing on your own.

Any rifle will do it. As long as there are a few zombies lined up in a row for the bullet to travel through. It won't happen 100% of the time, though. But you can increase how often the slow-mo x-ray cams happen via the options menu.

I have it set to 'reduced' as I've found that it loses it's novelty if I see it too often.

Can anyone GIF that WebM so I can add it to the OP?

A bit big in file size, I can turn up the frame rate or gif size if needed (or turn down), but here:

Just bought the PC version for £11 on Steam and the PS4 DD version for console friends multiplayer.

Always liked this game. :)

I managed to headshot a sniper zombie in mid-air, and the trophy didn't pop up...it was then that I realised that the trophy was for simply shooting them in mid-air...the headshot that I spent 20 minutes trying to get wasn't even necessary. ¬_¬

I'm on the second campaign now. I love how the whole map turns black and white whenever lightning strikes. Very nice touch.

Had to post my quick thoughts via Steam review.

Criminally underlooked at the time of writing. Surprisingly atmospheric, backed with excellent and somewhat unnerving sound design, and a great John Carpenter-inspired soundtrack. Fog effects are well-handled, and the lighting can be impressive. All backed with an excellent 80s-grindhouse horror aesthetic that brings out colors and shadows almost like a Giallo horror film.

The game is enjoyably schlocky, with gore and dismemberment up the wazoo, and intensely satisfying gunplay, with snipers stealing the show with the well-done mechanics of the Sniper Elite games, but just as much satisfaction coming from the other firearms, and a variety of explosives and traps you can lay. But even with this, the game is challenging, with a large variety of enemies (ranging from your typical nazi zombie, Ray Harryhausen-esque skeletons, the ghost of nazi generals, fire-spewing demon incarnates, crazed-slasher chainsaw maniacs, and much more) that can be a challenge to take out and can manage to either overrun you or sneak up on you from behind. Zombies resurrect with satanic circles bringing them back to life until their brains are blown out or you dismember them beyond repair. The locations are vast and varied, both in layout and theme, ranging from streets of Berlin, underground war bunkers, demonic infested forests, high-speed trains, haunting church chapel catacombs, and much more.

It's co-op is a lot of fun, allowing strategy and different play-styles to mesh well, to find the perfect sniping spot to pick off zombies and compete against friends for the highest scoring or longest shot, to go lone-wolf and carry the most kills for your team, or to come together when plans go awry and struggle to survive by the skin of your teeth. But even with the co-op focus, the game is also an excellent experience single-player, the game allowing you to scale how many enemies there are (enemies for one player to four players, or if you're insane, 'Elite' number, which spawns those who third for stupidly large hordes and a challenge), among three different difficulty levels.

A lengthy meaty campaign with 15 stages (each being around an hour long), side-missions to do in the third episode, an addicting Horde Mode, all at a reasonable price tag. If you love co-op games or zombies, it'll be quite the undertaking to something find better than this. Dumb fun, but intelligent and challenging in surprising ways, it wears its inspirations on its sleeves, but through slick execution and presentation, matched with pulling it off in a way no one has quite done it before, manages to be one hell of a game.

A few observations I noticed also that they've changed at least from the first game (have not played the second game) outside of the advertised dismemberment system, female characters, x-ray, graphical improvements, etc:

-Sniper Elite difficulty seems tougher for some reason, I can't quite place my finger on it, but it seems a lot more challenging than it was is Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army 1.
-With this, the machine gunning zombies seem MUCH harder now, they seemed to have been made with a lot thicker-skin now.
-When you die now, the black-and-white effect used is much nicer to look at now, and now there's audio! Previously, you'd not hear a single thing when spectating, now you hear washed-out sound effects but no music, big improvement.
-The gun selection at the start is slightly different now. You can now choose a shotgun from the get-go, for example, which you couldn't in the original.
-Your melee is MUCH more powerful now. I like the change, but others may disagree.
-For some reason, they changed the British dude to a German dude, so there's now two German dudes. Not quite sure why the change?
-They've changed some things in the environment. A lot of minor changes, like more detail/things in certain places. One of the more notable examples, in the first stage, you go to a desk to summon a giant horde that come down a street to the building. In the original, the desk was just.. A desk. You interacted with it, and the horde summoned. In the Trilogy, there's now a big glowing skull there that has an animation when you interact with it which summons the horde. There's more subtle things they added as well, and other things like what I just mentioned.

Not sure if anyone noticed, but one of the Female zombie killers, I forgot the name, first one in the selection screen, is "Tequila" from Rebellions AvP 2010

Surprised with how fun this game is. Probably my favorite zombie game to date. What little reviews i could find are not good though.

Thanks, just felt like there were a few times I should have seen it but I did not, perhaps I just have not pulled it off yet.
Whatever the default is is what I have it set to, so will check, maybe I need to bump it up a notch.

Getting a slo-mo kill cam coinciding with a lightning strike looks amazing.

Can't get over how bloody fantastic this game is.

So hey I've played V2, which one would be the better buy for ps4? Zombie trilogy or V3? Are there any noticeable difference in the gameplay styles? Like does ZT play like V2 or does it have more of the "openness" of V3?

SE3 and ZAT play quite differently, despite sharing the same framework.
ZAT is more linear while SE3 has mostly open levels and has an emphasis on stealth (but can still be played guns blazing).

Just finished playing through the first level with a friend on co-op and haven't laughed that hard playing a game since GTA V launched. Running around kicking skeletons to death, setting up elaborate death traps during the siege portions...just fun all around.

Picking this up tonight or tomorrow.
Question: I see "points" pop up in videos I'm watching. Is there some kind of persistent character element to this game, like skills to upgrade or unlock?
