New Elgato HD60 Pro, 1080p 60fps internal cap card

Yes, that's the same chip as the XCAPTURE-1/SC-5121-L DVI. And thus is a good suggestion to the person I responded to above as well.

Don't you need to deal with force installing the micomsoft driver because the startech one is ass?

http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?p=1097288#p1097288

I mean sure, you're saving a ton of money by just getting the Startech one, but you're gonna have to do this if you want it to perform at full versatility.

It still baffles me how consumer Japanese capture cards are years ahead and all we get is this shit. At that price what's the point of an internal card if it can't even record uncompressed, can't record from all your consoles even older ones, doesn't support DirectShow, basic stuff, huh?

PC Gamers streaming at 1080p/60fps who are mostly limited to 720p/60fps right now.

It's just good to know that doing that can work!

Since it swwma someone was able to release a cheaper device using the same chipset, has there been anyone that's released at something analogous to Micomsoft's internal capture device for cheaper. As in, it has the same capabilities.

hi everyone, stan here from elgato gaming! I'm the senior marketing manager over there and I'd love to answer any questions directly.

if you need me to confirm, I can happily provide proof, just ask. if you also look at my history on neogaf, you'll see that the last time I posted (other than lurking since) was answering questions around the launch of our original HD60 last year.

like I said, I'm happy to help clear anything up or answer any questions here on this thread or privately in PMs about the launch of our HD60 Pro. I know many of you have your preferences and are particularly fond of your choices. please note I'm not here to sell or pitch you anything, just to be chill and answer questions.

so let me know plz. thx. :D

Why did my review HD60 never arrive? :p

This looks like a fine product. I mostly do my recording with a laptop and need the portability factor, so the HD60 Pro isn't in the cards for my right now.

Off-topic but slightly on topic: does anyone know how to add a Paypal donation widget to a Youtube account?

When, if ever will it be available at other retailers (Amazon/bestbuy). If I'm going to jump in, I'd like it to be from a place I have credit waiting to be used.

we'll be having the HD60 Pro exclusively online at Amazon US very shortly, aiming for next week. you can purchase from our own webstore as well but Amazon US will be our exclusive online retail partner for the next few months.

otherwise, we'll be in all the Amazon EU regions sometime next week as well. hope this helps!

thanks! if you're serious about the review unit, reach out to your original appropriate PR contact and we can see if we can get that sorted. :)

Will get in touch with him tomorrow. I know I was on the list to receive one but nothing ever arrived and I never investigated the cause. I wish I had a more stable location for my video capturing as I would definitely look into the HD60 Pro.

Will all versions of Game Capture continue to use the same software? If so will the Game Capture HD and HD60 gain new any new software based functionality?

Doesn't help those of us who have g-sync displayport only monitors.

we'll be getting in some GSYNC monitors to test ASAP, thanks for bringing that up. we've tested this method with existing 144hz and 120hz displays by having your DisplayPort output go to your monitor and your HDMI output clone the primary display which then goes into our capture card. already a number of high profile PC streamers have been using this as a solution.

we'll let people know if this works on GSYNC/FreeSync monitors. much appreciated!

all of our capture cards will get the software updates. so for example, our new Master Copy feature will be available to the HD, HD60 and HD60 Pro. for our upcoming software updates which will incorporate more critical streaming features, those will be available to any existing Elgato capture card.

the Instant Gameview feature is hardware based and that's only available on our HD60 Pro.

hope this helps!

I ordered an HD60 from Amazon Sunday night, it arrived Monday afternoon, and an hour or two later I found this thread. Kinda sucks to think I could've had a better one for slightly more if I waited another day.

I wanted one in the first place to play console games with Virtual Desktop on the Oculus Rift to play them on a virtual cinema screen, but didn't know the preview had so much lag. I might just return the HD60 to Amazon and order this instead.

So whats the delay in ms for the Instant Gameview?

I might grab this for my new PC(Trying going all internal build minus Keyboard & Mouse). Less wires I have the better, I currently have HD60. If I could remove wires and recording at 60MB. That's would be great.

Anyone from Elgato know how long it would take to be delivered on average in US (East Cost)?

I would be extremely interested to know what the difference in monitoring latency is between this and the SC-512N1-L/DVI.

I've been waiting for something like this for a while from elgato.

I own an old avermedia internal card which was about £100 before the streaming craze kicked in, it's got no frame latency, uses only about 30% of my core2duo cpu and you can fraps it for lossless quality.

I bought another card from amazon a few months back in a sale but sent it back a week later, it had delay, video was compressed because it used a cheap and weak onboard chip and had issues running in OBS, AND it used double the cpu it was so stupid because the video it encoded was done so quickly it took a ton of cpu to decode the video feed... I shake my head at the design.

