Love the dynamic weather on Mother Base. Mist just settled in. Eerie.

People disappointed with the twist, would you have preferred a game about The Boss and the Cobra unit in WW2, which was what was originally Kojima's idea before they did Rising?

In which we find out about The Boss' mentor, named "Boss", who is her superior in every way, and lets her kill him in order to complete his final mission, and delivers some clunky exposition about how she will follow the same path as him, and The Pain shoots bees at machine gunners on Omaha Beach? Sure, why not.

Does anyone know where DD hangs out in motherbase?

Ocelot keeps telling me to go check him out while he's goring up, please PM me the answer if you can because I would not like to enter this thread full of unmarked spoiler anymore I already am reading about twists and seem to have an idea of what it might be just from reading 4-5 posts accidentally

There's something on TPP tapes that bothered me... The inclusion of a pin which has sentiment to The Boss because someone close her dies in 1941. I don't understand why the ambiguous backstory.., but yeah, I can see your proposed image of a prequel

God damn it, I can't stop laughing.

Nah, after what's happened to the characters of Solid Snake, Raiden and Big Boss following MGS2 and 3, I'm happy to leave The Boss alone and maintain my perfect image of that character.

It's funny, but after this Big Boss/Venom Snake nonsense, I'm actually a lot more comfortable with how Solid and Raiden ended up.

Solid was more pragmatic in the sense that he never let the legends and shit change who he was and what he had to do (and he never made the folly of believing too hard in his own hype like Big Boss did). Raiden is similar in the sense that Revengeance had an interesting twist where Raiden was like "I'm not a monster! Wait, no, I'm totally a fucked up monster, but I fight to not let other kids be as fucked up as me" and he also didn't buy into his own hype.

And it is fucking crazy that Revengeance somehow ended up as not the stupidest game in the franchise after Phantom Pain, even with Senator fucking Armstrong.

I just choked on my drink laughing (but it's too real).

Like I said on the previous page, it's MG2 that is fuzzy now. Otherwise it works: BB draws the Venom out of himself to create a phantom that will carry on what would have otherwise ruined him, especially since it seemed to be Skull Face's goal to drive BB mad. So he shields himself from becoming a demon by splitting himself from his evil side. He eventually even sends his "son", the one person who would risk following him in the direction he once took, to kill this "evil" phantom of himself, effectively redempting himself in a sort of ritual and at the same time passing on his "meme" to Solid Snake (that of being against evil BB/Venom).

I think it all works out beautifully, but not if you consider what happens in MG2 if that is the real BB, and even less if MGS4 is canon.

If you consider that MG2 and MGS4 don't exist it all works out nicely, we just wouldn't know how BB is killed.

Hence why it feels like something still doesn't make sense and that would be MG2. If what O say above is true, why would he be evil in MG2?

I'd rather consider MGSV doesn't exist

Even with the senator, Revengeance is my favorite title in the series outside of 3...
It's themes are solid, it doesn't try to hard to over explain itself... the "Nano-Machines Son!" felt like an amazing joke that even Raiden was exasperated with "You've gotta be fucking kidding me..." Raiden is a mentally broken character who has to face his own inner monster, demons, and past. He has to face what's become of him. It deals with this well, and Blade Wolf is amazing. It's still got the villains that talk to much or insert their ideologies into everything with giant monologues... but again - the conspiracy is surface level - easy to consume... and it doesn't feel ham fisted into the games story.

He finished the game and the completion is still 62% ? Almost half of the game is elft to complete. Huh!

That is completely to be expected coming from GZ. You have rankings, difficulty levels, MB staff, companion points. The game is big so it was always gonna have lots of side stuff.

One of the MB staff is like "oh she's a naughty girl."

What?

I haven't seen the splashing one yet, I don't think I want to.

I don't think that one is as bad as the random splashing

I actually prefer this one as it's completely blatant pandering which is whatever. The splashing scene was just awkward and trying to be sexy but emotional at the same time? If you're going to do it just do this!

WORDS AND DEEDS

Someone should make a Quiet thread before both this and the OT blow up lol.

Mods pls someone make one.

Technically, that's just Quiet having dinner, right? A nice, three course meal with dessert?

I never thought I'd see the day where we'd have a female character that makes Mistral (Miss 'I'm too cheap to buy a decent sports bra so I just use my gekko arms') look downright tame.

I was so young. So naive. So unashamed of my words and deeds.

I don't think Revengeance could have ever been the dumbest game in the franchise because it was willfully dumb and over the top. The rest of the series doesn't really channel that kind of ridiculous bullshit on purpose, it just comes naturally.

Wow that shows how men become animals around an attractive girl. It is quite thought provoking. Even Ocelot is there, silently disapproving of everything.

.....
I'm joking, it's an embarrassing scene. At this point though, to be expected from Kojima. The B&B fights were so bad because of the post skinsuit scenes

This is some embarrassing shit. I wonder if Kojima's simply taking the piss out of Otaku culture, or if he's just a giant pervert who has to come up with flimsy excuses to satiate his boner. So dark and gritty, much taboo.

Every single MGS game (aside from 2 I guess? Maybe maybe maybe Emma if I'm really reaching) has had a woman who some form of interactive gawking is featured around. I'm leaning towards Kojima having some really weird hangups on women.

That scene is creepy... ugh... I'm probably just going to be knocking out my soldiers and removing them. May even just forego having Quiet all together at this point.

Ha! I think this game, single handedly, made me lose respect for Kojima... And I love the Metal gear series... But dude's got to mature.
