i like how they are taking pics of death star up close, even though it is now confirmed there are no space battles in this game. what a bunch clowns!

and is it just me or do most of the maps look very uninspiring? generic desert, generic forest, generic snow map and a generic lava map

lol

You've watched Star Wars, right? The original trilogy which this is based off of?

Seemingly first look at third/first person mode.

The key takeaway for me here is that this is split screen. Not sure if the PC has a splitscreen mode as well (that would be odd), but this leads me to think that this is the PS4 version...

And still looking great.

Sorry shinobi, you were too fast ^^

Idk why people say this isn't possible on consoles (yes even at 60 frames). It looks fantastic, but nothing that can't be done on the PS4/XboxOne. Especially for how long the team has been working on it and we are like 2 years into these console's generation.

PC games have had split screen modes before.

That's probably a bullshot too.

kinda looks like split-screen concept art tbh

Concept art? It's literally the same game-play space as the trailer, AND the gameplay demo shown behind closed doors.

Down to the character models, lighting, textures, etc.

Only a matter of time before we see gameplay at E3 and it looks almost exactly like the trailer minus cinematic flourish.

PC games have had split screen modes before.

I know. But it would still be odd(IE not common). Only one I can think of is Left 4 Dead.

I feel like the hard-working and intrepid designers at award-winning studio DICE took on this epic responsibility with one key founding philosophical pillar: willful intent to retcon the Battle of Endor as an Ewok-free environment.

I wonder if we can get anyone who saw the closed doors gameplay to confirm if that split screen image is akin to what they saw?

I'd have to believe that Naughty Dog doesn't know what they're doing if DICE can pull this off, on PS4 (along with XBONE and PC), at 60fps. Heck, I'd have to believe that Kojima Productions have lost all their technical capability.

Can't do it.

2 Player splitscreen and TPS / FPS being an option gives me more hope for this project, very unlike AAA games from EA.

People will most likely denie the graphics of the game until it releases. Even with a gameplay video people will say "This will be downgraded so hard".

Well they have already confirmed that the game looks like the trailer but with little to no AA.

But people are in denial about that.

Well even though it hasn't been confirmed, but I doubt it will be 60fps in split-screen. I wouldn't look down on Naughty Dog and Kojima technical capabilities because of another AAA developer DICE is bringing these graphics on the platforms at 60fps.

Look at Crysis 2 on PC, it still holds up to today's graphical standards especially with maldo's textures and from what we now know about the PS4s specs it should be capable of doing it as well.

They only show that still image, so who knows.

It's a still screenshot presented in the video. Most likely bull shotted to hell and back. Got dem Classic a Ubisoft light source flares.

Thanks.

I knew there were shenanigans afoot. I don't know why DICE are doing this, they have to know that the more they keep pretending the game looks anything like that, the bigger the backlash will be when they unveil the real game.

It'll be Ass Creed Unity all over again. Unless they go out of their way to only demo the PC version running on whatever beastly cards are currently at the top of the power mountain.

Every generation has it's Gears of war/ uncharted 2 moment. Maybe people r expecting this to be it? Idk. I think the PC version can definitely look like the trailer but the console version, that's just crazy

I'm going to take a stab at this one despite having very little knowledge in the field relative to many of the fine folks on this site.

I think there's a huge difference in approach here and that's what's going to (maybe) carve things ahead for DICE on this project. Naughty Dog's campaigns are linear but they take a lot of development resources to get just right. DICE is tackling everything not just from a multiplayer-first but almost a multiplayer-only perspective. Yeah, it takes an arm and a leg to get stuff looking good in such a scenario, but omitting a narrative altogether saves a heck of a lot of time and effort to get that right. Meanwhile, Naughty Dog is working on ensuring that its single-player setpieces deliver the goods many, many times over the course of its ten-hour storylines.

Kojima Productions may have built the generally-stunning Fox Engine from scratch but it's looking at manufacturing a vast open world in several settings for MGSV. Huge, huge maps filled to the brim with seamless immersion and a metric overload of if: then clauses in the gameplay. So many different routes, so many different paths. That takes up a lot of effort too... and on top of that Kojima's attention to detail insists that the cutscenes themselves still look hot as hell.

DICE bypasses all this by saying, "we'll have big maps and we don't have to worry about narrative. We'll have diverse gameplay but we don't have to worry about players approaching anything remotely linear with myriad nonlinear styles. We're building a sort of sandbox and then we're done."

Oh I know that lol. It just would be nice to have someone say it.

Because nothing in that pic looks out of the realm of possibility. You're looking at a game not shackled by last gen hardware. DICE expanding on the amazing Frostbite engine. If I was worried about anything it would be that this game works at launch. Not how it looks lol.

Well said. On top of all of that, we haven't seen much of Uncharted nor Metal Gear... and on top of ALL of that... we haven't anything from Battlefront other than a 3 second snipit.
