I'm not sure if it'll look like that on release...but wow if they can get it close.Did first person look similar to Battlefield (gun bob, kind of weighty)?
And would you say this is pretty close to what the real third person mode looked like?

I would love to believe something like this is possible. That its legit. That what we are seeing here is happening.
But as an overall image this right here imo is the greatest in game graphics of all time if it happened. Like if this was actual gameplay from the actual perspective I just don't see a single game that holds a candle to this. And its supposed to be 60fps on consoles AND have 40 player online?
As others have said I would love to eat crow. In fact I hope I get entire plates full of them. Deep fried, BBQ, baked, whatever. Give me all the crows. But I just don't see how such a thing could be psychically possible on current generation hardware. Hell even on PC it just doesn't seem realistic.
Please prove me wrong EA / DICE. It would be the best thing ever.
^hehe, well I don't think they'd try to gimp the PC version for console sales, especially with it being heavy multiplayer (less worried about piracy).
Unless modders bring us computers from the future...it's just not going to happen. It will still be great I'm sure of it, just don't expect to be playing a movie.
yup, I wish too, maybe next gen or the one after that.
I still hope they can make it look really really great, but it's not going to look 5 times better than the best looking games that aren't as demanding made by top programmers. Battlefield Hardline was made by the same engine just recently.

Battlefield 4 and Hardline also ran on 360 and PS3.
I don't think they'd drop such a large amount of possible sales unless it could make a big difference.
And this is an actual Mcdonald's Hamburger...

I seem to remember some very similar hype reactions to BF4. They claim this isn't another Battlefield game but I can't help but be skeptical.
That makes sense when they have to limit the game on better consoles because previous gen consoles can't handle it. EG PSASBR with a vita. PS3 version slightly gimped in terms of features because Vita won't keep up and they have to be able to play together.
It doesn't mean the consoles or PC could handle something a million times better looking. Console versions weren't running hardline maxed out on next-gen, and hardline doesn't have shit on this. And both are using the Frostbite engine right.
Sure they might be able to add some nicer effects that PS3/x360 just wouldn't be able to handle, especially if they drop player counts etc. But it's not going to make this leap. Not even on the most expensive rig.
The sales won't drop in any meaningful way compared to the positive impact of these trailers on hype. People still want to play a new good star wars game and it won't look like a shit show. It will look good, even great for most people. But I do hope for a backlash anyway though.
No way it is going to be 60fps.I'm not the only one thinking "don't believe their lies" right...?
I would really like to know how they are going to deal with Heroes and villains being playable in locations that they were never at. The game is listed as canon, even though there is no story mode. In the trailer, in the Boba fett shot, it really looks like he is on Jakuu. For anyone that hasnt seen Return of the Jedi, spoiler I guessBoba Fett dies years before the battle of Jakuu
Maybe im just thinking too much into it. But it is odd that they would list this in the most recent canon timeline, but not follow canon

Rumor is they're making it canon Boba Fett escaped the pit. Could be their introducing that in this game.
Windows 10, and more importantly DX12, will be out by the time this releases. Hopefully they'll be able to leverage some of the new features and optimizations found in DX12 to allow PCs gamers to really crank up the visual fidelity.
Did first person look similar to Battlefield (gun bob, kind of weighty)?

I think it's just cherry picked footage but still in engine... There are parts in COD:MW1 that look almost that good when the angles and lighting are just right...
lolUh, what?

Nice and within 6 months they can clean allot of those jaggies up on console hopefully. Maybe it will be 900p on the PS4 and 720p on the X1?I saw actual ps4 gameplay today at Celebration. The actual graphics do look like the trailer, if you imagine it with a lot of jaggies. Obviously the footage was rendered on a much more beastly machine. However when it comes to lighting and models and even a bunch of the animations, it was all there.
Of course the exciting camera angles are not there in gameplay either which makes it look significantly less crazy cool. But it still looks awesome.
Third person was a little bit farther back from the player but still not too far.

Was it more like the second image "Gears of War"?
^How far were you sitting from the screen?
Also did you see them switching quickly between third/person and first while moving about on foot?
That trailer was more impressive than UC4 and The Order. Expecting it to look like that, at 60fps, with 40 players, in a multiplatform title is imo pretty ludicrous. I would love to eat crow, but I don't think I'll have to.
Yeah, that is a good view...
The impressive lighting was there?
I think what they mean by canon is that the events portrayed in the solo/co-op "Battlefront Missions" are canon. I wouldn't expect them to make all possibilities in full multiplayer to be canon (especially Empire winning when they should have lost, vice versa).I would really like to know how they are going to deal with Heroes and villains being playable in locations that they were never at. One thing I dont see a lot of people mentioning is that the presentation dude made it a point to say that audio is a big focus in this game and that it is designed to fully support and take advantage of Dolby ATMOS on PC version.
Of course I only got to see this all once and I couldnt pause to analyze anything, but from what I saw, the lighting was there yes. Biggest differences were just resolution and aliasing. All that foliage with all those tiny little edges sort of looks messy at console resolution. Will probably look better in the final product.

I'm fascinated by the fact that people on this forum will defend the Uncharted cut scene to death and say the game will definitely look like that on release with no downgrade, but are also 100% sure that Battlefront is bullshit and WILL be downgraded...
Yeah it's hard to remember and spot this stuff in an exciting media show that you can't pause, or watch again so I won't hold it against you. Just trying to pull as much info as I can - the sparks and explosions looked impressive and thick? From laser firing (and turning into sparks)? If you can recall.
I read some posters mention the audio even on the trailer, it does sound good for sure, been watching it on my laptop though.
I don't believe the lighting is going to be there though, it just looks too good. Shadow depth is insane.
But BF4 on PS4 ran at 60 in my experience more often then not. I played allot of rush and domination though, smaller scaled modes. I really believe with the smaller player count and good optimization from tech wizardry they can get the game to run at a good clean 900p 60fps with dips that may hit the mid to low 50s and I would be ok with that. That smooth 60fps is what I appreciate most from shooters and racers and they seem to really be advertising 60fps and I think they can pull it off.If the PS4 version is somewhat close to the trailer than maybe they should just target 30 fps and clean up the image, BF4 had many drops anyway so why not recognize consoles can't render such fidelity at 60 and go for a good stable 30 fps with a good IQ instead?
From what I saw it'll be close.
I saw actual ps4 gameplay today at Celebration. The actual graphics do look like the trailer, if you imagine it with a lot of jaggies with less clarity farther away. Obviously the footage was rendered on a much more beastly machine. However when it comes to lighting and models and even a bunch of the animations, it was all there. That is indeed in-engine.
Of course the exciting camera angles are not there in gameplay either which makes it look significantly less crazy cool. But it still looks awesome.
I was originally planning to get this on PS4 and while it still looks good on the console, seeing the difference between the in-engine rendering and the actual console output, I might go for PC.
If you have a beastly machine it seems perfectly possible to have trailer-matching graphics 100%
Third person was a little bit farther back from the player but still not too far.
Yeah they definitely said it was still in progress and I'm hoping they can smooth it out.
Those with beastly PCs though should have no trouble matching the trailer graphics from what I saw today. It's like they said. That's really how the game looks. The console versions are just lower resolution and with less filtering, which definitely makes it look more gamey.
Oh yeah definitely more like the second one than the first.
Might have been takkes about, but this pre-order page talks about some form of early access for ps4 as well.

Do we know anything about this? Has Sony managed to come up with something to counter the EA access program on X1?
