I'm really itched to play this but MGSV is just around the corner. I guess I'll just wait for a couple weeks or so. Perhaps by then the translation patch will be even better.

maintenance just came up
skills quests tutorial arent translated, but the ui like inventory, profile and stuff are done so you can find almost everything, game settings are translated too

Got in about 3 hours of play before the maintenance. It's okay so far, but I can't shake the feeling that the ultimate reception will be "they should have just made another single player game."
Quick impressions-
Pros:
+F2P model is surprisingly unobtrusive.
+Game feels *mostly* like DD in terms of combat.
+New monster designs are interesting, more varied than DD.
+Character creator is potentially hilarious. Even beats Saint's Row in terms of your ability to create absolute monstrosities.
Cons:
-Subpar graphics. Draw distance in particular is awful due to the huge impact it has on gameplay. Makes long range fighting impossible.
-Reloading as an archer. Ugh.
-Enemies leash like in typical MMOs, which doesn't really make sense in a game that isn't a real MMO.

I thought you were playing on PC with low shadows and lower resolution. At least it runs at a steadier framerate.
PS4 version is the highest settings at 1080p/60fps, but the PS4 share video records them at 30 fps at 720p. :/

Was the combat dumbed down at all? Most of the classes only use one weapon and have access to one set of skills, right? Like no daggers for most of the bow classes? That was the one thing that was turning me off from this game, so I'd like to hear about that.
I see, I'm tempted to jump through the hoops just to play. Never completed the PS3 version myself, since the framerates dropped and I got distracted with the New Gen stuff.
In terms of choices? Yes, less skills and 1 weapon per class. Though it seems they will be making up for it in the fact that there will be future classes added to the game. Like the teased fist wielding class.
But in the way it plays? HELL NO. It feels amazing, even better than the original due to it being at 60 fps (at least on PC and PS4.) Runs so smoothly. Easily the best real time combat in any MMO to date.
Just for the sweeet 60 fps and the combat... It's worth it. So very very much.
Just a heads up, the person making the translation patches posts a new thread for each version without updating the old one, so you'll have to keep checking the front page of the subreddit to stay on top of it.

I really need to see some move lists, because each class having a smaller selection of moves available seems like it would really suck. No immolation for Magick Archers? No melee at all? What do they do when they cling to a monster? Hit it with their bow? No counters? Do shield sages only have magick knight shield spells, so none of the base fighter moves? No stinger/antler toss?

Yeah every class looks a lot more limited. Pretty disappointing. I'm still interested in hearing more, but that's definitely not encouraging.
Which system are you? Also it maybe due to the maintenance going on right now.

Is there anything to find in the environments? Hidden chests? Breakable pots? Loot of any sort? They look bigger but so much more empty.
There is actually chests to open (with keys or lockpicks? Can't read it. xD) that I didn't have to open them. I also ran through this mission twice... I saved over the recording by accident and so I just rushed through it the second time. The original was like 10+ min as I explored more.

There are harvest points and chests, seemingly sparse right now. I haven't gotten anything from breaking boxes (but still doing it anyway lol)
Dang, still sounds like a step down from Vanilla & Dark Arisen. I loved how dense the environments were in those games. I could visit the same place 5 times and find new secrets on each venture.

Yeah, the areas definitely aren't as item dense, but your inventory seems smaller too. I think parts of the game are modeled on Monster Hunter Frontier, with a central hub structure where you manage things. Only level 6 though, so can't say for sure.

For those who are playing on the PS3/PS4 is it difficult to navigate through the menus?
This thread is Mother 3/Xenoblade all over again. A few people on Neogaf want to play a niche game so they think it would have been a wise decision to release this internationally.
I'd like to play it in English as well, but it sounds like it isn't that complicated for non Japanese readers. Everybody keen to play it should probably just download it as is.

There's an Assassin, but I think you have to unlock it like in original DD
