I really like him as Ghost. He sounds half robot, half mysterious space helper. Something not human trying to communicate like one. Which is exactly what he is.

When people talk about not liking his performance I totally respect that, but I don't understand. It's like a mix between C3PO and R2D2, feels dead on to what someone intended.

That said, the storytelling, script, and chemistry between voice actors is remarkably improved. Really glad to see them making such an effort.

Yeah I've never understood the complaints. He is playing an AI, not Tyrion Lannister. WTF did people expect him to sound like?

Whelp... That's it for me. I'm out. I can't deal with the roadblocks this game keeps putting in front of me enjoying it's content.

Can't see in game Clan members unless you have them friended.
No clan management in game.
No general chat.
Dinklebot hamming up the story with phoned in performance.
No matchmaking on basic stuff like raids and now the horde mode?

That's the camel that broke the straw'a back for me...

If you got the strength to resist Destiny you should indeed bounce. But the reasons you're giving I don't think it's the reasons your camel's back should break.

You have us (GAF) for matchmaking. Just add everyone's PSN when they post it. When you want to make a group, just post:

LFG PoE (x spots open)
1
2
3

Something like that.

And thank god Dinklebot doesn't speak. Anyone that wants peter dinklage back hasn't had to run the story missions for 3 characters + weekly heroics and NFs. Only voice I could bare for that much time would be Claudia Black. But definitely not Peter I don't know what went wrong. He's great on Game of Thrones. I love him! But on Destiny.... I don't want to hear him again ever. Bungie can save their money

[edit] I misread you appear to want Dinklebot muffled too. My bad

Bungie is too concerned about trolling, that's what I noticed, they're afraid someone will get their feelings hurt. It's as if they forgot they made a FPS online shooter at times.

i like his role and he's a quirky character when he's being morbid about dying.

but the delivery and timing of his lines, as well as the content of them is really awkward. Two lines in particular that I can't stand.

"he hive have been seeding earth for years, waiting for their GODS to return."
"be careful, its power is dark!"
"we may be able to find something to help us survive the darkness"

all of these are just.... so nickelodeon

I shouldn't have to go to GAF (or another third party website) to get to the content in an MMO... Bungie calls Destiny a "social" game but the only thing social about it is how it forces you to socialize outside of the game to play the game...

The first PoE which is for level 28+ has matchmaking, why cant Bungie do this for the first tier of each raid too?!

Well if Bungie had a LFG or formal 'rooms' that allowed players to inspect each other's gear before letting them into a match. I'd shoot for that.

Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer had just that. Sure, people's feelings got hurt when they got kicked out the room but it made for nice experiences. And surely ME3 MP's Platnium horde mode difficulty was just as bad as Destiny POE (I'm guessing cause I havent purchased HoW yet)

Frankly, the term 'the darkness' irritates the piss out of me. I still don't know what it is, I still kind of want to know what it is exactly, but I'm kind of like.. eh at this point.

always so odd reading a post like this from a gaffer. We're basically all in one big huge clan together.

GAF is my first stop to look for a group always. Even for random matchmade activity

Destiny absolutely needs an in-game LFG system. But it is odd to read this on GAF when you could post in the community thread and be likely be playing PoE hard modes with others is low single digit minutes. If you have even a passing interest in them, the barrier to entry for you is quite low. If your desire to not post in that thread exceeds your desire to play the game, then yes, you won't be spending much time in the hard mode arena/NF/raids.

I'm all for playing with GAFers, as I said earlier, I joined RaidGAF on day 1.

If Destiny would just show you your online clan members in game so you could invite them to a fire team, that would be HUGE.

Haven't checked the community thread since a few months after launch... It was a pain finding other Xbox One players at 3:30am CST...which is usually when I have time to game...

OH snap you on Xbox One? Then forget what I said yo. Apologies I thought you were on ps4

Most of DGAF on PS4. I get you now.

Hopefully Destiny 2 gets a LFG tool or allows us to host rooms for activities.

PoE is pretty good!

Me and my friend had fun in there.

Guaranteed rewards are an awesome bonus too unlike the raids.

Liking the expansion so far, I think bungie are on the right path now.

So does The Prison of Elders have more objectives than defusing mines, destroying mines and taking out a VIP unit?

If its just those three I don't see the mode having real legs.

Even if I had ditched my RL friends and family and bought Destiny for my PS4 (they all stopped playing shortly after story ended when grind was encountered)... It's still inexcusable that the game doesn't let you see clan members in a list for fire team making in game.

I mean by joining a clan you're saying "Hey Bungie, I want to group with these people". Why would you not want to be able to access that list in game?

I just don't really understand the difference between LFG and Matchmaking. Either way you are pairing up with a bunch of random people.

Matchmaking might even be better in terms of matching up with the right levels for the rest of the party. World of Warcraft eventually just added matchmaking for the 5 man dungeons and it was a godsend cause you never had to fight to find a Tank or Healer for hours on end through LFG.

I don't get Bungie sometimes.

Me and everyone I've run the 28 Prison with has gotten an exotic from the key chest. I've run it on 2 characters and got Monte Carlo and Icebreaker respectively. Will run it with warlock tonight and see if I get another one. Guess next week we will know if it is 1 guaranteed exotic weapon per chest per week.

So does The Prison of Elders have more objectives than defusing mines, destroying mines and taking out a VIP unit?

If its just those three I don't see the mode having real legs.

That's all I've seen so far. I am sure they could add more but the modifiers are the fun part for me, except lightswitch....