If you order from our webstore right now, we ship from CA so ground speeds would be 4-5 business days. We'll be on Amazon soon and then you can Prime that if you have it. :)

I have a dual screen pc set up, If I just run my console into this card could I just full screen my game in one of my monitors and run obs on the other?

yep.

just to cover all the bases, you can run the HDMI from the console through the card's passthrough to one monitor and use OBS to stream/preview on from the other monitor.

depending on how particular you are, you can even play directly off of the OBS preview and not even need to set the other monitor to play directly from the passthrough.

does that help/make sense?

Your friends should have internal cards then!!!=p

Sigh.

No.

3.0 with a good pc is flawless.

I get a max of 1 frame delay. 2 frame in rare cases.

Quality is top notch through ArmaREC TV.

So try again.

And also, just get Avermedias (with armaREC, avermedia software is awful), people. Horrible experience I had with elgato. Pretty awful for streaming.

edit :

LOL ? 4 Frames delay is on par with any device ? You are dreaming.

sorry for any troubles! that's precisely why we're building this internal solution. entirely up to you how to handle it and we'll be on Amazon US hopefully later this week or next.

I've been waiting for something like this for a while from elgato.

we'll see if we have that available internally to test. much of our testing has been against HDMI capture cards as we're aiming to create products for more mainstream audiences.

to be honest, the delays between both devices will probably be very close as higher-quality internal solutions will generally work at the same level.

hope this helps clarify some.

whats the reason to buy a capture card today?

Implying ps4 and xboxone have sufficient quality ?

They're shit.

Capture card can be used to capture old consoles, new consoles, also ps4 and xbox block certain scenes from being recorded...

It also is far better for streaming. Allows you to use your PC and customize it the way you want.

whats the reason to buy a capture card today?

control and quality over your content. for consoles, the recording buffer is 5min for Xbox One and 15min for PS4 at 720p 30fps. you're limited to the same resolution/fps for their built-in streaming offerings and you don't have the ability to add overlays or use alert-based services to allow for better engagement.

not ideal if you want to be a high-end content creator.

with a capture card (like ours, hurr hurr), you can hit 1080p60 with at least a 2 hour buffer in our software.

if you're a big PC guy, there are some decent software solutions but the performance hit has been counter-productive. now with built-in solutions on recent video cards, that's been helping many for capturing but with some concerns on quality and limited support for streaming.

that's why focused solutions like capture cards matter. :)

sorry that happened! it's a tricky space without a lot of consumer focused brands trying to make better solutions. that's what we're hoping to do with our stuff. hope you find something that works best for you!

The Micomsoft card has 3 frame latency using DirectShow (I.e. Through AmaRecTV or OBS) and 1-2 frames (slight variance on tests) using the direct access in VideoKeeper2 or StreamCatcher. I measured these myself. It's possible to get it down to 1 frame but it requires using EVR without Aero enabled in windows which results in nasty tearing.

I might have to get one of these just to get rid of the lag with the current solutions. Don't get me wrong, I *love* both the GCHD and the HD60 (and I'm still pretty amazed that they work as well as they do for such a low cost of entry), but it would be nice to actually just play in the preview window and be done with it.

May I ask why you didn't go with another capture card ?

Since other cards have been doing latency free , with amazing quality, already ?

Elgato's strength was being accessible to many, running on toasters.

But if you wanted high end quality and had the PC to support it, what were you waiting for exactly ? It is the same price as an elgato 60 ...

Doubt its as good as my X-Capture 1, but if by some chance it is I'll look into it.

totally depends on your needs. can you share a bit more about that?

if you have a very particular focus that requires specific features, then we'd recommend your existing setup. if you're looking for something consistent, focused, and simple, that's more our space. :)

This do a good job of live-viewing on your computer? May finally retire my Avermedia.

That is the whole point, yes. You can play on your PC monitor through the preview ! A cool feature is ability to stream and record at the same time. (though, can you take out commentary from the copy version ?)

Also, Avermedia has several products that do the same (also full hd). So... ?

Just a quick suggestion to the team, stan.

Beef up the editing tools in the software, add transitions for video montages, the ability to add text, etc. And also allow us to add and drop in multiple recorded clips and more.

here's a video showcasing the low-latency preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5dEBa8x2f4

our engineering team reports ~4 frames delay in the preview mode. at 60fps, with a bit of math, we end up around 65ms. from our internal tests, that is on par or faster than any other external or internal capture solution.

does this answer your question?

- stan

can you get this same level of latency with an external usb product or would that cause latency?
