PNG, and online save storage boost, cool update. Good to see more social features as well, and working with YouTube.

I can imagine them in another year or twos time, saying "We've changed online storage for PS+ from 10GB to 20GB!".

They could also tell devs : stop creating save files so big that you could fit 3 times Zelda OOT in them.

Sounds like a really great update. Just folders are missing for perfection or any other option to organize the stupid apps list. Wonder what the unannounced features are.

Thats not ocd it's just perfectionism. Unless they can't get through a day without constantly thinking about the games that aren't 100% that isn't ocd

I don't even care if they're 100% though.

It's more if I buy a game, play it for a bit, realise it's not for me, and sell it, I don't want it stuck on my trophy list for all time. I just want to be rid of it entirely.

yeah...trophy related stuff should go down to the bottom of the list of requests lol...well outside of turning off auto screenshots for popped trophies. :)

It's very weird on pretty much all parties parts, that folders are way later than you'd think they'd be.
X1 could definitely do with folders, but hopefully the new OS will get improve the OS currently because I hate it in its current form.
PS4 still doesn't have it of course and wanted since day 1.
Wii U did get it...eventually but I remember it taking longer than people hoped.

Weird such a simple sounding feature takes so long to implement. Do they not think we want it much or is it harder than it seems?

Other than that, liking the sound of a lot of these additions and improvements. Making the online experience more next gen I suppose with the communities and etc.

I constantly have to delete less important saves from my online storage. Each Telltale game takes about 70MB, GTA V and Rocket League take a few hundred MB's each. And those are only the most extreme cases. Basically it's hard to find a game that needs "only" 10MB for save storage.

Just checked my save files, and Alien: Isolation, Arkham Knight, Bloodborne, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, Infamous: Second Son & First Light, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Shadow of Mordor, The Last of Us remastered, The Order: 1886, Tomb Raider remastered, Wolfenstein: The New Order, and most of the smaller downloadable games all take 10-30MB per save file.

The only big ones I have are Driveclub and The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, but I think the latter was fixed with a patch.

Not really. A 3.00 update should have added things that people actually cared about. Not events and Twitter. 10 GB is a joke too.

But people did care about PNG screens and online storage increase. They asked for them! Read the reactions in here. Could the update have been better? Of course. But even the things that don't interest me (YT streaming and communities etc) other people are hyped for them.

As I said before, if you want something to be added then tell Sony about it. They have that official forum just for feature suggestions, and you can also Tweet @Toshimasa_Aoki, who is the go to guy for FW feature suggestions.

"PS4 cloud storage capacity will increase from 1GB to 10G"

Was hoping for unlimited space, but i'll take what i can get. Cloud is always full of 100+ MB saves. Even smaller games like Rocketleague has a huge savefile.

Yeah, it's usually 10MB per save file (afaik it can't be smaller than that - why? ask the geniuses at Sony). Imagine if you have one file for settings/profile info, one file for checkpoint progress and additional files for manual saves and you're quickly approaching the 100MB margin in a single game. And that's not counting stuff like replays or levels created in an editor.

i can relate to that. i dont experiment nearly as enough because i dont want to be stuck with another stupid trophy list.

both of you have issues if having a game show up on your trophies list is preventing you from trying out certain games.

I turned off save auto upload earlier this year because I was tired of seeing errors, so was stoked to see the 10gb increase for saves. That was until I checked my PS4: According to the storage management tool I have 12gb of saved games already. WTF.

I'm sure I'll be able to go through and exclude specific games to make it reasonable (LBP has a 500mb something or other, think Driveclub may as well?)

I really wish I could turn on nightly backups to an attached USB stick. That would be more of a peace of mind for me.

Should have been unlimited, but 10gb is a heck of an improvement, I'll take what I can get.

Supposed to start today, at least some people who have signed up/been selected should get the download today.

No idea about a real time, regional differences, validation process or download process.

do they get a download on the ps4 or they receive an email first?

I've noticed that a lot of games take up more space on my local system that what they do in my online storage. So just because you have 12GB local doesn't mean it will be that large online.

10gb online storage is fantastic news. Whoever thought 1gb was enough was way behind the times.

Great news about PNG screenshots too.

Sounds like a pretty good update.

Online storage capacity increase: PlayStation Plus members’ PS4 cloud storage capacity will increase from 1GB to 10GB

Favorite Groups: Favourite Groups has been added to the Friends app, letting you add new or existing groups as a Favorite Group and quickly access groups of people you like to play games with frequently. This will make the process of getting a game session up and running even easier.

Communities: PS4 users will have the ability to create communities based around shared interests, like games, genres and more. Communities include a message board with general discussion, screenshots shared by players and the ability to join parties or games. If you want to tackle a big multiplayer raid, but don’t have enough friends, this could be a great way to connect with other likeminded players.

Screenshots: We’ve listened to your feedback and we’re happy to confirm that PNG format is now an option for Screenshot saves

Looking like a nice update Sony

They stated that some features may not be ready but there are also some feature they haven't listed. I hope I get a Beta invite.

I wonder if this will fix the bug where the number of friends online doesn't update, it stays with the number that were online when you logged in.

Folders?
Filters for library?
No more random ordering of apps in video section of xbar?

Please. While the storage boost is nice, I'd rather have the ability to organize my content instead of instead of a 1000 new sharing features I'll never use. I'm tired of having to navigate around video services I don't use just to get to Netflix.

So, are friends notifications in this patch somewhere? (a notification when a fiend comes online) Such a simple feature to impliment. Just copy the Xbox system where you "follow" someone, only then it will notify you when a friend is online.

How would transferring saves work? Unless you're suggesting someone play the game, like it, then have to start over on their new account.

Yeah, start over again. Just play it for a couple of hours then switch back to your main account. I've got about seven different accounts now with games spread across all of them. I just like starting new PSN names though heh. I've done one for MGS5 but I probably won't use it again after I've completed it.

Screenshot on trophy gain is terrible with the lag it has. I had one take a snapshot of the messages app, as that is what I opened after getting the trophy.

TGO

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
PNG screen shots and 10gb storage, the rest is filler.
Wasn't 3.0 on PS3 a big update?

Has anyone received the update yet? Or even an acknowledgement that they are in the beta?

I requested participation a fortnight ago and I've heard nothing since : (

There's lots to like about this update.

Favourite Groups & Communities: Love it esp. the message board

Events: Nice addition, would be great if they include release dates of games

10GB Cloud Storage & Lossless Screenshots: Immediately useful, excellent

YouTube Gaming Integration: Not a surprise but definitely relevant to my interest

Great update. As for my remaining wishlist...

1) PS Classics - it's about time...seriously
2) Download List - should have been fixed long ago
3) Homescreen customisation - not sure folder is the answer but at least place the bloody Library to the immediate left of What's New
4) Media Player - wanted DTS support but that's no longer needed now that I got myself a Bravia Android TV which does the job way better than any console will ever be. I use the Media Player only for music now and it's pretty decent actually.
