Hmmm, nothing about input lag. Gear VR bypasses Android to run the code with as little latency as possible.

No twitch competitor announced here, E3 we go

I thought Youtube Live was their competitor? I mean it's up now and in Hangouts, it looks like they are rolling out Hangouts on Air which is essentially Youtube Live which is twitch. There's just no push for it.

Man I was looking for some new hardware like Nexus 5, Chromecast, moto 360 2. But nothing in this dept. Very excited for Android M though.

Thing is, the cheap, easy alternatives to expensive projects will always be jokes among enthusiasts. Doesn't make them bad ideas.

Cardboard still requires a 300-400 phone. It's not feasible for a classroom to buy a bunch of these under the premise that "it's cheap", and the tech crowd doesn't give two shits about poor man's VR.

Yeah it really sucks there's no market for it outside of classrooms and tech enthusiasts

I swear to god, every year this thread gets hundreds of flyby posts saying that this keynote is boring and expecting major announcements.

Like, it's a keynote for developers. It's not a hype event for you. It's a way for Google to tell their developers what tools and features they can start using and developing

Ugh.

Overall, I enjoyed the conference and am looking forward to offline maps and android M the most.

I'm hyped for Google Photos, I just bought 1tb of dropbox for one month for photos backup, looks like I will cancel that and just use Google Photos.

They could be donated to schools. I think Cardboard VR is an entry point with very little risk on the consumer, Google, or hardware makers. The ideas and products can be applied to the higher end of the spectrum and in the end everyone wins.

I don't even know what this means.

What I was asking was "will a better phone come out this year at this point"

I'd expect the Nexus 2015 will include improvements from Android M out of the box.

No confirmation on that, so we don't know.

Obviously yes. There will always be something new coming. But since some beefy hardware changes have been made with Android M, I would suggest you to wait. Usb type C + Finger print scanner is a big thing. Nexus device will be launched with that.

Type-C is the type of USB. USB 3.0/3.1 speeds and it's reversible.

Maybe new Nexus phones in November-ish, but that would be it. So it would basically be down to Z4, G4 and S6 till then.

Why obviously? It's June, aren't most phones coming out in a given year announced by now?
