Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 is a glitchy mess

You know what saddens me though. If I were Tony Hawk and I was putting my name on something I'd damn well want the product to be a quality product. Since Robomedia and even before the franchise started going down the crapper. Now it's to a beyond insanely crappy quality level of bad yet he's still there shilling it. I remember him talking about how awesome each game is going to be and then it comes out being a piece of shit yet he doesn't seem to give a shit. That's what saddens me.

He's a businessman, not a pro skater

OlliOlli2 is going to get so much free publicity and kudos from this, even though it came out six months ago. Roll7 should get the rights to this franchise if they ever want to continue it after this disaster.

OlliOlli series is so fucking good. I'd be fine if they were given the reigns but honestly they don't deserve to have their reputation tarnished by being associated with what this franchise has become

Every Activision game on the horizon looks like a total hunk of crap.

I just played for an hour and did not see a single glitch.
What I did see was clunky controls and awful lag because of the forced online, but I did not see a single glitch.
I actually think it is pretty faithful to the original games. I think people have some kind of weird nostalgia with the Tony Hawk games and remember them being better than they actually were. This feels like a Tony Hawk Pro Skater game.

Honestly the only thing that seems really off to me is the whole Slam button now also being grind. It just breaks up the fluidity of things that was not present in the other games.
Everything else, from manuals, to flip tricks, to grab tricks, feels like previous games.

Also the forced online is awful. Really bad. I get what they were trying to do, but they failed miserably.

I paid $25 of my own cash thanks to Reward Zone certificates and Gamers Club unlocked at Best Buy, and I am not angry that I spent that much.
I would be if I spent $60 though, no doubt.

The last thing I will add is the graphics are ass. Really, really, ass. It is amazing how bad they are for this generation.

It is not worth $60, no doubt at all about that.

EA needs to do a new SKATE already. The market is there I would say. This should have been a $20 budget title without any online and also without the Slam button being grind as well. Other than that, it is Tony Hawk Pro Skater with no evolution whatsoever. And I think that is probably what is most upsetting. This could have been a PS2 game. That is exact what it feels like.

Sony and Ms are equally to blame for allowing a release of this quality on their systems. There is just no excuse for this game to be on sale, in shops and digital, when the qualty is this poor.

It looks like nobody on any level of the design and production of this game are good at their job.

I know people are always ready to blame the suit that wanted to con everyone with this game but there are decisions that make no sense regardless of how much time or staff they had to make it.

You know what, I don't hate this game. The only complaint I have is slam and I'm used to it now so I don't even really get messed up by it at all anymore. I'm grinding with precision and having a lot of fun. Only at the second level but if I'm having fun, good enough for what I was expecting.

The game does have glitches and while I'm not making an excuse for a poorly developed game (and it is), in this type of game the glitches don't really bother me. They are quick, and usually funny. This series has always been arcade-y to me so it's not making me upset or anything to see the glitches because they aren't very annoying.

The game has crashed twice though, and that sucks and is awful.

I'm amazed that some people in the previous Tony Hawk threads were actually giving Robomodo a chance. Lol, come on now, this was always going to be a Hot mess.

I didn't understand this either. Robomodo's history with making these games is dire. Just a glance at the game visually on its own should have been enough to indicate what kind of effort they were putting forth.

It's tragic, really. Despite the poor reception that the last few games received, Activision still assigned this project to the same group that has been dragging this once-adored franchise into the proverbial toilet.

I'm sure Robomodo took the work on the cheap, but I wonder if Activision understands that this blatant disregard for quality reflects poorly on their own reputation as well.

I know Tony Hawk himself feels somewhat obi\ligated to support this product, since it bears his name, but years ago it seemed like he was more actively involved in the games' development. Didn't he have any say in this one? Couldn't he refuse to sign off on the game if it wasn't up to snuff? I don't know what his contract entails, but he should have made sure there was a clause in there that says he needs to personally approve it.

It would have been better for the game to have been cancelled, rather than to release it in such horrible condition that it sullies the reputation of everyone involved with its creation.

I dont know why but i didnt expect this to be a $60 game.

It doesn't feel like a $60 title in any way.

I feel bad for saying this but I'm actually having a bit of fun with THPS5 just from chaining combos. I could see myself putting in more hours into the game than other $60 titles (Destiny is probably the most recent example I can think of) but the game is still very sloppy and has absolutely no polish. All of the Tony Hawk games from the early 2000s have more polish than THPS5.
