What a mess

Looking at the recent video

Why oh why did they not stick with the 2D art for heavens sake

mighty-number-9.jpg

They never intended to make a 2D game, so they couldn't stick to it

Time has proven that the Inafune tweet doesnt paint the whole picture, he is a business man that is bad at it. The dude had four different Megaman projects on the pipeline at the time (Legends, MMO, Universe, Armature game) and exactly zero were released.

Plenty of smaller indie devs with seemingly less funding and resources than Comcept have been able to create 2d and hand drawn art for their games. It's not like that's some luxury exclusive to AAA devs or something. I always thought the reason they went with the weird 2.5d engine and art was to make it easier to scale and port to mobile.

People seem to forget, this is Azure Striker:

Made by the same developer and surley hasn't had the budget of MN9.
Doesn't look amazing, but at least isn't activley repulsive to look at.

As someone who selected 3DS on the backer platform survey, I'd already more or less come to terms with the fact that I'll never be able to play this game. One more delay does nothing but make me laugh when my version of choice has never even been shown to exist in any form.

"Isn't actively repulsive"? Yo, Gunvolt looks fantastic! It's thanks to the fact that Gunvolt 2 is in development that I can so readily put Mighty No. 9 out of my mind without remorse.

Really hoping its to rework the visuals..... game looked very bland. Games with similar atheistic like Splosion Man that came out 6 years ago looked more visually interesting.
Doesn't look any blander than Splosion man or Mega Mans.

THey aren't releasing their games for about 20 different platforms, though. That's one of the reasons why Mighty No. 9 made as much money as it did. Wii U, Vita & 3DS fans put a lot of money behind the project to get this game on their (weak) niche platforms. Comcept are also probably getting paid a monthly fair wage instead of the usual indie pay that is a far cry from how much professionals should be paid for their professional work.

Gunvolt rules. Shame it runs at 30 fps but it looks gorgeous

Game wasn't perfect but it's a solid foundation for a sequel (gameplay/aesthetic-wise, story is trash)

Yep. Gunvolt might have had little content, but what was there was rock solid. If it slips into next year, I probably won't bother to play it. Too many great games in the horizon.

people are using this screenshot in every thread , it doesn't even related

Sylverstone14 often posts here and I believe he is a mod on Reddit. Neat seeing he got a response on Twitter from Kamiya. I would nerd out.

I'm going to hold out hope that Mighty Number 9 comes out this year. October may be a better release for it but maybe the end of September.

I would do naughty things for this and the sequel to come to PS4 and run in 1080p/60fps.

With amazing I mean art like Vanillaware would do, who are just ridiculous.
But in no way does either Azure or MN9 need to rival those, average is just fine and I do like the gameplay of azure, good game.

Suffering From Success
Seems like plain and simple mismanagement. They can't even typeset the dialogue text right for the gameplay video they release to promote an almost-finished product. What a mess.

Does that really apply to Inafune? It seemed like he wanted to make Megaman at Capcom. He certainly pushed many forward.

Inafune had a managerial role on most Mega Man games. He never contributed much to the creative process past a certain point.

Onimusha was Yoshiki Okamoto's brainchild in the first place. I think he has as much claim to the idea as Inafune does to "Mega Man". But generally, I think Inafune made a Mega Man-alike game not wholly because he cares about the character, but because it's a good business opportunity.

Oh I thought you posted that quote because it made him seem like a hypocrite. Regardless of the whole Business Man vs Creator stuff, it's not like he left Capcom because he was sick of making Mega Man games.

I'm guessing that at some time during the last month they got in some 'mock reviewers', and were genuinely shocked at the 2 and 3 out of 10s they were given, so it's back to revamp things. There's a whole future media empire riding on this thing, after all. Anyway, it has ALWAYS looked like a 2/10 game from where I'm sitting, so I couldn't be less surprised.

Compare how mighty no. 9 looks to the upcoming Jetpack Squad which is being made by 2 dudes.

Absolutely embarrassing for the MN9 guys looking at this.

I'm already completely sour on the game so I guess if they delay it and make it better then they'll have a shot at winning me over when I get my KS copy.

Seriously though, I wonder if they are polishing it due to the negative feedback.

I sure hope so. It's sad to see it get delayed along with all the other backlash being thrown at him. I was looking forward to it now, but I guess I'm not so sure now.

Inafune plz
