The Witcher 3 next patch first details - 1.05 (PC), 1.04 (console)

The lack of communication is what bothers me the most. CDPR always portray themselves as this company that values their customers. I'm really disappointed.

They've given an update everyday this week so far. What else you want them to say?

Launching the game through the .exe file without Galaxy even running doesn't make a difference. I played 50 hours through Galaxy without a hint of trouble, anyway. Shit's just broke.

I patched game without Galaxy and downloaded like ~300MB. I fired up Galaxy and it wanted to download ~700MB patch, u wot m8? Couldn't close that shit up quick enough so it doesn't fuck up my game installation like it did with Witcher 2.

i wish they would just say, "play the fucking game or don't, we'll fix it in the mean time."

For the exp bug? They essentially said that. They said the bug will not have any significant impact on the game and that people should keep playing.

I've decided to do just that. Got the exp bug early on in Novigrad and stopped playing. If i hit a brick wall later in the playthrough (which is probably likely since i play on death march) i'll just start over after the patch is out, the game is too good to play once anyways.

I don't think they will prioritize the exp bug right now, there are so many technical issues they need to sort out, especially on consoles that it looks like they want to get it right with their next patch. The first couple of patches were rushed and some aspects of the game are being reported to be worse. So they're in a rock and a hard place. Better take your time to give a good fix than rush one that breaks other things and the like.

What an extra 6 months would have done for this game.....

Alright, well, this is wonderful. Now I can't even launch the fucking game any more. I click 'Play' in GOG Galaxy and I either get an immediate 'The Witcher 3 has stopped working' error message, or a black screen with the Windows 7 spinny loading icon as my mouse cursor and nothing fucking happens until I quit through the task manager. Did the Verify/Repair thing through Galaxy and nothing changed.

Right click -> run as admin. Fixed it for me.

A lot especially on ps4 fps. Alpha effects are incredibly taxing where are not on xbone. This is had not sense at all imo.

Beyond the framerate in the bog (which is more a problem of how the game is buffering than anything else), what do people think an extra 6 months would have done?

Those people that are telling everyone to "chill" and to stop overreacting do realize that they're just aggravating that said person even more right?

I think that's bugging me more than the delayed patch at this point.

I visited the thread for word on the patch update. But stayed for the condescending holier-than-thou comments towards people who are aggrieved. These comments are far more aggravating than the lack of a patch.

Have CDPR communicated much since saying a patch would be arriving mid week? I haven't been keeping up with all this as I have moved onto other games; the game hasn't particularly taken me so far so I am okay to hold out for the patch.

So they should remove alpha or make it lower res. I am pretty sure there are just things that are expensive... especially when a system already has to fight for bandwidth.
Mmm. I don't know, on xbone are not that taxing why should be on ps4? Keep in mind Bog are fine without Alpha effect. It's not normal it low fps that much.

Depends how early you are in the game. Very early on, selling honeycomb. Later in the game, selling unwanted glyphs, runes and swords.

Speaking of Runes, I'm going through my untouched collection at the moment and was wondering what's worth keeping and what's worth selling off? I have so many dull 2% Runes that I don't think I'll ever use but I'd imagine you'll find more quality and higher tier Runes as you get further in to the game that are of more use?

Unfortunately that doesn't make a difference for me. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

EDIT - OK, fixed it. Post on the CDPR forums says to delete a couple of .dll files from the Witcher3\bin\x64 folder if the game starts crashing to desktop, and it worked perfectly for me. Hope it doesn't have any long term repercussions.

Anybody know what's the best way to earn some coin in the game? Without glitches

There's a merchant just outside Novigrad (
to the northeast, in a building on a hill
) who gives full value for monster trophies, so sell the ones with effects you already have for a few hundred crowns a time. The only downside is he doesn't have a lot of money to buy them from you, so you usually have to sell one and come back later.

Far as I know, the last update on the matter was this tweet:
Yeah this is becoming a joke. First it was the XP fix was ready to go Monday but we'll put it in the big patch because of no good reason but don't worry that patch will be out on Monday. Then it was Wednesday, then it was we are working hard and now it is basically who knows and fuck you if you want a better explanation.

So everyone is just left twiddling their thumbs having to speculate what the hell is going on.

Oh the glories of paying $60 to be a beta tester.

I had the exact same problem, and it seems everyone has a different working solution. Mine was to change a setting in rivatuner. I had "custom direct 3d support" toggled on, so I switched it off and the game worked normally again.

If you use any extra software for overclocking or capping your framerate try changing some settings.

The thing is the game worked just fine even on 1.04 with that setting toggled on. Then, a couple days ago I opened GOG Galaxy to check for updates and it appeared to download some tiny file. After that, it was instant "witcher 3 has stopped working" messages like you described until I toggled that settings in rivatuner.

edit: Good to see you fixed it. Maybe my post will help someone else.

This is more something that will steadily give you more income slowly over the course of the game, but only sell animal hides to inn keeps. Horse hides fetch 25 from general merchants, 39 from inn keeps. I believe bear hides get you 21ish and 35ish respectively. It adds up over time, and of my 2K currency I'd certainly have hundreds less if selling hides to general merchants.

Who should we sell valuables such as necklaces and gold rings to?

I understand the frustration, but what would you like them to do? Promise another release date that they can't meet? They're working as hard and fast as they can. Providing another hopeful release date is just bound to disappoint.

I hope they'll fix Geralt putting his sword away when there are still a crapton of enemies nearby.

Yes this is extremely annoying.

I have also been killed pretty much straight after a cut scene has ended because enemies have attacked and I haven't even had time to get my sword out.

No, I don't think I have to do any of that.

My initial posts today was literally:
"Wait, the PC patch is next week now?

Are you fucking serious?"

And the rest was people trying to tell me it wasn't an issue or that people were overreacting or a whole bunch of other things.

I'm pretty sure I conveyed my thoughts properly and accurately.

Let it flow my friend. People on the internet don't like when you talk even slightly ill of something they like. It hurts them for some reason. There is always a few really over the top nutjobs that will try and take anything you say and twist it as an over reaction for any major franchise no matter how legit your gripe is. Fuck em and put them on ignore. You will be happier for not having to interact with them.

I own Witcher 3 on XBox One, but haven't played it yet. I was thinking about doing so over the weekend, but I'm not sure what the situation is regarding bugs; will I be affected? Am I best off waiting a bit longer? I have plenty of other stuff I could be playing in the meantime.

why??????? its fine even with xp bug as cdpr and tons of others have said. no reason to wait

I have already put 60 hours into this game and I'm barely half way through. The odds I play through it again, knowing my playstyle are thin. This bug means not only will I not be able to get the trophy for lvl 35, I won't even be able to equip the upgraded maxxed witcher armor I have already spent hours looking for and making.

I'll wait until they fix the game.

I don't think you'll have an issue hitting level 35.

Honestly, I think the whole thing is a bit of an overreaction; there's a reason they didn't catch this bug in playtesting. Not sure if it's worse by platform, but I have yet to see a single instance of not getting XP from a quest on my PS4 copy, and believe me, I've been looking. :)

I am far more excited to get the fix so I'm not extinguishing candles repeatedly when trying to talk to somebody. Bugs or no, this is the best game I've played in the last few years regardless of genre.
