That's apparently her favorite phrase. She can morph into a variety of forms, including a car, too.

You spent a long time with Morgana.

Oh yes yes, then you are right. Sorry. Totally forgot about Morgana's character being El Zorro.
Yes El Zorro is an american living in spanish colonial California.

BTW Didnt know El Zorro's character was for public use already.

EDIT mmmm

Hope they dont get sued.

Copyright in the US is a strange thing.

They might dance arround the issue and change the Persona's name in the NA version, but even then it would be totally obvious that he's meant to be Zorro.

I'd love it if the MC turned out to be an elitist prick. His design would be boring if he's some goody two shoes.

I think elitist is not quite the right way to put it. Here's what was said back in February:
Soejima: To that end, it’s why you see the protagonist smiling wryly and whatnot in that main promotional image we’ve put out, to emphasize that tonal undercurrent running through our game.

Hashino: The world really is his oyster. If people get that impression from looking at him, then we can rest easy knowing we’ve done our job.
I like it when he's shown all beat up, grinning. There's also a scan I like where Ryuji is looking at the sky, astounded, but the protagonist just has a smirk.

I think it would be interesting if he was depicted as someone who always seems like he has everything figured out, even when he actually doesn't and they have giant boulders on their tail.

He's like Lupin*, confident and cocky. A plan for everything and due to his skills he has (or thinks he has) access to everything. I think it's so key to the idea of a picaresque hero that not making the MC like that would be a total waste. The idea is that the world is disgusting and now you have the power to change it as you see fit. It's a huge trope.

*book lupin, not necessarily comic lupin... but same idea.

YESSSSS

This game is hitting basically every note I could never dare to hope for.

Please come through!

As long as he's haughty I'm content. I always liked Light more than L

Less about the cleavage and just how tired I am of the whole (sexually) "empowered" woman with man slaves shit.

That Carmen's original trope, you know that right?
She captures the hearts of men and use them for her own benefit, stealing shit in her case.

She even has the cigar like in the novel, im really surprised how similar is the character to her original version for being a japanese RPG.

Strap on your hooker ...
I was so taken with these designs that I drew Captain Kidd for today's Inktober picture:

Gah, so many elements to detail! I may have died if I tried to draw Carmen or Goemon.

In one hand I completly agree with you but in the other hand they are depicting an over the top representation of Carmen and that was her schtick... idk

I think she's deliberately coloured as a natural blonde. If you compare with Ryuji, Ryuji only has his hair blonde.

With her being described as quarter American and that being one of her main traits, I don't think it's a dye job.

Got really lucky with the recessive genes?

Great designs. What I don't understand is why they didn't officialy introduce the painter guy during the TGS stream...to introduce him officialy a few days later.

I like all the new designs but Arsene is definitely the standout for me. Definitely helps that I'm a fan of Lupin I and III. :p Given the picaresque theme I'd love to see a Don Quixote or Catalina de Erauso Persona this time.

This is a Megaten game, so I'd hope her character is close to the source material. Remember all these Personas/demons have descriptions in the Compendium of their origins and stories/myths. Some designs take liberties, but some try to be accurate too.

That's entirely Carmen's schtick, though (and ironically, it was a groundbreaking trope back then, at least for opera: until then main female characters were supposed to be paragons of virtue and innocence). If there was any place at all where it's justified to follow that trope, it's here.

I mean, this is her super iconic aria.

Usually I would agree with you, but this we're talking about Carmen here.
Hmm. Not familiar with Carmen, minus an episode of Hey Arnold.

I love the blank faced non interactive background people. Really really cool effect and a great way to show the blur of strangers in real life.
