MGS: Ground Zeroes to Phantom Pain Save Transfer

Consider this: there are two kind of transfer. The one that use the "upload save" option on GZ, and Mother Base 3 DLC, that should transfer other stuff too. The DLC has been given to all PC users, while on console only people redeeming the code inside GZ boxed edition will be able to use it.

What mother base DLC? There's a DLC for GZ?

I've been on a complete media blackout for Metal Gear so I might have missed it.

Just went through the Classified Intel mission again to extract the agent and baldy. I messed around and extracted every enemy soldier on the map.

If it works like other cross-save games on PS4, the PS4 uses your cloud storage to download the save, & I doubt Kojima wouldn't use a system that's already in place in favor of a more obtuse system.

So I can theoretically put a 100% save on PS3 & then use cloud storage to transfer it to PS4.
Yeah.
My point is that you'd need an "upload to cloud" ingame option for GZ on PS3. AFAIK, this doesn't exist yet in GZ PS3?
Every PS3 -> PS4 save system I've seen works that way. Dynasty Warriors, Diablo and Borderlands all received patches on PS3 to enable cross-save.

Does anyone have a PC save file with everything done? I 100% GZ on PS3 and I can't really be arsed to do that again on PC.

Didn't konami update the product chart to remove those DLC ? From what I recall now the steam version only have the GZ transfer and none of the DLC.

But the PS3 already has built-in cloud storage on PSN. You can upload it to PSN cloud storage and download it on PS4.

hm i got 100% for all trophies, i hope that's enough? pretty sure i also extracted all POW from cages. can't remember every single soldier though.

So the code that came with the (physical) version of the game is only to be redeemed on the Konami Core page? I tried to do it yesterday on PSN and it wouldn't let me, I was worried it was somehow used by someone else even though I bought it new (unsealed) but I thought I remembered people saying entering it when the game first came out didn't work anyway.

Do you guys think we really need to get to 100% though to get everything? No way I have the time to do that (or that I can even do it anyway I'd imagine).

tbh, I'd pay to get all the stuff that's supposed to carry over. I don't feel like going through all the hassle of downloading a PS3 save, resigning it for my PS3, and then hoping that might work, I still haven't heard a confirmation on whether having the PS+ version of GZ means that everything will be unlocked automatically.

Yes Konami, you broke me.

The KonamiCore page tells me my code is invalid. So I wouldn't bet on it. I think PSN will take the code as soon as TPP officially releases.

The digital copy of GZ is supposed to only unlock stuff if you bought it close to its release date. Konami had vaguely said that "only early copies sold" would unlock stuff. So considering that, I doubt the copies gotten for free via PS+ would unlock anything. My bet would be to try to get a physical version of the game, on the platform on which you intend playing TPP. If unlocking bonus stuff is so important to you, anyway. It'll probably only be superficial.

As for save transfers, I believe they have to stay on their respective platforms. I don't think you can import a PS3 save of GZ into a PS4 copy of TPP. Unless there is a way to convert your PS3 save of GZ into a PS4 save of GZ, but I don't know about this.

Codes are handled differently depending on your region. NA codes have to be activated on the KonamiCore website, whereas PAL codes are activated directly on the PSN (once they activate the DLC anyway).

I wonder if they'll have something in place for me? I downloaded GZ digitally on Xbox One and am buying TPP Physically on PS4.

I'm in this boat too, except I know for a fact that I didn't keep any paper. Don't know why I wouldn't redeem any codes in the box though, so I'm hoping there'll be a nice surprise in store next week.

Just found my voucher card and tried to redeem and it said error, looks like you have to wait for the games release before redeeming, or I redeemed it on release and it's been so long it doesn't say "already used"

MotherBase DLC3 is included in TPP on PC, you can check it by giving a look at steam store page.
On GZ physical there's a voucher included to give those contents to TPP owners later. Actually is still not possible redeem this voucher.

So if we have the PS Plus version, there is no reason to go hurrying to complete any of this?

If you intend to play the PS4 release of TPP, then yeah, you should extract all those NPCs. You'll still be able to import your save into TPP; it won't matter that you played the game free via PS+.

For people on PC who had played the game a long time ago and do not have the time to replay all missions to extract POWs, there is at least one 100% savegame online (google is your friend) that is compatible and works with the Steam release. I had a 33% savegame but no time to go back and make sure I extract everyone or finish all missions with S rank on every difficulty level, so I just used that one and uploaded it wherever it's uploaded.

Regardless I'll replay GZ at least once more before starting TPP, as I have to get accustomed with the controls again.

Does it? From what little reading I did the game saves were tied to the account of whoever it came from.

I just tried it using the saves in my last post and everything works. It shows 100% on my title screen and I can go into any mission. I don't think GZ has any online features so I don't see how it matters.

I wonder if not playing Peace Walker is going to screw me over for MGS5's story. >_>

Do you own Ground Zeroes? There's a surprisingly concise recap of PW's story, both in the intro and various cassette you find. I was surprised by how many of the best tapes were brought over from PW, it was kind of like a "best of" compilation.

Posted this in the review thread, might as well post it here too as I would like an answer.

I just ran into something worrying. I downloaded the phone app for Ground Zeroes so I could use it in conjunction with the PC version of the game... And it's not supported. What in the fuck?

Is this the app that's supposed to be used with MGSV? This is a huge bummer if I can't have the same functionality as the console versions.

If the PC will never be supported, I'm tempted to ask for a refund to be honest and get it for ps4. I prefer functionality over eye candy.

What do you mean? Plus version comes with the option of transferring your savegames into TPP too, like the boxed version. I don't know about the voucher, but I think that one isn't included because Konami promoted that as physical edition exclusive, an optional bonus only people buying the physical edition would get.

But didn't Konami themselves release an image saying how saves / info could be transferred from certain platforms to others? (On the last page I think.)

a second screen experience counts as essential functionality now?

I should've bought Ground Zeroes during the Steam summer sale. Didn't because I wasn't expecting to have TPP any time soon. Blah, expected there to be another sale before release but it's getting pretty close for that not happening.

Who cares, honestly the transfer will have no effect other than fluff.

I just looked up where the XOF patches are. There's no way I'd have spent that long finding those, especially given where some of them are.

Fantastic, thanks.

There's no way to check if this file got all the POWs, but whatcha gonna do.

You get the Ground Zeroes sneaking suit (MSF/Peace Walker suit) and extra Mother Base personnel no matter what just from having a save to transfer.
The POWs and unique soldiers are a (big) bonus.

The check pointing has now screwed me over twice. I rescued the last POW, got caught so reloaded to checkpoint (the game definitely must have saved after the rescue as I moved into the next objective area) ended the mission only to find the rescue did not register....
