Yeah I don't get it either, and the games everyone tries to use as arguments against those visuals are usually cross gen.

Indeed, They made the best looking launch game for these machines and it was cross gen to boot. Two more years of work plus no last gen is likely to do wonders for at least getting close to this graphical quality.

It's pretty simple to "get it". Beyond Two Souls and GT6 were both exclusives and released on the end of PS3 life cycle; one of these games is extremely linear, the other is a closed circuit racing game. Battlefront is a multiplatform game being released quite early on this generation, with 20 x 20 players in the same map, in a online multiplatform structure, wich its trailer just says "game engine footage".

Also, wich game is that much impressive?
I mean, wich game comes close to this in terms of light, physics, foliage, textures, animations and yet holding 60 frames per second? Not even saying it seems to be running at 1080p?

So yeah... nothing really comes even close until now. I for one can't understand how some of you are swallowing that we will get this same quality on PS4 or XB1. There's no way. Maybe we will get something close, but at a lower resolution and definitely not with all of these high quality details.

I hope I'm wrong at this.

After battlefield 4 and hardline, Dice really need to be careful with their statement, there is no way that the game will look like this at 60 FPS on consoles, even of PC it's difficult to believe...

We'll see.

Ep VII DLC
Clone Wars DLC
Space DLC

Totally going to happen.
Yeah, most likely. Lots of DLC was going to be planned from what I remember. The content for this really feels empty considering no campaign and maps from only 1 battle per film. There is so much that feels left out for $60. We could have more DLC maps than total launch maps by the time its done.

After seeing that trailer, I have to pre order this. Getting it on PSN next payday. I can't wait. This looks like it might shape up to be the best action based star wars game.

This will probably be the first game from EA I preorder since Mass Effect 3.

And no ADS!!! (apparently)

I guess I should wait to see some gameplay first, but yeah, pretty much everything I'm hearing about this game sounds fantastic.
Well that's a killer for me. I love ADS and not having it makes no sense to me. Of course it is a video game so realism isn't exactly high on the list, but as someone who plays a lot of PC FPS, ADS is too natural for me to not have.

You don't play arena based fps on pc like unreal tournament, counter strike etc...?

There's no way this game doesn't have ADS. It's DICE for crying out loud. With JackFrags being the hardcore Battlefield player I thought it was kind of obvious when he said "also, when in first person mode you can aim down the scope", that he was referring to standard ADS that most games use today. I imagine he would've elaborated further on it if it was something we dont see too often, like he did with the radar, and well...everything else really lol

I'll gladly eat some delicious crow if there's no ADS.

Maybe DICE isnt BSing and the trailer is exactly what the game looks like.

The game is letterboxed like the trailer and thats how they are getting the FPS where it needs to be while still looking good.

BF4 was a decent looking game and 60fps. I can see this looking a step above that if they keep the same 720p/900p resolution on consoles and with 20 less players to worry about. And less destruction. Plus the various engine optimisations and console SDK and driver updates since then. It should look pretty nice.

No, they're bullshitting or can't distinguish graphics for shit.

The models and colours are going to be almost the same!

But the aa, original resolution..lighting...shadows..particles...motion blur...60fps too!
okay. but no.

Battlefront also isn't gimped by last gen.

I expect the same resolution as BF4.

I don't believe that you'll be speeder biking in a forest that dense. It's too much resources for the newer consoles and I don't think anybody could pilot around the trees.

60/900p likely.
This is optimised for next gen consoles only, so it will look at least as good, without the scripted animations and AA.

And its only 20v20, lame duck. I hope the PC version will be 32v32, i mean you have AT-AT Xwings and all. Needs big maps and big maps need more players to populate them

ADS wasn't really a thing until console shooters, right? A lot of classic FPS games don't have it. CS, UT. Hell even Halo doesn't have it (until now... I guess).

Anyway I'm fine with no ADS. Kinda prefer it to be honest.

I actually dont think BF4 was held back by last gen like a lot of games are.

Unlike basically all cross gen games which are identical outside of the graphics, BF4 was not afraid to break feature parity with old gen.

If anything I think BF4 on old gen versus new gen is a great showcase of what other cross gen games with feature parity are missing out on.

BF4 on 360/ps3 is like the weird PS1 versions of Tony Hawk games that happened after the PS2 was released. Its sort of the same game but not really.

Uh BF4 MP from 360>XB1 is really just more players, and slightly better resolution, and 60 FPS. The next gen games were definitely gimped by the old gen.

I'm kind of scratching my head at all the comments saying things to the effect that "the game will look nothing like that".

The game is a mere 7 months away. I guarantee DICE knows exactly what they can achieve and the majority of aspects of the core visual design have been set for a long time. They're also going out of their way to make it clear that, yes, this is how the game looks.

Of course the final playable console versions will not look this good. Even the PC version's gameplay won't look quite this good. This is a cinematic in-engine trailer, not moment to moment gameplay, so that is to be expected. Most gamers understand that trailers are somewhat gussied up and are usually running on high end PCs. But the console versions will look similar enough that the developers have some wiggle room in saying "this is how it looks".

Do people really think DICE is going to show a trailer that is not at all representative of their game a mere 7 months out and go out of their way to shout from the rooftops that this is the way it looks? I don't.

The animations and IQ will obviously not look that perfect, but lighting and in-game models look more or less in line with Battlefield 4 on the highest settings on PC. I really don't have a problem believing those are pretty much in-game (albeit on highest PC settings).

People seems to forgot that BF4 is gorgeous at almost 60fps while the game was released at launch and cross gen.

What we see on the trailer is not so different, evolution on lighting and explosions, not a big deal considering there is only 40 players against 64 on BF4 then smaller maps

BF4 doesn't look anywhere near as good as the quality of that forest section, even on "max" pc settings. It looked almost movie quality.

You can go up to ridiculous resolution right, not sure if there is a max on pc, but yeah.

Exactly. I don't think many people are expecting raw, moment to moment gameplay to look as impressive as this cinematic trailer. Most gamers are smarter than that.

But when people say "it will look nothing like this" they are literally claiming the final game will bear almost no resemblance to this trailer. And that's just a little bit silly, no?

They make it sound like it will end up looking like this:

Some of you lot are falling for their marketing.

"in-engine"

...at non-gameplay graphical settings - pumping out 1 frame per minute, edited into a video.

Just because it's not going to look like asteroids and probably won't be worse than BF4, doesn't mean you should get hopes up in any way for graphics like the trailer makes you think. It was basically movie quality.

It'll be alright.