Yeah, that combination does make it harder. There's been some effort for Xbox player to organize a bit there, but at that hour it might still be tough. Worth a shot, especially now when this DLC is fresh and there are a lot of players.

I really hope they get Dinklage back for more VO work in Destiny's lifespan. I think it was great casting.

Hate to be a downer, but it's a challenge finding X1 teammates on GAF even on Tuesday evenings :/

I just added everyone from GAF on my ps4 friends. I just simply hop in on them. Sure clans would save you like one step

But sure clans would be cool and all but personally I got a long list of things I want them to address before that. Such as adding more permenant game modes to Crucible (or even just modifiers like no-supers, no radar, etc)

Matchmaking is a poor choice for difficult content for a single reason: players lack commitment.

People click matchmaking on a whim. It takes no preparation or consideration or even knowledge to use. LFG ensures a little quality control and this is important when you're commuting to an hour long session that could end in failure if everyone isn't fully invested.

Matchmaking might seem like a good option to /you/ because it's convenient, but it causes as many problems as it solves.

I simply don't have time to waste an hour or whatever to make a dedicated group. Spending as much time coordinating a group as actually playing the game isn't what'd I'd call a good time. Just give me the option to matchmake and I'll take the risk.

If you want to make pre-made groups be my guest.

Bungie could also just include a message before the matchmaking starts, asking the players if they are sure they want to commit to 15+ minutes or face some sort of penalty for backing out during the match.

Easy fix.

Either that or at least put some restrictions on the content. User must have completed a raid or have beaten a Nightfall in the past (proving they are somewhat competent).

There's a lot of things they could do.

new maps are decent, just wish there were more,

not finished all the missions yet, but I like what I have played so far,

but as always with Destiny I am left feeling like Bungie is still holding back

Exactly. And this is how it'll eventually play out I think.

LFG provided our raid group with whatever random people happened to be on, some of whom dropped out mid-way through (Gorgon section of vault of glass). LFG doesn't in any way guarantee investment.

My experience has been that when LFGs for raids, you generally don't get a high quality team unless you schedule it days (or a week) in advance (like on the the100.io). Groups that can complete don't have as much difficulty finding teammates and don't end up on LFG sites as often. And I don't buy the argument that making it more difficult to do something increases the quality of player in the slightest. It just means only desparate people will use it.

People listed the same justifications for the weekly heroic strike no having matchmaking. Matchmaking was added to it and I have completed it dozens of times without any hitches because of it. I am 100% positive I would have the same experience if matchmaking was added to the nightfall. Everyone can say that it will be a bad experience, but its much better than the alternative. Dicking around on websites for hours and possibly never finding anyone.

Either that or at least put some restrictions on the content. User must have completed a raid or have beaten a Nightfall in the past (proving they are somewhat competent).

Yep. You could require previous raid completions, require a microphone, lock people out of the raid for a week if they quit, add player feedback at the end of the game which gives you a hidden "raid skill level", etc. There's nothing wrong with matchmaking if it's done well, and having it done poorly is much better than not at all.

Yeah but since you have control over your group you can make sure they never join again.
Random matchmaking will force you to play with that same scrub again.

Would be the worse thing ever for Nightfall.

Further, I'd say if you if you bought the expansion you would be already pretty invested in Destiny. The players who buy the additional content are much more likely to actually give a shit and be skilled at the game.

It's just really annoying... I'll buy this DLC the second they add matchmaking to PoE.

The issues matchmaking brings to hard content could cause more harm than good. Many players who use it for their first experience would have their experience soured by mute/un cooperative players, leavers, trolls, people who have no idea what they're doing. If pvp and strikes are anything to go by, matchmade raids and horde would be a total clusterfuck.

An in game LFG system would not take long. A game as popular as Destiny, I would take minutes. Make a party and advertise with a brief message such as "experienced and commited players only" or "newbies welcome".

Then list. Let players browse the list and join a group that suits their preference

Done. Much better than random MM and with Destiny's active player base there will always be enough players online at any time that it will take minutes at most to find a group.

There are better solutions than random MM.

well then buy it, cause matchmaking is there for L28 content.

Not trying to sell you the dlc cause i havent even purchased it yet. But I'm sure I will soon because I enjoy GAF's company

The dlc itself... doesnt look too great on paper. But only because I've done Horde mode for a straight year with Bioware's ME3 MP. And Bungie cant touch Bioware's level of support. For a whole year we got free updates (of course one can argue thats cause it had microtransactions)

So if I beat level 34 POE, and I want to do it again, If I have a key; I can open the big chest, just not the two little ones right? Until a weekly reset?

Yeah a LFG system for Destiny would be amazing. Would allow people to start groups for any activity- be it Story mode, Dailies, raids, etc. It's a must have. Even Dragonball Xenoverse has a LFG system of a sort.

only reason I don't trip is cause I got like 200 gaffers on my FR.

So, how hard is the 34 PoE? Doable with randoms?

If you know what to do and your at least level 33 then it's really not that hard. A Titan Defender helps a lot particularly towards the end.

Good communication is important particularly the first times you do it.

Just those 3 as far as I've seen. That's my biggest disappointment with PoE. Seems like it wouldn't have taken much more effort to make a few more objectives to spice it up.

Yep, completely agree. Random MM would be a mess with the high level content in Destiny. I'm sure Bungie has some LFG type system in the works, it's just a matter of whether or not they'll implement it in Comet or wait until Destiny 2.

I dont understand how LFG gives you a different "class" of player than MM...

You are just as likely to get people with no mics, no clue, etc.

Have MM which requires an active mic be connected perhaps.
