Batman Arkham Knight - "All Who Follow You" - Official Trailer

Seems like it could sort of be like GTA V. Swap to a character and then the previous one will have AI take over. The co-op takedowns I can see replacing the new batmobile takedowns when traversing interior spaces.

If it ends up being an AI partner it better not be stupid, it'll pull me out of the game if I see Batman dawdling around and barely doing anything or getting beat up like an idiot.

Sounds/looks like you can call the A.I. partner to flank enemies do co-op stealth takedowns/attacks and switch between them at will, maybe.

Shame this doesn't seem to be real co-op though.

I imagine it will work with each character getting their own little places in the story to come and help Batman and there the player will be able to switch between the two freely. At least that's what it looks like when you see them do stealth takedowns together. Looks as if the player controlled Batman, perched him on a gargoyle, then used Robin to sneak up and initiate a co-op stealth finisher.

Haven't they said he's a brand new character? Why do people keep thinking he's a character we already know and have seen in previous entries?

Because we don't believe them. Its not like they are going to admit it if someone asks them if it is someone we already know. It would spoil a potential surprise.

I'm still holding on to my theory that the Arkham Knight is made up by Batman from the fear gas.

In the E3 presentation, AK was shown to be talking with scarecrow in the beginning (over the radio, where batman wasn't listening in). AK was piloting a helicopter but to be fair that could be anybody.

The comics thus far seem to have him be real / not an illusion as well.

But to be fair.. the comics does seem to contradict the Harley Quinn Arkham City DLC. haha

All hands on deck, huh?

Pretty exciting trailer. I'm amped for the End of The Batman.

I hope Jason Todd shows up as a reluctant ally or something. I doubt the twist will be that the Arkham Knight is OMGJASONTODDROBIN cause it's too easy to predict.

That was an awful trailer.

Seriously, all of the trailers for AK have been mediocre or just bad. Did the trailer editor from Arkham City leave or something?

My theory is that something dramatic happens in the first act *coughbatmandiescough* and so they are limited as to what they show.

You don't really get the sense that they are showing any footage with Batman that's 4+ hours into the game. They keep showing a small amount of the same clips.

It's an explosive collar (you can see the red wiring and grey plastic explosives). Very good catch. So I guess Batman's allies will be fighting against him because otherwise Riddler will blow their heads off?

It's probably just the side-quest Catwoman is part of. Maybe the culmination of the Riddler trophy hunt, with Batman not doing it for sport or to save civilians, but to save Catwoman.

So your theory is AK is going to pull a MGS2.

I'd be ok with this, if the character you play after is the Arkham Knight, because its pretty much guaranteed he is Jason Todd.

There was a theory I read on YouTube regarding the identity of the Arkham Knight that I could see happening. It was that the Arkham Knight is Luke Fox, Lucius Fox's son from the comics (Luke Fox is also Batwing). Lucius plays a fairly big role in the Arkham Knight comics, makes his first physical appearance in the series, and he was barely a footnote in the previous games. In hindsight it's almost like the comics are trying to introduce Lucius Fox to readers so that the twist doesn't seem so out of nowhere.

I'm not sure about the motivation but that would certainly be surprising.

The Red Hood has been confirmed to be in the game.

Because if he really is some completely new character, that would be really stupid. AK is supposed to be the "dramatic conclusion" to rocksteady's arkham games, and the Arkham Knight is supposed to be a villain who knows how the batman works. When you beat him and pull his mask and he is some new guy you have never heard of and your reaction is

it has no impact. Rocksteady has been hyping up the AK a lot, so for him to be someone you are just meting now would really have very little impact.

Also, there are a lot of signs pointing towards the fact the AK is Jason Todd.

Arkham City
- AC is the first time batman see's a lazarus pit
-
Ra's was the mastermind of AC, and he escapes.
- If you play the Joker challenge room as Tim Drake, he acknowledges that he killed Jason Todd in the Arkham Verse

Batman lore

-Ra's is the one who brings Jason Todd back to life with a Lazarus pit
-Red Hood (Jason Todd version) began by killing of criminals while saying Batman isn't going far enough to save Gotham.

Arkham Knight promo stuff

-Red Hood is the gamestop pre order bonus
-The voice clips of AK make him sound young.

Arkham Knight prequel comics

-
AK kills criminals batman caught and left for the GCPD, all while internally monologuing that Batman isn't going far enough to protect Gotham
-
AK really hates the Joker. He beats up some of Jokers old thugs all while lamenting about how much he hates him.

So while the AK might be a new character, his alias has to be an existing one.

Good to know it's not just me. I feel that the trailers have been getting worse with each game.

Annnnd Nightwing continues to be an incredibly lame and pointless addition to the Batman universe.

Oh well, at least Catwoman looks great.

Just watched it for the first time. So fucking psyched. I just went through a binge where I read all 153 pre-Nu52 Nightwing comics, I'm so ready for this.

I forgot, but Jason Todd was Nightwing for like one issue.

That was a really dumb arc. It lasted for like five issues and was just
"everybody hates Nightwing now because Jason is dressing up as him and shooting people and he won't stop doing that because he's an asshole."

That might be possible, cause they've said this villain is totally new to DC but the normal version could be someone we know.

This isn't the first time its happened in Batman.

Back in the animated series, they had a new villain called "The Judge" but it turned out to be
Harvey Dent/Two Face

Talia did make reference to "that night in Metropolis" in Arkham City.

If Dick becomes Batman that could be a pretty interesting take on the Dick/Damian dynamic.
Or Tim could rightfully become Batman and take down Damian like he's always wanted to.

But that would imply that that night was maybe more than 20 years ago. The AK appears to be in his late 20's or early 30's.

Unless the AK suit is just a mech, and when he is beaten a little trap door opens up revealing a 10-11 year old child, I don't think there is anyway it could be Damian or a version of him.

The ending of the trailer with the poignant music playing is throwing me off.

Since Bats won't die, does this mean an ally of his will?

Hush was a brand new guy before his arc. It doesn't need to be somebody old to be a dramatic conclusion. It's not like there's been some overarcing conspiracy to each of these games that would require the Knight to be somebody old in order to satisfy people.

Why do we think it can't be somebody they'll introduce in this game? If it wasn't somebody entirely new, why would they say anything at all?
