I said this in another thread.

I remember in the GC days on up, Reggie was like the 'Teflon Don' of the big three heads. Nobody can say wrong to him, and he said all the 'right things'.

Seems it is now time for maybe a fresh face for NoA. The mighty can crack.

I get what he's trying to say though. We're looking at it and not playing it and we're not sure if it's a good game or not. Reggie's looking at it and thinking that this IS a great and fun game, and the Treehouse Livestream showed that. Our saltiness is blinding us.

And again, is this guy for real?

He is completely in denial if he thinks this whole Metroid shitstorm is anything like Splatoon from last year (which was minimal at best).

Just go and spend a few minutes reading your own companies Facebook page Reggie.

Never understood where this "apology" interpretation came from. The tweet was way to fast and not worded like an apology at all.

... Splatoon's reception was almost immediately the exact opposite of Federation Force's. No clue why that comparison was made.

Funny, I remember people doubting that game's sales potential and quality until the second showing...and even then we had people continuously doubt the quality of this game until the very launch. While no, Splatoon's reception was in no way as critically backlashed as Metroid: Federation Heroes, it speaks extremely to the revisionist history of this forum if people thought this game was a kick-out slam out of the announcement gate.

It was a new, high budget, non eShop IP from a core Nintendo team. It was really well received.

People thought it would bomb because it was on the Wii U, not because the game looked bad.

Hey Reggie, you know what else was critically backlashed at E3 for bastardizing a cherished series? The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.

Remember how well that turned out?

People mightve thought it wouldnt appeal to people, but that's not meaning people wouldnt think it would be good. And yes there are going to be different opinions on this game, but you can literally look back in the gaf threads and see that the game had a mostly positive reception from day 1

This is baffling. Why does Iwata has to apologize? Why is the main PR guy of Nintendo explaining things? People nowadays are so self-entitled .

New flash: Nintendo doesn't owe you anything. If you got "disappointed" by the Digital Event, it is you own fault. Take some responsibility for once, people.

It's only video games.

Reggie: "We announce the games, show brief confusing trailers and gameplay, don't explain anything, anger and confuse our fans; then 24 hours later we play them and hope you then understand"

Something is wrong, very wrong with how this guy expects people to buy this PR bullshit.

He's literally comparing the reactions to Splatoon last year to the reactions towards Federation Force this year and claiming they're similar.

Reggie, I don't think I can take you anymore. Good god.

I wonder how much of his hands are tied though. It seems like he's constantly having to make chicken salad out of shit because of how not empowered NOA is. It's not like these are his decisions.

So Iwata read all the fuck-off messages on twitter and decided to respond with "thank you, we'll continue to be awesome?" Yeah right Reggie.

I'm sure Nintendo's shareholders will understand that.

Either buy it or ignore it. Consumer loyalty be damned. Pack it up, people! You heard the man.

D-don't get upset at a company making the games youve loved and supported for many years guys...! It's just mostly the main hobby of practically everyone here! It's not important!

People are upset for a reason.

Exactly. People should take responsibility for their own actions.

Wait, what?

I hear you. I just feel there has got to be a better way to respond to these criticisms, even from a PR perspective. He just flat-out lied about Splatoon's reception to try and make his point. I don't understand why he felt the need to do that. It's only going to piss people off more.

Reggie knows why we're frustrated and why we're upset, but it's his job to say otherwise and keep a smile and create certain narratives. I kinda feel bad for him at this point.

I don't want to comment specifically on the quality of Nintendo's showing, but from a larger perspective, this kind of whining about "entitlement" needs to stop. Yes, consumers are entitled. Yes, consumers are owed something. That is how this industry works for God's sakes.

God's had his chance.
Didn't most everyone kind of love Splatoon the moment it was shown/demoed? I thought the reception was pretty stellar considering it was brand new IP..

I want some of Reggie's stash. Ish is stronguh.

I hope you see the irony of your post. I really do...

Where is the fan art thread for Federation? Splatoon had that within hours, same reaction my ass

I am not liking Nintendo much right now, don't think I can forgive the Animal Crossing U troll

now these bullshit lies smh

Hire more develpers, start to create more games and provide a steady stream of software and people will stop complaining. It's not a difficult concept.

By the by, Reggie is not in charge of NoA. Iwata is.

He isn't just a PR guy tho. He is the president and COO of NoA.

He is a glorified PR guy, though. The guy who calls the shots at NoA is Iwata. Reggie just follows orders and tows the company line at North American Nintendo events. Nothing more. This isn't an SCE setup.

Bringing up Splatoon. A game that was received very positively upon reveal. Reggie is almost digging his own grave right now IMO.

It's how many carry themselves, basically like children.

Nothing wrong with being upset but don't act like a fucking tool about it.

Nintendo often makes great games. But this E3 is one for the books.

NoA has little real power. That's a problem they probably need to address sooner rather than later.

What's-wrong-with-you?.gif
Seriously people, chill.

I don't know why should they apology in the first place. They're grown up business people.
What do you expect him to say? "Yeah, our games suck! Thanks for pointing that out internet people! I'm going to suicide now, please undertand."
